The old early 1960s Thunderbirds movie and TV show is kinda that vibe you are talking about, its a combination of electrically controlled puppets and practical with some stop motion special effects.....kinda creepy, kinda cool, kinda corny all at the same time, if your into mid century design, retro futurism scifi and cheezy B movies give it a try😉👍

How has nobody ever made a movie using ONLY animatronics?
Animatronics have very limited movement. So making a movie with them would be not much different than stop motion movies.
