3rd Gen Prius Key Programming - Fail

- When trying to register a key to my 3rd gen Prius, I ran into a problem at the very end. When trying to complete the final step of leaving the key on the passenger seat, it failed to recognize the fob and failed the registration. Other than the final step failing, this programming of a new key would have worked great.

Great video. Were you able to find instructions on how to unregister a used keyfob to accept new programming?
Same problem here, identical key..same board, the radio is working, I can see it on oscilloscope, but still not registering..any advice?
Do you have the hyperlink to the cable and software? What version of windows did you have on the PC

As for where I got the software, it came on a CD that was included with my USB to OBD2 cable. You can look around online to find a link to download it. I've seen links a few times on amazon USB/OBD2 cable sale pages, but download at your own risk.
Sweet, I'll look around. And yea, I have the right fob code... the one you didnt need. Its on a 15 Prius with the solar and moonroof and has this extra little ac button 👍🏼 My only concern now is that I don't think the one I bought has been wiped clean... will have to see I guess?
I had same problem with used key, they after research I found that you cannot use already previously registered key from other car. That key will have do be erased unlock with special hardware iprog+. (not sure if that works, but I will going to try). After ordering fresh key on Amazon it worked.(make sure its unregistered and unlocked or new FOB key).
That's true. I filmed a new vid of me successfully programming a fob to my Prius. It was a used one that was professionally erased back to virgin status.
Yes you are correct..when we using used key that key must be a virgin( empty key)

I had the exact same issue. It failed at the P-seat step.
You needed a hyq14fbc series key. The one you have in your hand is not it.
I had this problem and after falling 5+ times i tried the classic mode which worked first try.
Please open the key housing and change inside have a FCCID code , both key should same FCCID number , if you need help contact me .
Can this techstream software be purchased for windows 10 or just windows 7

lost fob, there's a way to program a new key fob, without the original
Perhaps it's my imagination, but the two keys do not quite look identical.
It may be a camera trick, or it could be that the original one is worn a bit smoother than the new one. But as far as the exteriors go they're identical. I guess the frequency is just different.
@@CtrlAltDefeatTV Do you record your youtube videos via smartphone or DSLR camera , they're very clear wth (FPS) playback which is always awsome to me.
@@FCES_Electrical_Sol I used a sony 4k camera for this one, FDR-AX33. But sometimes I'll use my Canon G7x MK2 to shoot the vids

Was not a virgin key.
Turns out this gen/year prius has a few different frequencies of keyfobs. This one was incorrect, but the one I picked up later was the right one.
