Ahhhhhh yes back when a figure from when Hasbro designed their transformers with a fun factor instead of designing a figure for "lets slightly redesign molds of mostly if not completely G1 characters in a way we can se them as recolored and/or retooled characters." I gotten the reissue because it would look nice next to my transmetal Optimus Primal figure which was my first transformers figure, and after messing with the original I was not disappointed in my purchase. I say people need to get their hands on this while they still can cause it is that good.
Yeah but to be fair, they did still release other characters off the same molds back then but all they did was change the paint, they didn't even do different heads. And happy to hear that you are enjoying this thing.
@@PerspectiveEnd yeah there always been repaints and slight remolds/retool even back in the yee old times of the 90's but the initial figures of each wave were still made up of unique characters and not the same mold used in 5 different characters over multiple waves/toy lines and a good number of beast wars remolds were made because they were characters in the anime of beast wars 2nd and beast wars neo
When using the Battle Mask, if you turn the robot head around and lower the antenna, they fit into the grooves on the bottom to the mask, giving Primal a set of mandibles. I think it was meant to be Predator-like.
as a huge fan of beast wars,i honestly really like the reissue toy line,especially with the fact that most of the reissue beast wars are better than the kingdom toys,which is funny as hell

My family was visiting our local mall about a week before my birthday, (I'm the same person from the Devastator vid), and I was checking a toy store in the mall. I'm not always a fan of the store's prices, but as I was looking at the G.I. Joe/Transformers shelf my mind was blown when I saw reissue Primal, for $40.00 there instead of $52.99 from Hasbro Pulse, so it was cheaper than not just from the manufacturer, but compared to other items IN THE SAME DAMN STORE. Best early birthday gift of my life, currently the crown piece of my Beast Wars character collection.

I'm glad I got this figure recently at Walmart for $10, they stocked it at Christmas and managed to survive there until I bought it because of having a damaged box, I admit it's an entertaining figure and it feels like it's made to older standards. I can thank your observations in this video for generating interest in this figure.

Also there are just people who didn't like the idea of Prime Becoming a Monkey for some reason so they didn't watch the show, and never learned better.
This video reminded me of another Beast Era figure I have who I adore, maybe a bit more than Primal: Beast Wars Tankor. I found him 9-10 months ago sealed for like 30 bucks and he’s one of the most fun toys I have. I highly recommend him if you don’t have him already!
One of the things that could have made this figure better is if the mutant face was just removed because then primal will actually have a neck instead of a thing

God I miss gimmicks on transformers figures, I don't understand why people say they don't want gimmicks when the whole point of transformers is that they have a gimmick. It's nice to have something that's just clean and looks exactly like what it's supposed to, but every time I get something with Gimmicks, I just have so much fun I don't wind up caring.
Somehow I never noticed the arm tabs that make the fists rotate, I love it with the mace and now I can’t stop messing with it. Even before knowing that I liked this guy, I got rid of my kingdom primal and kept this guy and I haven’t regretted it once.
Well now I want to know what you would think of having the 10th anniversary Optimus Primal and Megatron in hand. Who I would argue are the progenitors of the premium edition Transformers before they were even a thing. Though if you ever do decide to get them, the cheapest way would probably be eBay. But even then, the cheapest those specific figures come for, considering they’re usual sold as a two-pack, are about up to $100. And that’s just for pre-owned. But again, since they are being sold as a two-pack, that price really wouldn’t be too bad when considering how much Hasbro charges for their reissue figures separately. All you would have to take into account is what kind of wear or tear do the pre-owned figures have.

You’ll be looking for the ones in the style of the old toys, not the ones that have the Transformers Universe styling to them. Because apparently there are two different sets of 10th anniversary figures.
I was lucky enough to get this guy on discount for I think 20$. One minor issue with was one of the shoulder missile launcher's spring doesn't stay lock and the gears are a bit tricky for posing but other than that I'm glad to have this since my older brother and I grew up watching this as kids.

