I think its because it hints of a slower simpler way of life thats not quite gone, its just buried in our subconscious waiting for something or someone to bring it to the surface.
Jonathan Walker couldn't agree more about it being the best show ever and the music throughout adds to its ambiance. I absolutely love detectorists and hate that I can ever again watch it for the first time.
His voice is so moving and deeply traditionally English. Johnny is a very gifted man, I think. Thanks to Detectorists for bringing him to my attention.

'Detectorists' was the only thing worth watching on terrestrial tv last year - and this song made an already beautiful show absolutely sublime. Tracked the muscian down because of this tune and now a massive fan.
Vivien Collins I agree. Watched season 3 on a long haul flight and had to be mindful not to wake other passengers as a pissed myself laughing. Beautiful ending as well.

I know its a great show, fantastic acting and seriously good writing, but why does this song touch me so deeply?

I found Johnny Flynn through this show and am forever thankful. It is also my favourite TV show, totally and utterly brilliant.
