- Some after the race testingbof the wild thing race saw we built up. Piped sleeved large carb and all. finally getting some testing done. pretty determined to get it fully dialed in by next year.

You can definitely push the compression on those saw alot higher than that. I enjoy modifying these saws for how cheap they are. I built one that put out 200psi and it cut great! Definitely wasn't the same caliber of this build but still worked good for what I had into it.
I hope the Wild Thing class stays around too. I genuinely like mine and want to continue making it better. It was cool to see yours on the dyno. Pretty stout numbers on the pipe.
It has hard to not like them after putting so much time into something that isn't really useful lol.
Really hoping I can double the power by next year.
Theres more than one model of wild thing saws available . The stratto charged version is the way to go. Not using the stratto set up though.. All you have to do is look at both types of cylinders and pistons side by side. It dont take an engineer to see that

I enjoyed this video. I have a 38cc Wild Thing that came new with the same bore & stroke as 42cc Wild Thing. It's a head scratcher as to why it's labeled a 38cc. Only the carb is smaller.

Ive had a couple of those saws. For a El-Cheapo saw they work pretty good. Never thought id see anyone use one for a race saw lol

Definitely gotta get that compression up in the 150-160 range. I feel like if you were to go much higher than that you’ll be breaking recoils. More compression and a better pipe that thing will really wake up!

The factory was nice and thick. Sleeve is only 1mm wall thickness
For next year's MS 170 check out what the 1/5th scale R/C guys are doing with the Zenoah g320rc. It is 28 x 38mm. Pipes and superchargers are available.
The little 30cc should be fun. They opened up the chain rule too
I play everything at 2x speed and it sounds like a wild horse neighing when cutting.
I will have to try that sometime lol, but some things sure do sound crazy!

@@dynojoemods2764 Yeah, I just watched the race on novice lumberjack's channel. Pretty entertaining. Your saw looked pretty damn fast, if you could just keep in revving. His saw looked more normal, until he hit the nitro button.
They would get so warm the gas would boil if you try to burn A tank of fuel straight!

Hell I've got stock saws that cut just as fast if not faster. I would put my Husqvarna 254xp up against it for $1000.. my saw is stock

I couldn't believe how bad that competition was, you literally could have placed by building a wild thing that could actually make 3 cuts....no joke. Half the saws couldn't cut three cookies. It was a bit like watching an ass kicking contest with one legged contestants. Don't want to be negative, but it was a bit embarrassing to watch.
Normally what happens when builders enter into a race. I am sure glad they got rid of the "rules" for the class to just make the 3 cuts. I doubt I would habe made it from the ground + 3 cuts in a 5" piece of wood without being disqualified.
Where was the festival at?
Nothing embarrassing about it. When people are doing something they or anyone has not done before things happen. I think it was more about having fun.. something so many people seem to have trouble with now days.
