The Wilkinson sounds good enough for me..I have a few brand new Carvin M22 pickups I have never even opened..My Carvin guitar still has the M22 neck and bridge pickups in it from the factory. Sounds great.
I would love to hear those carbon pickups too
Hi. I paused about 2 minutes in to write this comment. I took a journey similar to yours 3 years ago, when I got a Jackson JS22 DKA Dinky in Natural Oil. I got that color for the body wood (nyatoh), which I hadn't had before, plus it looked cool. I hope your Jackson got the same cheap ceramic humbuckers that came in mine, because they were so good that I almost kept them. I did replace them with a generic humbucker set chosen because its DC resistance spec nearly matched those of the Jackson pickups AND they were based on Alnico 2(!) magnets. Modern meets vintage in one pickup set. I have yet to regret it. I look forward to seeing the rest of your video, and whatever conclusion you reach.👍
Excellent demo! I have used Wilkinson pickups and will vouch for them. On my american stratocaster I have Dimarzio pickups.
Nice I am using Wilkinson Strat pickups for this kit build I am doing I think there going to be pretty good for the money
@@KWM1972 Nice!
Really nice comparison video! I've been watching Scar My Guitar and he frequently uses Fleor pickups for modding really cheap guitars so it's great to see them matched up with other HBs.
Ohh very cool they are very good for the price for sure 🎸
I wonder what the Epiphone Probuckers would have sounded like in this test ?? I'm trying to decide if I want to try the Probucker or Wilkinson in my Epiphone..I just found out about the Fleor but after this test I don't know 🤔
Yea I Ned to test some producers but I heard they are really good the fleors are ok but I like the Wilkinson better
Very good video, I'm suscribed.
There is some black foam that people sell for aquiariums, I just put a slice under the pickups and problem solved. Is good to to correct pickup inclination and avoid unwanted vibrations.
I learned it from bass players, they put foam under the pickups all the time
Awsome tip man i really appreciate it, thanks for subscribing and commenting too 🎸
I have a question ?Was the distance (width)the same on the pickup holes and mounting screws..Thanks
Yes it was a standard size
Kevin, believe it or not, you just cleared something up for me. You may have heard that the late, great Eddie Van Halen favored single pickup guitars for decades because he didn't like having to re-adjust his amp settings when changing pickups. I never got that until now, because your experience might mirror his, thereby telling me what Eddie found so problematical. I'm getting it even more because I'm realizing now that many of my old favorite setting don't work well with my latest guitars; I have a hard time getting good clean tones because my rather metal-oriented pickups are so hot. Time to head back towards PAFs? There's a happy medium somewhere. Of course, I COULD just replace some of my settings for new ones created with these newer guitars in mind ... which would be cheaper!😎
Hey you might want to check out those dimarzios i heard them in jazz boxes and in metal settings i am actually thinking about putting the single coil versions in my tele to get get a quieter sound and there very versatile lollar makes a nice set of imperials with different windings too, so you can get the best of both worlds. thanks for commenting i am glad this helped, have a wonderful day 🎸
@@KWM1972 Alas, those DiMarzios just aren't for me. I'm 65 years old, I'm not playing out, I have 10 guitars and many of them will stand in place of my hotter guitars if I need them to. I'm just saying that I can't justify the expense of the DiMarzios; they're an indulgence, not an investment. A shorter way of say the same thing is: MATURITY SUCKS!😆
I have experimented with a lot of pick-ups over the years. I have tried active, passive and economy as well. I have always came back to the tried and true for myself. Dimarzio Tone Zone with a PAF, Dimarzio Super 3 Distortion with a PAF or PAF Pro or Seymour Duncan JB with a 59. It's all based on your personal tastes.
Yes it is have a great week 🎸
Do you try to move the knobs on your amp to find the sweet spot of every humbucker?
Yes when i decide on the pickup i want to use, but for the test i left it the same to hear the differences in each humbucker
Thanks for the details and explanations 👍 Do you have a Gain tone test video, too ?
Awsome glad it was helpful
I have a Les Paul copy by Dillion Guitars that I put a Tone Zone in the bridge and an Air Zone in the neck.
You should have added Musiclily to this comparison. Also Dragronfire pickups.
Yes I just did a strat copy with musiclily/Wilkinson parts it’s good stuff and I will check out dragonfire thanks for the info have a great day
If you want great sounding pickups you need to get GFS pickups. They are under 35 bucks and the VEH sounds just as good as any JB or Super distortion at a fraction of the price.
I will have to try them too I mostly use high end pickups like lollar but I am really enjoying trying out the cheaper ones thanks for the info have a great weekend 🎸
I love the bridge VEH in my XV-585. At 11.2k of 43awg wire, I'd put it at ~5H. Those other two ae a bit higher inductance.
@@GCKelloch they have hotter pickups for sure like the SBS stuff. The VEH sounds just as good as the JB I used to have and the super distortion I used to have. GFS makes good stuff
@@sweezyjackson4935 A Dream 90 might be closer to a Super Distortion, although I think it has thicker wire. I prefer the VEH. I use a low capacitance cable to smooth and extend the high-end. It might sound a bit brittle with a higher C cable in a bright sounding guitar.
wilkinson wvcb pickups or better than the epiphone probuckers
I am not sure I haven’t played them but I heard the Epiphone stuff is really good. the Wilkinson pickups are great imo maybe I need to do a comparison video with Gibson, Epiphone, and a few others
Probuckers 👍 just installed them and they sound great.
dimarzio never fails, I have a d-activator X in my mockingbird and it serves me well
I have been into lollar the last few years but I am really impressed with the Dimarzio I have to say back in the day I would of thought it was mainly shredder gear but really they are great I am going to try more soon for sure
Cant go wrong with dimarzios.
do you have to replace the pods and stuff for these pickups?
Yes you can use same pots that were in the guitar
Blues can be played using any guitar. For 27$ those pickups are OK.
Music can be played using any guitar it just depends on how good your ear s for the detail to listen for 🎸
Type of amp helps out very much.
Defend yourself with a pointy headstock.
Or loose a eye lol 😂