This is one of my favorite figures of the year, also while it’s not my favorite of all time, this is probably one of, if not the objective best Transformers of all time given the amount of good action figure AND good toy qualities in this figure. It’s incredible.

Yeah their figures are legendarily bad. They were basically like the Loaders from Aliens that when they were brought to the US had face stickers slapped on their seats, to fake it they were the characters they said. I question why the stickers didn't look anything like the characters though.
Honestly, with regards to Ironhide and Ratchet, at least for my part, I didn't deal with it. I actively and willfully ignored its existence. Honestly, I didn't think tongue for the mutant face as much as "sloppy lipstick". This figure is the best counter to the Armada defense that you must give up articulation for functioning gimmicks, I feel. As, like you said, he is packed to the gills with mechanics and still has most joints that set the benchmark going forward. I had actually forgotten how well the chest-beating action worked on him.
Yeah, it was always BS that they claimed that, it does require you to not use ball joints as much this is kind of true. Really they just didn't want to spend the money making stuff this complex for the price they were.
I just picked this up from Ollie's today for only 15 bucks can't put it down. You guys had some good shit in the 90s And I was born in 2008 and I'm having fun with this thing.
For the ppl who prefer to have unburdened articulation over the gear system, it’s actually pretty easy to remove it. Open up the back using the screws, remove all the gears, then unscrew the biceps, remove the springs hiding in there, then just screw on the biceps as tight as it will go. The articulation is just as tight only now it’s not affected by the gears
This was my first ever Beast Wars figure. Wasn't complete, he was missing everything, I lost his mask, and the panels on his back were broke so his cannons were always out, but I didn't care he is still one of my favorite toys I got. Also considering the only figures I had to that point were Bayverse, seeing a Transformer that was FUN to transform blew my 7yo mind, and I loved Kingdom (except Rhinox) as much as these old figures. I don't see em as replacements, but moreso companion pieces. I get the same amount of joy from both lines. Makes me hopeful for the future, maybe they'll give the Fuzors and triple changers some love too. Hasbro better not feel like they're done after Tarantulas and Inferno I want to see em go all out like they've been with G1 since Classics
I have this toy and there was always the gap on his right arm between the gray and the white and everyone whose video I watch seems to have it, including yours. Kind of surprised so surprised you didn't mention that. Already seen this video I just came back to comment on that.

I wasn't saying so much that it looked like Eddie, but just a heavy metal album cover in general, because I wanted to bring up a band that everyone would know, but if I said that it looked like something off a Metalica cover I'd be lying. God I love Heavy Metal Album art. Every one of them I want to be a movie, and Brutal Legend deserves a sequel.
Love this figure, glad you love it too. Always wanted it as a kid but never got the chance to own it until now, and it absolutely lives up to 20 years of hype. Just fyi you're actually doing the mutant head wrong. The robot head is supposed to be facing backwards, and the antenna are supposed to be rotated down so they come under the mask as extra "fangs". That's according to the instructions anyway.
@@PerspectiveEnd wait really? Mine was flipped the other way in the box. Oh no. Well it depends, obviously you're not bound by the instructions, I quite like the antenna fangs and the backwards crest kind of gives it an extra fin on the top.
i brought this when it came out and I love toys with gimmicks, I never have cared for articulation on any transformer because I transform them or they sit on a shelf in a basic pose, aside from a few of my gems, that being all of unique toys live action toys, shattered glass seige starscream and tf6 ss optimus Prime because it just looks cool

