      I like that!
      Do you see any value to using the VAG brand coolent? (Or any other brand fluid for that matter) as opposed to the genetic G12++ or G13 from the auto parts stores?

    Absolutely love this. Thinking about slight platform differences and accommodating that in your products is innovation! Plus, it's black. I had to go with the APR heat exchanger here in New Zealand because it was easier to source. I would much rather have this MercRacing unit on the SQ5.

    After just installing one of these on my B8.5 S4, the NUMBER 1 thing they need to do is make PROPER brackets for each specific car (like the S4). The HX is awesome, but the home-depot style brackets supplied to fit the high capacity unit inside a S4, are total S4IT! How hard would it be to provide a pre-made bracket to suit the actual car it's being advertised as "compatible" with? Having to modify them to fit the S4 was frustrating, and the end result (as was advised) is only just acceptable. Love the HX, HATE the included brackets.

    • @M31410
      @M31410 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      ECS Tuning's HX has mounting brackets that use the existing crash bar bolt holes for the C7 4.0T. A no drilling install for Merc Racing's HX kits would make it the ultimate kit.

    • @AudiC7Owners
      @AudiC7Owners  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ecs is also a massive company that can afford to make disfigured brackets for every single car model, and they likely stole the design from another company.
      MercRacing is a one man company. I'd rather have the best performing hx VS the best performing brackets.

    • @mostlypostie1
      @mostlypostie1 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AudiC7Owners that's BS. I made them myself in my shed. It would be easy and cheap for him to knock up brackets to suit the car. No need to defend him, He makes an amazing product in the HX. But the bracket situation is s4it.

    Me personally, I'd prefer to have a slightly less tidy install in order to use all 8 passes of the HX.
    If you move the fitting to the opposite side, it basically becomes a 7-pass HX, not 8.

    Just ordered the 4.0t one last night for my B8.5 S5 (discount code came in clutch!). Doing this install as well as my intercooler cores at the same time so that way I only flush my coolant once.
    How hard would you say it is to fit and install the 4.0t hx into the s5 and how is the bleeding process? I’m somewhat mechanically inclined but will be my first time flushing a coolant system/ taking off the supercharger and gonna dedicate a whole weekend to it.

    • @mydimeisup5103
      @mydimeisup5103 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Bleeding coolant and supercharger removal aren't that bad. First time I removed my supercharger it took about 40 mins to know where all the connectors and vacuum hoses were hidden. Second time I removed the supercharger, it took 15 minutes. Coolant drain is easy. Remove petcock from bottom of car to drain coolant. After no more comes out, close petcock and then remove coolant hoses that go to oil cooler. Let them drain and refit once nothing more comes out. Attach vacuum filler to coolant reservoir, pull vacuum, and once around 24 - 26psi stop pulling a vacuum and let it sit for about 10 minutes. As per Audi, if you don't lose more than 2.9psi over 10 minutes, then you don't have a leak and can open the valve to suck coolant in. After that, remove vacuum filler from reservoir and top off with your coolant jug until you're at max line.

    • @AudiC7Owners

      It's easy... Just make sure you don't install the hx too low or your bumper won't go back on.

    so basically, instead of having to run that long tube around the back of the HX to the passenger side coolant hose (left), you can just connect the left hose to the new interchangeable opening in the bottom left and then connect pipe that runs from the top of the HX to the bottom right to the coolant line on the drivers side (right), right? lol.
