His stamina on the AC/DC Donnington show is just astounding. It can actually be harder to do a simple beat for a long time because your mind can drift. He was a machine but with the feel of a human.
I'm a drummer. I played to the double cd of it back in my 20's and it left me completely drained, blistered, and I didn't touch the kit for a week afterwards due to the blisters on my hands . I'm in my 40's now and I can't think of a better way to have more fun with pharmaceutical help😅😅😅😅😅😅 cause that's the only way I could possibly conceive of getting through that whole concert again 😅😅😅
Whatever... he completely blew it on the rock or bust tour dude couldn't keep good time and trainwcecked the band every night there definitely won't be a live album from that mess...he wasn't the right feel even in 90
Scotsmen, Welsh are my favorites in classic rock, such a real and jocular approach to the part. Jimmy Page saying he’ll wait…………the ultimate compliment!!!
As someone who posts daily Rock history and other music discussions, I applaud you for this interview. I love hearing stories from the guys who worked with music icons. THE JIMMY PAGE SEGMENT IS AWESOME
Mr. Slade, all my admiration for your career as a drummer-musician, I've never seen anything as you did playing | Let There Be Rock at Donington and this will endure in time, so I wish you all the best, keep well!!
Always great to hear these kinds of stories. The guys that played with "the guys". Mustve been so cool to mix in those circles, although I think I'd have been a little overawed 😂
Chris is such a classy gentleman! It’s unbelievable the musical history this man has been a part of! I had the pleasure of meeting him at a small restaurant/bar called Pancho’s in Manhattan Beach, California where he played a few songs with the house band. Matt Laug would also play there on a regular basis with the house band! The musical talent that would show up at this little bar was unbelievable!
WOW! Great interview, and great (LEGEND!!!) drummer. I so appreciate this, cause I´ve always wanted to hear his story from his own mouth. Thank you. Great drummer and a great guy! (-imagine having a beer with him at the pub??) Piuuuh! Excellent!👌👌👌🍺🍺🍺👏👏👏
Springsteens Blinded By The Light was transformed into something 'altogether more different' and it's eventual metamorphosis into the art/rock prog extended classic that many are familiar with was an inspired move, & one that paid dividends! That aside another really fine interview with a musician whose 'musical cv' speaks for itself! Huge respect !!😊

One of the greatest unsung drummers I ever learned from. His pulse itself is art.
Chris complemented Thunderstruck as only a great drummer can. Just brilliant!!!!
Slade is a legend and Donnington is a master piece, thank you!

The Firm were GREAT !
Love seeing Slade in AC/DC's Live at Donnington... which is one of the greatest concerts ever recorded!
Absolute legend. Incredible drummer.
Brilliant Drummer I love his Drumming on AC/DC’s Thunderstruck so Powerful
When Cozy Powell quit a few days before Gary Moore's After the War album, Chris stepped in and was brilliant.
I just looked up Manfred Mann. He’s actually 84, born in 1940. This doesn’t detract from the marvellous drummer you interviewed.

Slade is the best!’
Can you imagine being on a tour with Gilmour knowing Page is waiting? Some serious high anxiety. My God.
Really interesting interview. I've seen Chris with The Firm (twice) and AC/DC (once) and learned lots of good stuff here. Thank you👏👏👏
Glad you enjoyed it! 👍🤘
Absolutely wonderful interview!
Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
After seeing this interview, you realize how small a community the classic rock really was.
Incredible and legendary. Think about the people he's worked with and the bands this man was on.
You do a great job with these interviews.
Scotsmen, Welsh are my favorites in classic rock, such a real and jocular approach to the part.
Brilliant 👏
Another fascinating interview, Chris Slade is quite a drummer. Wonder where he got noticed by Gilmour and Page?
Page said manfred man was where he knew Chris from.
@@thekitowl Thanks. I should've known that.

Those old rock dogs making prank calls. Imagine the bloody confusion it caused.
' Ere it's Spinal Tap on the phone '.
' Oo? Final flap'?
...and Michael Schenker. That would have been the most intresting story.
He would play a great bald guy in a movie.