Great review, my man. Kinda funny how well some of the original Beast Wars figs hold up compared to how fast their Kingdom updates'll age. Also, I have THOUGHTS about the Legacy wave 2 figures that I shall share here. Tarantulas: What's this? A Predacon (not counting Dinobot) who actually looks show accurate and like he won't crumble after a few transformations? MADNESS! All hyperbole aside, this looks like the first Predacon from the original BW show that looks like he'll be more than just a pretty display piece. Hopefully the transformation's fun! Elita-1: At long last! Optimus's spouse has a mold to call her own instead of being a retool of someone else! Admittedly, her alt mode is a tad silly (and I'd have swapped the red out for a toon accurate magenta so I wouldn't be reminded of the WFC show), but everything else looks quite promising Wildrider: Looks alright. I could've done without the excessive kibble hoodie, but understandable given his place on Menasor. Knock Out: Surprisingly not bad for a Jazz retool. Like with Bulkhead and Arcee, he's not really a direct translation of the Prime character model so much as he is a version that fits in the Generations style. His head looks nice, and I appreciate the amount of alterations made to make this kinda look like Knock Out in both modes (especially car mode). Siege Soundwave reissue: Eh. I've been meaning to get a Voyager Class Soundwave for my collection (I've been stuck with the Robots in Disguise 2015 version), so this is actually good for me. I can just pretend Kingdom SW is his actual alternate mode. Jhiaxus: Looks like someone didn't skip leg day. I guess that makes it LEGacy, am I right? Don't have much attachment to the character, but curious to see how the rumored Armada Starscream retool of this guy will turn out. Also, he is once again proof that Hasbro can design jet Transformers with waist swivels and cockpit chests but were too lazy to give one to ER Starscream. Blitzwing: Still not a fan of this guy. Like you said, hyper accurate robot mode but bad alternate modes. Skipping him and continuing my hunt for a decently priced Titans Return Blitzwing. Motormaster: While I'm still not a fan of toon!Menasor, this figure might make me one. Motormaster himself looks quite beefy for a small Commander/WFC Leader sized guy, his trailer seems well-engineered, and the Menasor "frame" at least looks like it's going to be better proportioned than the Combiner Wars version
The Preds didn't get enough love in Kingdom. Why does everyone have a problem with her altmode, it seems fine to me. The kibble cape is kind of ridiculous. Yeah we knew we weren't getting direct translations. Siegs soundwave is such a silly inclusion. I didn't notice Jihaxus's legs being big. Yeah the Bltizwing just isn't good. The motor master sure is interesting looking.

Sorry to hear you don't care for that, I know a few people in the past don't like my Preambles. I will defend my self in saying at least my videos are only like 10 minutes long. I know quite a few reviewers who this would be 40 minutes of video and yet still have a lot less to say than I did.

I didn't grow up with Beast Wars so I don't really care for this character but I kinda wanna get this because it just looks so fun! All the gimmicks and surprisingly good posing just look so cool. This figure has awakened my inner child!

i love this figure a lot even though its not my era of transformers so not it not nostalgia it just THAT GOOD i find it sad how we dont get theses really gimmicky toys anymore for 2007 we had automorphing, rotf had blades that would deploy from Optimus's arms for dotm and tfp we got mechtech which is my favorite out of all of them
I own the Universe version, pretty cool face painted on it, lost the swords and the 4 missals , maybe i should've probably store two on the back. kinda wondering if they'll release the Kingdom Primal in those colors someday.
I never had this figure when I was a kid. I had Optimal Optimus. I still have Optimal Optimus. This figure can punch at the level of Optimal Optimus. My only real niggles is some of the white panels could have just used a bit of paint to hide them in the beast mode (his inner arms are actually fur-colored in the animation) and that his legs had somewhere to clip onto in beast mode (his robot knees actually form the butt of his beast mode, so technically his legs only have one point of articulation).
If I'm gonna get this it's gonna be for display, either with or out of the box, I'm probably just gonna get the reissues of the figures that didn't appear in the show (such as cybershark and that wolf guy, I forgot his name)

WFC Primal's Gorilla face was designed to be accurate to a real Gorrilla. In the same way that Bumblebee transforms into an accurate, licensed, 1976 Volkswagen beetle.
Yes, but the WFC show model for primal didn't look like the toy. Which is what I'm pointing out. So that primal fails to look like it's own toy a quarter of a century later.
I don't know if Hasbro QC sucks now a days or just i have a really bad luck because my primal came with a loose bicep (i guess the mechanism came fucked up from factory) terrorsaur with a loose foot, SS jazz with a loose knee, laser prime loose right arm, it just demoralizing Great vídeo by the way, sorry for the rant

I wouldn't say most of them are better, but I would say that some of them are SHOCKINGLY better.

