for me, the campaign strategy of VP Leni caused her massive failure.
I am not a Uniteam supporter and I didn't vote for BBM but I believe too much mudslinging and hurling of accusations against the BBM of Pinklawans had made BBM an "action hero" in the eyes of ordinary Filipinos. Rembember that masang Pinoys have deep compassion to the bullied and the "unjustly" wounded. All throughout the campaign, BBM had been tagged as "robber, corrupt," etc. while BBM kept silent on the issue and focused on his agenda and platform of unifying the Filipino people without answering back to his critics and hecklers. In the ordinary Filipinos' minds, BBM has become an "FPJ," a badly wounded "hero" who needed his much needed retribution. Sadly, the campaigners of VP Leni turned a blind eye on this Filipino cultural trait and continued to destroy BBM's character by bringing back past issues that had become irrelevant in the Filipino masses' immediate needs - to choose a person whom they believe can lead them to the future rather than consistently blaming a person who turned out to become their "hero" of the past issues of his family.
Her campaign started when she was elected last 2016. Unfortunately she was not able to convince the people bec of poor performance and inability to work together with the admin

The main reason is very clear to most of the Filipinos. For 30 years 1986 till 2016 many Filipinos were still blind…but they had started to see clearly in 2016….wherein the Yellows lost their power….in 2019 where most of the Yellow senators were flushed out.. ..and the Filipinos ‘ perception of BBM being cheated. BBM being seen as treated as an underdog more Filipinos were attracted to him. Another major reason is Leni Robredo’s big mouth. Besides her being not very good in communication.
Now Filipinos are much awakened…. Because of the social media for which the major communication mainstreams have not done. Using the word anti sod is not true. It’s just that our heavenly Father felt that that is ENOUGH for the Yellows and Company.

Not a traditional politician? I beg to disagree. Not wanted to run or had no ambition? I beg to disagree. She was always the content of the mainstream media. Her tweet alone was news. Her attendance even in a pedestrian event was in the headlines. She always broadcast her opposition to PRRD. Her media footages even showed that she is the next president with the symbols all around her telling tales. The truth is she had ambition, but she didn't just want it known. Why? She's a traditional politician too. Her advisers know how the game should be played. They are the master of bringing down a competitor when they catch a whiff the latter has a plan to challenge their bet in the election to come. Her party has done that to Villar and Binay who were frontrunners. If you lie with dogs, you get up with fleas. She didn't build a political base? She was meeting with mayors and governors in her personal and official sorties. You mean to say the LP has no plan of challenging a Duterte's surrogate? They even attempted to oust him many times, and though there's no proof that she was one of those behind them, there's no doubt if one of these ploys succeeded, she would be doing GMA now - Run and complete an eight- or nine-year term.

Are sure Cory Aquino really won the 1986 election? BBM's victory is the final nail to the coffin that the Yellow and LP's brand of politics are OVER. It started with PRRD. His triumph means that if the traditional and mainstream media continue to play the anti-Marcos trump card, the competition will be narrowed down to those media corporations who can be fair, vigilant, supportive, and enlightening to the public.

What made bbm and sara wins....it's because during pandemic, the yellows or liberals had took the situation to dethrone PRRD. They thought it was the greatest chance ever to lessen the popularity rate of the president. However, it backfired to them rather gain something from it. Filipinos realized that in times of need, this group did not only take advantage of the good old man and country's vulnerability, they also destroyed the core values of Filipinos which we have inherited from our ancestors...the words family, bayanihan, faith, patriotism, love and unity. It was a very wrong move from pink camp to associate themselves from the yellows. This election is the only way for Filipinos to turn tides and finishes the yellow rule once and for all. They have pushed us to our limits, tested our patience and endurance. Their selfishness and greed are some of the many reason why the silent majority decided to cast their votes and eventually, electing their greatest threat and enemy, the marcoses. Let's all face it, the people are so hungry for change and continuity....it happens that BBM-SARA came at the right time. It's all about timing, perseverance combined with unpredictable strategic moves

