VLOG #1 - Trimming the bridles on Ozone Foil Kites without a pro tune system

  • Disclaimer: This is how I personally check and tune my bridles on my kites. This is not an official Ozone Kites video. Always fly your kite in light winds first after tuning your bridles to make sure everything is ok.
    Sorry about the sound. It was my first time using a new mic on the Osmo.

    A tip for this "long mixer test": mark the desired lengths of b, c, d on the A bridle with a pen - make it a bit easier and saves time if you have to do it again someday.

    Awesome vid. For the measurements and difference, how do you include the measurements for the speed system? I don't see any stock measurements provided for the speed system length. Reason, How do you account for any line changes in the speed system?

    Hi Gunnar!! My name is Paulo and I am Brazilian. I have a pansh Aurora II 12 m and I think that bridle is not adjusted. I whatched your vídeo but Aurora II don't have knots at bridle to mke adjustment. How can I do?

    Thanks Gunnar, my r1 flies like a sack of shit so I need to do this. I need to re watch it again, but question, if you have to adjust one side and the other side is ok, isn't there then the issue that the lines are not the same length on each side?

    • @GunnarBiniasch
      @GunnarBiniasch  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Eric. You need to do both sides.

    Good video! One question: if c1 (CM1+CR1 included) is 50mm too short and I use an extension (between CR1+CR2 and speedsystem), the whole c-line will be 50mm longer, not c1 only? Aren´t the other c-lines outside too long then?

    • @GunnarBiniasch
      @GunnarBiniasch  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Juan. The pigtail goes onto the end of the Speed system line and therefore lengthens all C lines.

      Thanks Gunnar! Do the coated bridlelines of the ChronoV2 shrink? Specially the KR1?

      All lines will shrink eventually, but it is the unsleeved dyneema pulley lines that shrink really fast.

    hi Gunnar.
    i,ve retuned my old chrono 12m using this method and its flying great.
    lighter bar pressure, faster turning and faster.
    wing tips are still tending to tuck, do you have any fine tuning tips to fix this. cheers

    • @GunnarBiniasch
      @GunnarBiniasch  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Steve. Try moving the Knot on the Brakes (KR1) up towards the kite by 1cm increments. This should reduce tip tucking. However, the ChronoV1 was always prone to tip tucks, so you will never be able to completely get rid of them.

    • @0416steve
      @0416steve 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks Gunnar.
      also Jussikaijasilta recommends on his foil tuning videos to shorten the b and c bridles in the tip area which would effectively increase the angle of attack in the tips and stop the from luffing [tucking].
      i,ll try this and let you know how it goes, cheers

      hi.
      i shortened C11 and C12 bridle by 2cm and no tucking at all.
      quick fix and the kite is flying great, cheers

      @@GunnarBiniasch thanks for your super fast response for the bridle, but i can't find the mesurements of PA1, PA2, PB1, PB2, PB3, PC1 when there is no "speed system"... !? and the measurements are very different on the Pro-tune speed system...
      Is there a drawing of the classical system ?

    For bridle extensions do you just use overhand knot? Would figure 8 knot be more safe?

    what are the tell tale signs that your speed systems is not aligned correctly?

    • @GunnarBiniasch
      @GunnarBiniasch  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Usually it manifests itself with the kite backstalling too easily or with it pulling to one side. It can also make the tips unstable.

  • @BernardHa
    @BernardHa 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Very informative! As always. Cheers Gunnar.
    Eg. 15m2
    A=a1+am1+ar1+pa1+pa2
    B=b1+bm1+br1+pb3+(pb2÷2)+pa1
    C=c1+cm1+cr1+pc1+(pb1÷2)
    Are these correct?

    • @GunnarBiniasch
      @GunnarBiniasch  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      actually you can just line up the ends of Am1, Bm1, Cm1

      @@GunnarBiniasch got it. Thanks

  • @tigger3015
    @tigger3015 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    so is it the bridle that shrinks or is it the speed system?

    • @GunnarBiniasch
      @GunnarBiniasch  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      On the Kites with the standard speed system both the bridle and speed system will shrink. However the speed system pulley lines will be the first to shrink substantially.

    Just put me off foil kite.....big downside

    • @GunnarBiniasch
      @GunnarBiniasch  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You actually need to trimm your tube kites bridles too as they get old. Just most don't care about performance. If you don't care about performace you don't need to do that with a foil either.