There are sacrifices made, but I think they were worth it for this madness.

I was lucky enough to get this guy on discount for I think 20$. One minor issue with was one of the shoulder missile launcher's spring doesn't stay lock and the gears are a bit tricky for posing but other than that I'm glad to have this since my older brother and I grew up watching this as kids.
The launchers have the most hair triggers imaginable so that doesn't surprise me. Glad you enjoy the figure.
This would be a contender for the top 5 greatest transformers figures of all time

This is one of my favorite figures of the year, also while it’s not my favorite of all time, this is probably one of, if not the objective best Transformers of all time given the amount of good action figure AND good toy qualities in this figure.

I have never seen the original Iron Hide and Ratchet toy until now. WOW! Just... WOW. I am speechless as to how bad they were.
Yeah, these weren't designed as sentient robots, more like mech suits for Microman figures.
Yeah their figures are legendarily bad. They were basically like the Loaders from Aliens that when they were brought to the US had face stickers slapped on their seats, to fake it they were the characters they said.
I question why the stickers didn't look anything like the characters though.
I think we need more transformers who’s articulation inadvertently deploys cannons.

Honestly, with regards to Ironhide and Ratchet, at least for my part, I didn't deal with it. I actively and willfully ignored its existence.

This figure is the best counter to the Armada defense that you must give up articulation for functioning gimmicks, I feel. As, like you said, he is packed to the gills with mechanics and still has most joints that set the benchmark going forward. I had actually forgotten how well the chest-beating action worked on him.
Yeah, it was always BS that they claimed that, it does require you to not use ball joints as much this is kind of true. Really they just didn't want to spend the money making stuff this complex for the price they were.

For the ppl who prefer to have unburdened articulation over the gear system, it’s actually pretty easy to remove it. Open up the back using the screws, remove all the gears, then unscrew the biceps, remove the springs hiding in there, then just screw on the biceps as tight as it will go. The articulation is just as tight only now it’s not affected by the gears

This was my first ever Beast Wars figure. Wasn't complete, he was missing everything, I lost his mask, and the panels on his back were broke so his cannons were always out, but I didn't care he is still one of my favorite toys I got. Also considering the only figures I had to that point were Bayverse, seeing a Transformer that was FUN to transform blew my 7yo mind, and I loved Kingdom (except Rhinox) as much as these old figures. I don't see em as replacements, but moreso companion pieces. I get the same amount of joy from both lines. Makes me hopeful for the future, maybe they'll give the Fuzors and triple changers some love too. Hasbro better not feel like they're done after Tarantulas and Inferno I want to see em go all out like they've been with G1 since Classics

God I love Heavy Metal Album art. Every one of them I want to be a movie, and Brutal Legend deserves a sequel.

Love this figure, glad you love it too. Always wanted it as a kid but never got the chance to own it until now, and it absolutely lives up to 20 years of hype.
Just fyi you're actually doing the mutant head wrong. The robot head is supposed to be facing backwards, and the antenna are supposed to be rotated down so they come under the mask as extra "fangs". That's according to the instructions anyway.
As a Kid I loved it too. I don't think that's right because 1 this is how it comes in the box, and 2 the crest kind of slots in too perfectly.

i brought this when it came out and I love toys with gimmicks, I never have cared for articulation on any transformer because I transform them or they sit on a shelf in a basic pose, aside from a few of my gems, that being all of unique toys live action toys, shattered glass seige starscream and tf6 ss optimus Prime because it just looks cool
I like to have the options, and if it doesn't articulate well in the modern age then like, what am I paying for?
He's the only reissue I got to replace one I had years ago and got used.