Hindi po nakalimutan ang Martial Law, and never po yan makakalimutan Sir. Pano natin makalimutan kung yung mga pulitiko na nakaupo nung martial law eh hanggang ngayon matatag padin. Namulat nalang po siguro ang mga pilipino, na for the longest time bakit sinisisi padin natin sa Martial law/Marcos Sr yung current status ng pilipinas. Ilang presidents na po ang na halal na naging reason na natapos ang martial law, but what happened, bakit ang ugat ng corruption ay hindi pa natatapos, since 1986 bakit until now hindi nagkakaroon ng settlement between government at mga kababayan nating npa? Kinalakihan ko na yung mga raleyesta during martial law ay the same people nung ang nakaupo ay presidents na anti-martial law advocates. I think one of the factors why he won is that THE FILIPINOS HATE THE DILAWANS VERY MUCH. Consider that as well. What transpired during the Martial Law is debatable. I've talked to people who have firsthand experience during Martial Law and they said it wasn't as heinous as the media was trying to portray it. What could be the contributing factors that affected her candidacy despite such claims of great following from her supporters as well as diehard fans? How come Bongbong was able to get the hearts of the people who were considered loyalist? From the rallying point up to the time the people have decided, their following was too contrasting so this is one of the possible factors of the big difference on the results. Leni chose to malign, condemn and besmirch BBM which greatly devastate her chances of winning. I studied Political Science in La Salle. Based on what I’ve learned, I can classify BBM as a charismatic leader which most of the time wins in an election. The negative campaigning and constant bashing against a charismatic leader backfired. This is what happened why Leni lost.

I voted for Senator Ping and Dr. Willie Ong and was hoping that they'll win but it's not just meant to be. I'm really sad tbh but hopeful. I will support President BBM and VP Sara though and give them the chance to prove themselves. Hopefully, I'd get to experience the positive things that my parents' experienced during President FEMs time. I think VP Leni didn't win is mainly because of negative and borderline toxic campaigning. I've read some comments of her supporters too, it's like they're insinuating that whoever votes for her is "thinking well or smart enough" which I think insulted a lot of Filipinos including me. Just because others have different beliefs that doesn't mean they're wrong and you're right. VP Leni's supporters should have considered that we all have DIFFERENT reasons, perspectives.. political views and life experiences.

I was born after Edsa so I asked some (yung mga kilala ko at random people) of those who experienced Martial Law. Their answers were different from the narratives of media and books. Parang yung sinasabing rebranding ay epekto nalang ng mga nadagdag na narrative from another perspective. mahirap din namang hindi maniwala sa kanila dahil saksi din cla sa buhay noon.

I agree with you, ibang iba talaga. We live inside a military base, I don’t remember much during that time but I recall na lagi kaming naka red alert. People were disciplined dahil syempre military lahat ng andoon at walang civilians. Marcos Sr was loved and respected because he, too, showed them respect. We even have a picture of him pinning a medal on my father’s chest in the jungle. Mas takot kami sa NPA kapag umuuwi kami sa province, kabilin bilinan ng mother ko na wag kong sasabihin na sundalo ang tatay ko dahil grabe ang presence ng npa sa probinsya nila, this was during Aquino regime na.

- negative campaigning, it's just toxic. mas madami pang time ginigugol dun kesa sa sariling platform na ikauunlad ng bansa.
- claim of history revisionism? : with social media and independent vloggers, nakikita ng mga tao na super biased ang mainstream media so we could tell that something was fishy with our published history. I'm not saying na malinis talaga pero there could be something twisted dun. D lang during this election napupuna ng mga tao na biased ang mainstream media but since the past few years. anyways, we could definitely see that our country is going downhill for the past 30+ years. d lang sa economy but in many aspects including ang pagbababoy ng kapaligiran.

This political analyst is wrong. Duterte also started as a reluctant candidate. It wasn't an excuse for him not to win. Both Duterte and Robredo had the machinery. What defeated Robredo is the lack of continuity that her candidacy and presidency bring. After all the constant attacks she threw at the administration and people surrounding her is either the same people that hate Duterte or support Ninoy. Ninoy underperformed and that resulted in a Duterte presidency, no matter what Leni does she will forever be associated with PNoy due to the people that help her during the campaign, does not matter if she ran independent and use a different color. Marcos won because he can be seen as a guy who will continue the projects of Duterte, BBM was always positive towards the administration and its projects - which got high approval ratings from the Class D (who are the majority). Duterte no matter how controversial he is has done the impossible - go out with a positive footnote in terms of sentiments and people wanted continuity. It also did not help that Leni's supporters were condescending and repulsive. They would cancel just about everyone including family members, sit on their moral high chair and judge people's character based on their preference which is not an ideal way of swaying or wooing the voters especially those who belong to the "laylayan". To be honest, this political analyst di marunong, got it all wrong.
