Can I ask what size ratchet you used? It’s not said in the video and I want to make sure I have the right parts for when the igniter comes in the mail. Thanks in advance!
Very good video. I actually worked for Maytag in Newton, Iowa in skilled trades for 17 years before Whirlpool purchased them and promptly closed the home plant. I work on many aspects of the Neptune line when it was introduced as well. Would just like to add that touching the igniter coil with your bare hands can cause an immediate failure of the coil from the oil on your hands. So either be very careful to not touch it, or use cloth or nitrile gloves to prevent this from happening. I learned this the hard way and then got the advice from our on site repair that was called "Red Carpet" to not touch the coil. My dryer is currently not lighting properly and I suspect that it's the coil. My dryer is 23 years old and doing fine otherwise. Thanks for the good info!
You are awesome man! Thanks so much for posting this. Precisely our unit, and you have saved us from having to hand another $100.00 to American Home Warrantee!!! I have liked and will share with my network. Again, thanks so very much for this great How-To....

Thanks for the video. Good info. Mine lights, flames for 20 seconds. Stops for a couple of minutes, relights for about seven seconds, stops for a couple minutes, and then delights for six seconds, etc. Any ideas?
Helpful in that I was able to quickly verify my igniter was still working and I was getting flame. After that though (this just after having replaced motor, belt and the front felt the previous day), it turned out the clicking/grinding noise that periodically followed (turning on and off while "drying" was in progress) was likely the ignition solenoid coils not working right (and thanks to a couple of reviews at amazon with mentions of such noises). This confirmed as also after a while it became evident that the heat stopped working after a several minutes also. (Spent all last night drying two sets of rugs 20 minutes at a time and then letting things cool down for a bit and doing 20 more minutes etc. Long night!) So anyway coils just replaced, will soon find out if it's all good now…
Hi, Scott! I have a 20 yo MAH5500B. The igniter glows, the flame comes on for about a minute, then shuts off. What is the most likely culprit here? I don't have a multitester to help with diagnostics, plan on getting it tomorrow. But if it sounds like a sure case of (insert the name of a burned out part here) failure, I'll just order it right away... Cheers!
Hi Yelena, I’d say it’s time for new primary and secondary gas coils. You might have a clogged vent tube. That causes overheating and will shut off the flame.
Hi. We have the exact same dryer shown in the thumbnail (Maytag Neptune). We have to press buttons multiple times for the dryer to perform the action. The plastic above the electronics screen gets hot. The dryer beeps randomly. And sometimes it stops running on it's own. Will this fix those issues? If not, what would you recommend? Thank you so much for making these videos!
Hi Nathalie, I think for your dryer you need to replace the control assembly. You may only be able to find one on eBay but I think that will fix the problem.
@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance I found some on Ebay. Thank you for the suggestion :). I can obviously check elsewhere for an installation video, but do you have one I can watch? I'd love to give you our views! Haha
Many thanks...had a repairman come and look at it as it wasn't heating...he claimed he couldn't get parts right now and had to order them from from the supply house and they alone would be over $100 and he would call me back when they arrive..load of bull...that was 2 weeks ago and no phone call back from him..guess what..he's not getting paid for his service call either as he thinks and will get a poor review on google and yelp from me.. I ordered the coils from Amazon for $16 bucks and had it up and running in short order.
Thank you so much for this easy to understand instructional video. You save me a great deal of money ordered the part change the ignitor now my dryer works. Cylinoid's ame with the kit I'm gonna keep them in case I need to replace them.
I could hear the solenoid click but the igniter never glowed. I had 110Vac going to the igniter but no glow. If you don’t have 110 volts then the coil should be replaced.
@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance Ah ok thanks. As long as I have it opened up (20 year old unit), do you recommend replacing just the failed part (let's say igniter) or the coils as well (even though they might still be ok, but again, they're 20 years old)?
Hey there! I have a Maytag Neptune and everything seems to work except that it appears to be frozen. None of the buttons can be pressed, but all the lights work. I cannot turn it on/off or change settings at all. I had to unplug it since it just stays frozen on if it's plugged in.
Hello, HELP! I did what you said without testing the fuses I don’t have a tester to do so but I noticed the igniter was not lighting up. So I bought a new igniter & everything was fine. The kids and I started washing like crazy until this morning, the igniter is out already. So my question is, do you think there’s something that caused the igniter to blow out so quickly. Which component would cause that? Please & thank you!
My igniter works for about 30 seconds then fades out. I hope the igniter is the problem. I suppose it can be a connection to the igniter problem, dk. Anybody??
Thank you good sir. I went ahead and ordered the coils and igniter. I'm gonna replace both as I know the igniter is old and probably ready to go. Thank you again 🙂
Followed all of your steps, and one $18 dryer igniter on Amazon later, I avoided buying a new dryer! THANK YOU!!!!!
I love it, thanks for the update👍

Thank you for this video! Mine was the igniter! Couldn't have done it without this video.
Thanks so much James😊👍
Thanks for the great video! This was exactly what was wrong with my daughter’s dryer. Followed your instructions exactly and fixed it without fuss.

Great Info. Paul, thank you😊
Vid is great--you get right into it and go at just the right pace--NO RAMBLING or FILLER. Thank you!!!!
You’re very welcome😊
Yep. Quick, cheap fix. My igniter was bad also. Thanks VERY much for your video! Much appreciated.
You’re most welcome😊

Thanks for your instructional video, well done and is perfect! Because of your video the ignitor replacement fixed my gas dryer! Thanks again!

Nicely done👍
Very clear instructions and useful tips!
Do you have a link on the angle tool you used to remove the 1/4 inch machine screw?
It’s made by Dewalt and I got it at Home Depot for about 25 bucks
Thanks!
Thanks so much Aileen😊❤️👍

Good idea Doug,
You may need those solenoids later on.
I can’t find my model number on amazon for the ignitor, MDG4000AWW, does it matter?
Here you are Rick:amzn.to/3PBecA8
Hey, how'd you know it wasn't the solenoids?
I could hear the solenoid click but the igniter never glowed.

Check to see if your belt has given away.

Time for a new thermal fuse .

Do you ever get a flame?
I think you need to replace the 2 round black gas coils.
Thank you good sir. I went ahead and ordered the coils and igniter. I'm gonna replace both as I know the igniter is old and probably ready to go. Thank you again 🙂
My ignitor lights up but it doesn't shot flames
Me too, that’s where I’m stuck.
Im going to assume then its your gas valves. Also cheap. If you click on his amazon link its in the bottom under buy all 3
@@shawnkratochvil1702 hmm...don’t see that link
i've watched other vidoes that say if that's the case (low flames) then it could be the coils. But I guess that's low flames, not no flames
I'm in the same boat. I see the ignitor light up but no flames. Any guesses?
Does anyone make replacement parts for Maytag dryers? I need a Dryer Temperature Control Thermistor 6 3072080. Any help?
Here you are:amzn.to/3NbCGx1
Thank you! Igniter was my problem as well. Much appreciated!!