Great review, my man. Kinda funny how well some of the original Beast Wars figs hold up compared to how fast their Kingdom updates'll age. Also, I have THOUGHTS about the Legacy wave 2 figures that I shall share here.
Tarantulas: What's this? A Predacon (not counting Dinobot) who actually looks show accurate and like he won't crumble after a few transformations? MADNESS! All hyperbole aside, this looks like the first Predacon from the original BW show that looks like he'll be more than just a pretty display piece. Hopefully the transformation's fun!
Elita-1: At long last! Optimus's spouse has a mold to call her own instead of being a retool of someone else! Admittedly, her alt mode is a tad silly (and I'd have swapped the red out for a toon accurate magenta so I wouldn't be reminded of the WFC show), but everything else looks quite promising
Wildrider: Looks alright. I could've done without the excessive kibble hoodie, but understandable given his place on Menasor.
Knock Out: Surprisingly not bad for a Jazz retool. Like with Bulkhead and Arcee, he's not really a direct translation of the Prime character model so much as he is a version that fits in the Generations style. His head looks nice, and I appreciate the amount of alterations made to make this kinda look like Knock Out in both modes (especially car mode).
Siege Soundwave reissue: Eh. I've been meaning to get a Voyager Class Soundwave for my collection (I've been stuck with the Robots in Disguise 2015 version), so this is actually good for me. I can just pretend Kingdom SW is his actual alternate mode.
Jhiaxus: Looks like someone didn't skip leg day. I guess that makes it LEGacy, am I right? Don't have much attachment to the character, but curious to see how the rumored Armada Starscream retool of this guy will turn out. Also, he is once again proof that Hasbro can design jet Transformers with waist swivels and cockpit chests but were too lazy to give one to ER Starscream.
Blitzwing: Still not a fan of this guy. Like you said, hyper accurate robot mode but bad alternate modes. Skipping him and continuing my hunt for a decently priced Titans Return Blitzwing.
Motormaster: While I'm still not a fan of toon!Menasor, this figure might make me one. Motormaster himself looks quite beefy for a small Commander/WFC Leader sized guy, his trailer seems well-engineered, and the Menasor "frame" at least looks like it's going to be better proportioned than the Combiner Wars version
The Preds didn't get enough love in Kingdom.
Why does everyone have a problem with her altmode, it seems fine to me.

I didn't grow up with Beast Wars so I don't really care for this character but I kinda wanna get this because it just looks so fun! All the gimmicks and surprisingly good posing just look so cool. This figure has awakened my inner child!

i love this figure a lot even though its not my era of transformers so not it not nostalgia it just THAT GOOD i find it sad how we dont get theses really gimmicky toys anymore for 2007 we had automorphing, rotf had blades that would deploy from Optimus's arms for dotm and tfp we got mechtech which is my favorite out of all of them

I never had this figure when I was a kid. I had Optimal Optimus. I still have Optimal Optimus. This figure can punch at the level of Optimal Optimus. My only real niggles is some of the white panels could have just used a bit of paint to hide them in the beast mode (his inner arms are actually fur-colored in the animation) and that his legs had somewhere to clip onto in beast mode (his robot knees actually form the butt of his beast mode, so technically his legs only have one point of articulation).
The real sad thing about people that think Primal is Prime is that they probably haven't watched the greatest Transformers series of all time
Oh that's guaranteed, because Primal MEETS Prime during the show. So there's no mistaking it.
If I'm gonna get this it's gonna be for display, either with or out of the box, I'm probably just gonna get the reissues of the figures that didn't appear in the show (such as cybershark and that wolf guy, I forgot his name)

WFC Primal's Gorilla face was designed to be accurate to a real Gorrilla. In the same way that Bumblebee transforms into an accurate, licensed, 1976 Volkswagen beetle.
Yes, but the WFC show model for primal didn't look like the toy. Which is what I'm pointing out. So that primal fails to look like it's own toy a quarter of a century later.
