Use and abuse testing and review of a new blade from TOPS. This was a pretty durable blade. I used it as a hatchet, smashed pieces of cinder block with the pommel, and generally beat on the knife. Just keep it sharp, oiled, and it should have no problem with ordinary camping or survival tasks, it should last a lifetime.
This blade was designed by LVI Bushcraft and Survival Inc. If you want to see it doing a variety of bushcrafty tasks, check out the video section of the LVI website, located here: www.lowvisualim...

LVI video discussing the Bushcrafter Kukuri 7: • Video
TOPS wasn't afraid because they are freaking unbreakable. I've never heard of a TOPS breaking. (Can't wait to get my Tahoma back)
You never seen vid of the Fire Strike bending on E2E? EPIC. Of course anything man made can have a bad run.
Yep it bent. It didn't deter my purchase of the BOB with that said I figured everyone had seen that vid :) I'm eyeing your knife pretty hard.
They weren't afraid, because they didn't send it.
Hello, for me, Tops Bushcrafter Kukuri 7.0 are the most versatile Bushcraft tool I've ever handled, feather sticks, splitting wood, powerful Hatchet in relation to its size and more. I have several different Parang / Golok / machete from Condor and a Johnson Potbelly from Ka-Bar, and they are really good, but my favorite is Tops Bushcrafter Kukuri 7.0
An awesome review 8yrs later 👍👍🇺🇸
Good video. TOPS has a very loyal following. It's the only brand of knife I buy now. Their stuff is worth more than what they charge. You can trust your life to anything they make.
Yeah they are good, counting folders, machetes, and neck knives, I have 20 knives by TOPS now, all solid.
LOL I'm up to 14 with #'s 15 & 16 in the mail. ...Keep on jugglin'!
Arctodus Simus
I have 27 TOPS Knives and an empty wallet.
Some great penetration making it a great replacement for hand hatchets and hawks.
Tops really puts a quality piece for the money. I really like the 16" machete and fireman's axe, so this I will have to add this to my collection.
I luv Tops knives, great test playa
It use to be a fave, because of the smaller size but effectiveness, but since then, a number of smaller knives work almost as well.
That's one sick blade. The curve is far greater in this one than in most of khukris i've seen. Totally badass review, kudos to you sir :) By the way I finally got my damascus machete 1075/15N20 HRC 58+ and it's sick, I could send some more information if You would like to but I am really looking forward to seeing you use some damascus longer blades. Take care man and again great job on the video.
Thanks, Mad Vlad!
I'm a Fällkniven loyalist (I own NL1 Thor and V1L Volcano) and have never owned a knife by Tops, but this one might be my first one. Man, what a beastly kukri!
Every time you chop wood against the grain... a child in africa dies
Nice review. If it can withstand what you did to it, I would say it is well made.
I like that it has a finger guard, could even be bigger and come back towards your hand a little too.
Awesome knife and a great design for bush crafters knife.TOPS could not ask a better man to test their product.
I love Tops
that's so cool the company is sending you stuff wicked cool hard work pays off most of the time man awesome
Great looking blade, awesome review. This one is going into the wishlist.
Love Tops !
Israel, I'm so spoiled by my Saber Grind Knives, that the Flat Grind Knives are not high on my list, although I like this Kukuri, it's the size, it looks like it would be a great camp knife, building shelters and chopping around the camp, I think Essee and Top's Deferentially Temper their blades, that really makes a tuff blade that holds a great edge retention.
TOPS just dropped a new scandi "woodsman" looks like a small potbelly knife with a full handle. I already want one and I haven't even seen a vid for it yet LOL. keep it real chief. that khukuri looks like it's got some ShoeInAssFu
Not a bad knife, but a bit expensive for what it is, especially considering that Ka-Bar and Ontario both have comparable Kukri's for a fraction of the price, just my two cents worth, nice to see it in 1095 with a decent sheath though.
Thanks for making this video
Just got mine!!!!
TOP shelf as as always WAJK
an hell of a knife, will be always with me in my next camping trip!
Nice review! I'm looking at this closely as my next big knife purchase Still can't decide. It's this or some sort of prang. I do wish you would have done a better tip test by stabbing wood and pulling the knife out by a side action.
do u think it would be good for zombies?
That thing is badass!
