@@ElliottBradenS We looked in the Vilcabamba area but Loja is more attractive for us as we are not interested in a place that is too gringo-centric.

Very nice but this will not be sound investment for anyone until the situation in Ecuador stabilizes. 🤞🤞🤞
Many of the people who relocate to retire need to invest to obtain a resident visa. Loja was deemed safe by the government and all restrictions were removed a couple of weeks after the 90-day national state of emergency was instituted. It has been very normal and very quiet here. Alternatively, it may be a good time to invest if the emergency has temporarily depressed real estate prices.
@@mfossoli Most people do not need to purchase property to obtain a visa in nearly every country. Personally, I would be very wary buying property in a country in which most of it's territory is still not stable. Loja is but one very small area in Ecuador. I think the risk is just too great.

Caramba Ecuador se está poniendo caro. Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 es territorio estadounidense y por $165,000 aún se puede conseguir un lugar en donde vivir. Lamentablemente Ecuador no es un lugar seguro en estos momentos.
Pensamos que no es equivalente la comparación entre Puerto Rico y Ecuador. Si bien es cierto que, Puerto Rico es considerado como territorio estadounidense, el nivel de vida que se puede obtener allá no es comparable al de Ecuador. Problemas de huracanes y tifones han afectado gravemente a PR y al no ser independiente depende de la ayuda de US, dejando a PR a la deriva hasta por meses.
La situación de Ecuador se ha visto afectada últimamente por el narcotrafico y por malos gobernantes. Sin embargo, el flujo de expats hasta ciudades como Cuenca y Loja no ha parado ya que son las más seguras del Ecuador.

It's nice, but it's not "luxury."
A place with all those finishings and features plus location is considered luxury in our country. Also, this place was recently sold.
