    VERY nice little box! Loving the steering servo disability when the gear's up! Awesome!

    Love what they are doing with these boxes. Really makes it easy to setup the plane. My only complaint would be there’s no way to change the way the lights work thru the ribbon cable. It would be nice to have a switch or jumper to allow either landing lights or always on lights thru ribbon cable instead of running extra wires. Maybe In the future they will. But right now it’s still a great new control box.

      Tech is always changing, but the plane has to work right stock out of the box. It's nice to at least have the option available though for the simple cost of some extension leads.

    I just got my L-39. My radio is a Radiomaster TX16s. The rx is a Frsky S8R. I got nothing but problems with this MCB-E box. I got twitchy servos and losing RSSI 40 meters away. Total lock out 45 meters from the transmitter. If i move the rx away from the MCB-E box the servos stop twitching. MotionRC support told me to bypass the MCB-E box. Witch tells me that they know that there MCB-E box has problems. I am not the only one having problems with this box. They also told me that this box does not play well with all radio systems.
    I am now flying my brand new L-39 with out the MCB-E box and with the same Frsky S8R rx as when i had the MCB-E box in the airplane, and it is flying like it is on rails. No twitching and no RSSI problems.
    The idea behind the MCB-E box is nice, but it does not work with all radio systems.
    Think twice before you fly with this box, i might cost you the airplane...

    Hmmm. I opened up the MCB-E box in my new OV-10 Bronco and there's an ON/OFF switch in there that looks like it was soldered in after manufacture. It's in the ON position. Wonder what that's for?
    Oh, and I think they should have designed these to be powered directly from the BEC, with a separate feed from the BEC to power the receiver, and then single leads from the receiver signal pins to the MCB-E. Why feed the power for everything through the receiver? It's not what I do when I install an external BEC on a model.

    This will help a lot of us to understand the MCB and how to use it. But many of the comments on RCGroups are about the robustness of the unit and glitches that are causing some costly crashes and concerns about whether or not to bypass this unit with Y-harnesses. This is a critical flight essential part, that must be 99.999% tested with NO FAILURES. Until we are convinced this isn't a time bomb waiting to go off inflight, many of us will rewire.

    • @MotionRC
      @MotionRC  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We believe in the unit and if there is ever a known issue of it failing then you can certainly count on us to get it fixed. I've flown 2 L-39's over 50 times now and it works like a charm.

    • @hifinsword
      @hifinsword 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your reply. I have the MCB in my FW A-4 Skyhawk from you. It's much simpler and seems to be made better than the MCB in my FMS P-40. I'll leave the one in my A-4 alone unless or until there's a glitch, which hopefully will be never. :-) The MCB in my P-40 was recently replaced after several unexplained crashes. If my A-4 does well over the next year, a MCB from it may find its way back into my P-40.

    I watched the entire video expecting mention of the wing ribbon cable connectors but not a word. The ribbon cable connectors on the MCB are not identified as left/right but the location on the wing implies a left/right orientation. Is there a preferred location or is it a "if it doesn't operate in the correct direction, just reverse the servo direction"

    I don't know if you (MotionRC) has any input on the development of these, but would it maybe be an idea to replace the inputs with a single Sbus / PPM input? Yeah.. would probably be a bit more costly..

    • @austntexan
      @austntexan 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      One way you could accomplish this, and give yourself more utility, is to use a Pixhawk or PixRacer and go into the AP with your SBus, then run all your normal connections from the Pix to the MCB-E.

    I have a MCB-D of the T-45 V2, but the delay on the gear is up to 30 secs, meaning when i switch gear down nothing happens for 30 secs then the gear retracts or extends normally. Is there any way to reduce that delay to 0 as it should be?

    In order to leave the wingtip light permanently on, couldn't you just move the LED connector over one place, on the Wing Control Board, from "Take off light" to "Light"? According to your video, it's not occupied in the L-39, so shouldn't it function as normal? It's pulling the signal and power from the MCB-E, right? You shouldn't need the extension at all if the labels are correct and the MCB-E is sending power via the ribbon cable to the Wing Control Board.

    Other than lights, i don't see anything a y connector couldn't solve. Also if you have a gyro even worse. You can buy a ribbon cable for wings. I have one 6 space. Ail, flap ,gear, gear doors and lights.

    Nice video. Have a question .. When installing a 3 axis gyro ok to install it between the receiver and the Control box?

    • @MotionRC
      @MotionRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, just treat the leads coming from the MCB-E/Control box like you would the leads coming straight from the plane.

    • @MotionRC
      @MotionRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      so in other words, the leads from the box that would normally go to your receiver go to the Gyro first (aileron/elevator/rudder)

    • @MotionRC

      Depends on the plane and the space you have but yes, it just screws down wherever you would like it

  • @chriskelly7606

    Do these boards work with Futaba SBus? If so, where would you plug it in?

    • @MotionRC
      @MotionRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. The just use the standard connections. These boxes are designed to eliminate some clutter in the aircraft and the need for y-leads etc.

  • @glennroberts461
    @glennroberts461 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    What good is the unit for other manufacturers without the wing mounted ribbon cable boards? You should provide those too.

    • @smirkingdevil
      @smirkingdevil 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The MCB-E seems specific to the L-39 and its use with the L-39's installed wire harnesses. As stated in the video, the future release of the MCB-D may be used in future Motion RC products with installed wire harnesses and, if you review the MCB-D spec sheet on the video, you will see that most of the wiring harness functions can bypass the need for a harness by connecting wires directing into the MCB-D, making it useful on other manufacturers' products. This is actually a brilliant idea!

  • @RCLimit
    @RCLimit 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you use this with a 3- axis gyro as well?

    • @MotionRC
      @MotionRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Certainly. The ail, ele and rud ports coming out of this go into the gyro and then into the receiver. When you install a 3axis gyro on any stock aircraft where this is preinstallled you will be doing just that

      @RCLimit 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MotionRC What if you have 2 leads for Aileron, where do they plug into the board if using a non Freewing Jet? Do we just not use the Aileron port and go direct to Gyro then to Rx? Seems like the only logical path. I assume the 2 flaps would be the AUX ports on board. Thanks.
