      extually no, this mounth our salaries increased %36. we have high enflation because of currency crysis not economc crysis. but ppp itself wrong indicator

    The gdp of Spain in 2020 is 1,281 bilions NOT 1961 !!USD, THIS IS NOT CORRECT.

    in italy the gdp collapsed with the arrival of the euro in 1999! Germany played dirty and kept a currency at too high rates for Italy which made our products not very competitive and its very competitive! moreover, it did not respect the export limit rule and penalized the economies of Italy and France!

      correct me if i'm wrong but doesn't Italy have to use alot of money from their annual Budget just to service debt with very high interest rates (6-10% or more) that they all accumulated in the 70s or 80s with these high interest rates?
      i read that somewhere few years ago.

      not really, as germany was forced by the other nations to agree to the Euro when the renufication happened. So how is it playing dirty, when the "plan" didn't come from germany?

      The rate for Italian Lira and Euro was 2500:1

      Doesn't change the fact that Germany was forced to agree to the euro, so it's just wrong to say that "Germany played dirty" as the euro wasn't even germanies idea.

      @@johndavepabuaya7393 Yes, true. GDP per capita is a completely new story. Plus, they only have 2 wealthier regions one of which is historically Hungarian. The rest of the country is quite poor and the population decline is evident.

    Russia is #1 in Europe by primary energy consumption (real size of any economy). This PPP is only by food parity (Habmurger of The Economist/IMF)

      This is adjusted by purchasing power parity (PPP, it takes into account different purchasing power of the dollar in different countries, 1$ buys different amounts of goods in different countries, this approach is better for international comparisons). Typically, in poorer countries, 1$ buys more goods than in richer countries.

      @@JanuszKrysztofiak yeah PPP rankings are so much better, for example gdp per capita nominal in Liechtenstein is 180k USD but PPP it is actually 140k, still very high but quite a huge difference.

      in reality here we are talking about purchasing power parity ... if you consider the nominal gdp it was second, behind germany , more or less on par with france ahead of great britain!

      It was the years of the "Economic Boom". Between the 70-80.
      Then the economy was plagued by those who decided to get retirement before the actual age.
      A huge hole in the State treasury was made and since then we had to pay it year after year with the sacrifice of all the other generations.
      But that paid since our economy today is stronger, our GDP is the only one to grow now, we have little inflation due to the gas crisis... Our gas stocks are full.
      The last two governments was absolutely perfect no matter what the citizens says about them.
      We are now at the point or becoming the first economic and military power of Europe.

      If sweden has for example 400B$ GDP / 9million people = 44.000 $ per capita
      If romania has 500B $ GDP / 20million people = 25.000 $ per capita
      you see, in spite of romania having a higher gdp, the people in sweden have more money because there are fewer people

      Russia needs high levels of energy consumption due to the fact they live permanently in the icy age.
      Other countries don't need to waste all that energy.

      Russia does not live in a permanent ice age, and 2/3 of the cold territories of Russia are almost not inhabited at all. Almost all Russians live in a temperate climate zone. Plus, in warmer countries, primary energy is spent more on air conditioners and cooling, so in the end that's it. Primary energy consumption is the best indicator of the volume of the economy. This is confirmed by people from the West who have moved to live in Russia: taking into account the difference in the cost of living, the standard of living in Russia and in the West is the same

      And you thought that all these years we ate boiled hedgehogs? We have processors with our own architecture, our own IT giants and medical technologies, which I cannot find analogues in Europe (Now I work for one game studio in the Czech Republic and live in Prague, but before that I lived in Siberia). China will give us all a head start in the development of the economy and technology, so we need to work even better and harder.

      @Dark Warrior Sanctions have little effect on Russia. And Russia's economy is larger than that of France, Italy and Spain combined. Here is the most objective display of the size of the world's economies, stripped of artificial exchange rates, search for "countries by primary energy consumption" and look at the list from Statista or yearbook enerdata. The sheer size of Russia's real economy is a factor why a whole golden billion can do nothing with Russia. If Russia allegedly had an economy the size of Spain, Russia would have been crushed long ago
