  • Today we take a look at the two, new 30 degree saddles being fitted to most new Road/Gravel and XC bikes.
These are made in two sizes 145mm and 155mm widths.

I've been using the previous 30° (Ergo Fit Women or something like that) and it is really good for me. Finding its limits above 6-7h of riding so in the process of trying other saddles. Currently using a Brooks C15, which seems very harsh but I still need to do a big ride with it to make conclusions. Cool to see new D4 saddles coming. Return policy is a great plus to test saddles.

Or buy both, figure out which one feels better and return the other. Decathlon s return policy is amazing.

Hi there, I have a question about the sizing of your bikes and how they are measured, I'm hoping you might be able to provide some insight. Decathlon provides geometry tables for their bikes, but I've noticed that the stack and reach numbers given vary wildly compared to other bike brands.
On your drop bar models (RC120, 500, 520, GRVL etc), the stack value increases in a fairly linear fashion across XS to XL by a reasonable amount each time. Meanwhile the reach value barely increases at all. On the RC500 for example, the small has a reach of 380, while the medium has a reach of 379, how is it that a larger bike has a shorter reach?
Is it to do with the way decathlon sizes up a bike? Is all of the length added via seat tube angle and thus not included in the reach measurement because it's behind the bottom bracket?

Hi Jay, thanks for the question, stack and reach are only a small part of a bikes geometry, the shorter reach for the Medium is possibly due to the longer headtube, Decathlon also change stem lengths on different sized bikes to change the effective reach. So Small comes with a 400mm handlebar width and 80mm stem, Medium comes with a 420mm handlebar and 100mm stem, both these things alone change the reach considerably. Another thing to note, the 'ergo' bars these come with have a swept back shape again something that changes the reach. I am sure all of this is as clear as mud and I would always suggest you try one in store, if you can, to get the best fit for you.

When are these available in Canada?

They will be phased in on newer bikes first, then will be released separately. I don’t know when Canada will get them, but I will find out for you if I can.

You could try the Long Distance saddles instead? Wider by 5mm, if you need wider than that, you could check out the Selle Italia range. www.decathlon.co.uk/p/saddle-st7-superflow/_/R-p-X8655821?mc=8655821
