This is a result of how a capitalist economy works, people want cheaper & higher quality products & China (and many other countries) provides both. Also American companies wanted to reduce production costs so started outsourcing components from overseas because (as stated) they are cheaper & have a higher quality than American made components (mostly due to cutting quality for profit).

This made onshore production more expensive than offshore production (even after tariffs) so companies started moving production offshore. And this Neo-Capitalism philosophy is still at the heart of Conservative government policy, not our job to support you.

And when the component cost more due to tarrifs the us citizen will pay the difference in price increases. Dont be fooled that all of a sudden american companies are going to fill the gap. They wont and they cant due to labor and other manufacturing costs. It will still be cheaper to pay the tarrifs. Which can only lead to price increases on everything. Now if they offered incentives to US manufacturing startups and slowly increased tarrifs once US manufacturing was online and available that would be a different story.

The video card is the only thing sending data to the screen. And it's only sending RGB values for each pixel. Unless the screen has some secret means to communicate with China wirelessly, it's not spying on anything. A small projector is more likely to have hidden communication in it (because many of them have wireless radios) than a simple LCD panel.
