Great review Stephen, always a great eye for detail, every time you say fancy I hear the professor in the back of my mind “ ooh how fancy... so fancy!!!” Ha, love the pen, jude

Hi! I have to thank you. I bought the Xezo the Sea Shell model. The Abalone, as with you, does not go with my personality, kind of tacky. But the Sea Sell is a gorgeous pen, amazingly well made, really refine. The reason why I thank you is because you said that it was very good writer. I bought the pen for the looks, buy also to write and it does really smooth. I'm more than pleased, right now is my favorite pen. I inked with Aurora Borealis from Diamine and the match is made in heaven. Thanks again!

Lovely pen. So far as gold vs. steel nibs . . . I have lovely gold nibbed Platinum and Hongdian pens. Two of my three favorite writers in my set (not collection!), but the third is a steel nibbed Skrikss piston-fill pen. If it writes well, it writes well!

Quick story, I was looking for a MOP pen on eBay for about 10 years. One finally made an appearance, circa late 1930s, with a gold nib. I got outbid to the tune of $400+ US. The price of this pen is spot on and the clear beauty and craftsmanship are far above anything I've seen that wasn't $600+ US. When you started to write, even BEFORE you begin to describe the experience I could tell from the sound, "Buttery smooth writer," is what I said aloud. Thank you for this review. I may have an early birthday gift for myself...if they don't sell out in a heartbeat.

Wow what a beauty of a pen. I am not a fan of bling pens. Especially if they have metal sections. But, this one is done well in reserved elegance, in my opinion. Not at all like those big, ornate, over the top pen things that mostly seem to originate from a Mediterranean country. And a fair price too, unlike the afore mentioned ostentatious pens. If this one is still around in a few months, I might convince myself to get one to add to my accumulation and to have a pretty letter writing pen. As always Stephen, thanks for bringing this to our attention. Best wishes for your new teaching season.

Stephen, lovely revue. I was surprised that they could make a faceted pen have a round pen "feel", surely quite a bit of work went into that. A bit too gaudy for my taste, but certainly an interesting and well made pen.

Pearlescent is the word you were thinking of, rather than sparkly 🥰

I've had this beauty for a few months now. It's a heavy beast, but so damned beautiful. Working on building up my strength so I can wield it properly. :P

I think X in the beginning of words is usually pronounced as Z, so pronounciation for this pen would be Zizo, or is the company specifically listing Kzizo pronounciation?

I've had my eye on a MoP pen from "3952," for some time, the Taiwan-made 3952 PEN # ABO2 FOUNTAIN PEN, MOTHER OF PEARL. Very similar to this one, except that the ABO2 apparently has a white-metal trim with only a rose-gold plated steel nib. I don't know about the feel of the facets on this one, but there is someone I can ask (as I've never seen this pen reviewed; would LOVE to see you do a review of it).
I'm not normally a "mother-of-pear person" either, but just something about the pen you reviewed here and that one I've been looking at that just makes me really, really wish I owned at least one.

Personally, I find this to be a stunning pen. I can see it magically disappearing from my desk into someone else's pocket fairly routinely. Oh, and, yes, your best guess as to why the strips of MOP don't quite line up is very likely because of the larger diameter of the nib. At least it makes sense. The strips could be cut a bit wider to compensate but I wouldn't require it. The misalignment appears to be quite minimal.

Very pretty. I have a turquoise architect Xezo that I like very much.

Interesting. I didn't know they could make MOP strips that long.

I currently have a Maestro SS Mother of Pearl Ballpoint pen, that I'm getting ready to sell on eBay. I'm curious on how many actually would be interested in it? I have been holding on to it for over a year. Few things are missing based off this video, such as the sleeve of the box. I don't know much about it, other then its beautiful. I wish I could post pictures to get better advice on listing pricing on eBay.

Very nice pen ! I don't mind the steel nib (looks like a Bock), if it writes nicely and I love the looks of the pen. Yes, at $260 you can get a pen with a special japanese nib, like o Pilot 912 with a nib.
Please tell Xezo not to export it to Greece, they won't sell even one. The name means something very vulgar.