Hello Israel, please can you make a Review of the Ontario Kukri Machete ? I want your opinion on this knife. Thank you !
TOPS, top shelf no dust!
Awesome knife. Is it as easy to use as the k bar
Maybe it's just me but with the name TOPS Bushcrafter Kukuri 7, I would have liked to see more of the bushcrafting side of the knife. We know kukris are choppers and tough, it's evident in the design (1/4 inch, 1095 HC). What makes this viable as a, forgive the expression, all-in-one or one stop shopper woods tool?
Thanks for the quick response and the link!
This is an old video, I was not as into bushcraft back then (and it wasn't nearly as big on TH-cam as it is today), although I am a lot more into it now. I would not say this is an all-in-one woods tool, but then again I didn't design it, here is a channel link to the TH-camr who designed it, I'm sure he makes a case for its bushcraft uses better than I: th-cam.com/channels/_SxQSaBpCQ-rhW1pZaIWJw.html
Thanx Izie, Thanx for the turn on, now I'm adding this one, and also the 10"er by Khukuri House, I think it's called the American Eagle, not sure though, but it's the one with the full tang, and it has the bird's beak, well anyhow, I know which one it is, and maybe Santa will drop it down my chimney, catch ' ya later, I'm writing him a letter right now.
amazing knife,kukuri 7...
Cheers Mate!
Nice!!!!
I've been looking at this knife a lot but I'm curious about the micarta handle though. When swinging and with hard impacts, how is the grip? It looks smooth and could possibly be a bit sketchy in certain conditions. It looks like it's not much of a problem for you in this video, but I'm just curious about your experience with it. Thanks for the great video!
+Boogalosh It gives a good grip and Micarta is especially resistant to slipping when wet.
great, thanks for the input!
Looks nice, but $200 for 1095 and a nylon sheath? The Ontario kukri is 12 inches of .25 inch thick 1095, with a nylon sheath, made in the US, and it costs about $50. I like micarta, but not enough to pay an extra $150 for it.
Point taken , however , consider that Tops knives are differentially heat treated so thats money spent on a superior heat treat that would shine on a chopper.
So those knives arent really comparable.
I've never had any problems with Ontario's heat treat.
I bought the CRKT clever girl kukri, I kind of regret it after seeing this 😢
this looks amazing but for a guy on a budget, is there any reason to think that this is tougher/better than the ka-bar kukri, which uses the same steel? Thanks "WeAllJuggle" I love ya man!
Joe Cannabyte This is a lot shorter than the Ka-Bar Kukri, so you probably want the Ka-Bar.
Thanks!
For their prices, they BEST *NOT* be afraid of rigorous testing ...
Still shopping for a big chopper/baton knife. What are your thoughts on the Kukuri vs the Tops Dart? One better over the other? Any thoughts? Thanks.
+aHigher Power Maybe the Condor Warlock? A lot of people are happy with that.
WeAllJuggleKnives Thanks I've questioned the quality of Condor, but I'll check it out. I was looking at the Tops Dart as well or the Esse 6.
Love it, definitely gonna buy one...or two...! :)
Excellent!
OK, I had a senior moment. I was thinking "tops", but meany "Marbles". My apologies.
Damn, can you scrap a ferro rod off the spine most tops knives you cant, they don't have 90 degrees on spines
HALF EXPECTING THE LORAX TO HOP OUTTA ONE OF THEM STUMPS AT 2:54....
*:)*
I NEED THAT
ONE!!!
thats awesome! i really want that thing
Say Yeah Is, Do a face-off between that Tops Kukuri and the SP-53. Now that would be epic. But in your opinion, The $64.000.00 question, Which one do you pick.,,.p
I would pick the SP-53, because it's longer and heavier.
WeAllJuggleKnives Thanx You Is. Yeah, the SP-53 is one of my Fav. I use it alot in cold weather to process firewood along with my hatxhet and I also bring a saw. But there's plenty to do with some good knives in that scenario.,,.p
Fu&%*ing sweet i need this knife
where is the stump of truth?
It is towards the end of the usage footage.
thank you for responding
should take a meat products and cut them like ribs, pork, maybe a hanging pig. like cold steel.
doesnt look very sharp, seems to be breaking wood not so much cutting?
you want it flat on 1 side, baton it.
thank you. bubba
Welcome, Bubba!
