For Weta Workshop, The Lord of the Rings signified a coming of age. We spent seven years on the project; a small, hand-crafted piece in the overall puzzle, and yet it remains a high watermark for us in terms of scale and complexity.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of these beloved films, we've created one of our most detailed pieces yet; Bilbo Baggins in Bag End. This 1:6 scale statue is now open for pre-order, but not for long - secure yours before June 21 (PDT).

This is beautifully done! This video takes me back to the many delightful hours I spent watching the special features on the Lord of the Rings movies. What a gorgeously detailed work. I wants it!
Those special features remain unrivalled to this day, they transport you almost as much as the movies themselves

I loved the close ups of some of the paper props. It always amazes me how much thought went into props that the average viewer would probably never even notice, but which gave Middle Earth such a real and lived in feel.
The team put an incredible amount of effort into making the world of Middle-earth feel not just alive, but also lived in. It helps both the audience and the actors on set 😊

WOWSERS! This is absolutely fantastic, you can just get lost in the sculpt whilst looking at it. So much detail, anyone would be proud of having that on their Middle Earth Mantelpiece!

Too expensive for a mass production item
Limited edition set by the number of pre-orders within a set time, not mass produced.
Honestly I was expecting it to be more expensive and was sad that I might have to miss it. Now it's within my price range and I'm so excited!

2:34 Does it for me. The way Bilbo is both looking at you, as well as thinking off and away into the journey.... is captured. This is truly remarkable. What wonderful skill the creators have and their love and respect for their work truly shines. I am so tempted for the large one... heck I guess I could eat toast for a few months hehe, as let's face it guys.... in a years time, or 10... the initial effort to own this will well and truly outshine the initial cost,.... and how many times have you wished you had have taken the plunge and yet still missed out on previous WETA works. Plenty of times for me ...Methinks... not this time :)

Question, why does the chimney have that unfinished look? Where there’s a hole in it? Not a complaint, just generally curious.
Good question indeed! We thought it looked more interesting to see into the chimney rather than just having a big blocky brick piece sticking out the side. It also keeps in theme with the "cross-section" style of the environment where you can see the interior of the walls and surrounding earth. Hope that answers your question 👍

It's a stunning piece, and offering it in two versions is a great idea too.
But you should allow payment plan in 8 or 10 instalments for the limited edition.

I've ordered the large version, it just oozes quality. I also love how the artists, in the video, enthuse about the piece. You can see how enthralled they are by what they have created. Love to see real craftsmen, and at Weta they have a plethora of them.

As mentioned in the video, we were lucky enough to have access to an incredible archive documenting many of the original props from the film. We really wanted to be as precise as possible with this one.
So beautiful, pity these are mass produced in China, i would prefer Kiwi artists building all these. Unfortunately I cannot afford this one.

Are the paper props made out of paper or are they sculpted?
The sheets of paper scattered around the room are indeed made from paper 👍
Are these made in New Zealand or China?
Our artists create what we call the 'paint masters' here at Weta Workshop, in New Zealand. We send these to our manufacturing partner in China for reproduction. Hope this helps!

Pre-ordered! I hope the final product will be as beautiful as the prototype, and that the pre-order count stays pretty low so I can make the exuse to my wife that it is very limited and a great investment....when she declares me mad for spending so much money :p

But it’s 1,200 dollars. I love the movies and the stories of Tolkien but not to spend a couple months rent on a small piece of plastic. Now if it was MAYBE say $100 I would possibly consider.
