I think u should switch back to a spread. The offense was doin great and Julian Wall was dominating with that scheme. Zone run will bring the offense back to garbage again

I respectfully disagree. The spread offense hampers your time of possesion; which is why the defense was so poor at the beginning of the season. Vertical offense is a good middle ground.
Round 1: WR Shaydon Underwood - B- (Another WR with good talent but is a luxury pick - considering Mann was gonna be there later, I think another position should had been drafted) Round 1: TE Trip Bequette - B+ (He's basically an Njoke clone that's cheaper for the next 5 years) Round 3: LE Najee Benford - C (He's okay depth but I think there were better players available) Round 3: FS Rashad Wiggins - C (He's okay depth - you have Xavier Woods and Pugh already at FS though) Round 4: HB Harvey Lumpkin - D (He wouldn't be a bad player if you were playing games but he won't be productive in a simulation) Round 4: HB Ace Harrison - A (Great value; won't produce too well but he'll be similar to Shaw's numbers at a much cheaper cost - hopefully he can develop into a higher overall and be the first HB to average over 4 yards a carry for a season) Round 6: WR Javonte Mann - A (I love the value for him) Round 6: CB Darian Huber - B (quality depth - get awareness up and maybe he can be a solid CB one day) Round 6: CB Cordaviuos Heyman - C (he will probably never develop into a productive player but I see why you took him as a late round flyer) Overall: C+ or B- You got a lot of talented players, I just don't think this team improved on paper. Maybe they'll sim better but I think the defense was the weakness last season and this draft was mainly offensive focused like you mentioned.
yeah the B- is a little harsh - I graded that based off need. Probably should had been a B or B+. I didn't rate Underwood very high just because I knew Mann was close to his talent and would be more available along with the fact he has two good WR's on the roster in Spencer Morris and Wall. So I agree with you.
This might be my favorite rebuild someone has done on the browns I think when you finish this rebuild you should take what you have learned from this style of madden And use it to make your next one (if you do one) even better then the browns
I think there has always been talent on defense and the schematic changes will help there. This might be the best supporting cast on offense that Greenberry has had. No excuses for him this year. A lot of people have been saying you didn't improve the team much overall and that's true but I don't think the problem has been talent it's been execution, and I think the moves you made put the talent you have in a better position to execute. I hope so anyway. If not, next year would be a better time to blow it up than this year was. edit: I will say I think Garrett at 3-4 DE and Merriman starting at OLB would be better and then rotating Browning and Long at DT would be better.
For someone so desperately in love with running backs its morbidly terrifying to watch you put RBs on your draft board that don't even have B carrying and ballcarrier vision.... much less actually waste a 4th round pick on one. Start Merriman at outside LB and move Myles Garrett back at DE... For someone who is I know is looking for ways to contain Wall when you play the Ravens.. two OVR 70 DEs isn't going to be the solution to shut down a scrambler.
Currently binge watching this series and I know I'm a little late here but Miles Garrett would've been fine at a 3-4 DE. That would've solidified your line a lot and Merriman probably wouldn't have been a bad starting edge rusher. Certainly better than having a 69 ovr LE.

I took peppers and moved him to rolb moved him more into a coverage near the line with minimal rushing and run a zone blitz for scheme with vertical offense! Paying off so far!

At 35:27 you take the trade down from the Colts instead of the Bears and say it's the same offer, but the Colts offered a 2025 4th rounder and the Bears offered a 2024 4th rounder. If you needed to get better this year, this was kind of a big mistake. Also, I've found some gems in the undrafted talent, you just have to use the last two weeks scouting the undrafted guys with really high combine numbers. I found a 80 overall MLB with superstar dev. in the most recent draft class, which kind of sucked because I also drafted a MLB with the same stats, but he was the 8th overall pick. You can also always find guards or centers in the 5th or 6th that have greta combines, they're always highly rated. Just switch centers to guards after draft.
He played it smart by trading njoku now cause next year he would have let him walk since he wouldn’t be able to afford him so he got some return value now before it was to late so he could draft a good younger cheaper replacement
Have you thought about trying to resign certain players before their contracts expire and they become unrestricted free agents? It would add a whole new element to some of your videos, and potentially allow you to keep some players who you otherwise tend to lose, due to their market price heightening by the season's end.

Definitely needed a new head coach. Good move, would have liked to see more focus on defense especially on the front four. Hopefully you can pick up some guys that can shed some blocks on the line.
You got a lot of great players in this draft and your offense should terrorize the league for years to come. In not selecting much defense you've even given your team an identity. For most of this rebuild your team overalls have suggested a jack of all trades team where nothing is great and nothing sucks. As a result it was unclear what actually needed upgrading. Now you've clearly committed to being an offense oriented team. The defensive line sucks but it is still developing and will end up being good, but by then your secondary will be gone with Jones and Garrett reaching the twilight of their careers. This draft will be the best thing to happen to this rebuild since Greenberry, though it might not show this season.
Maybe start looking at traits as well more. Something, like throwing the ball away, should have been applied a lot earlier on. That is the difference between most okay QBs and most great ones. That is one of Baker Mayfield's best qualities. He is great at bailing his team out of trouble.
A tip Cane. Go into scheme and not just change the overall scheme, but change your player preference to either what a current player is or draft for the type that you want to change it to. For instance change your DEs and DTs to run stoppers and it should help their overalls
Finally! You pick well and adress real problems! Cruddy offensive skill players. Also, Greenberry needs to go! He's all talk and no walk. He isn't a cornerstone players. With this new core if he can't get it done, package him and send him off to pick high next year. Defenses win championships, but at this point we aren't even seeing playoff games.

Your defense should be fine, I was very surprised to see them at the bottom of the barrel last season TBH. This should be a solid top 10 defense, then again I thought so last season too, hopefully the coaching change helps fix that. I predict an 11-5 season, winning the AFC North AND a championship appearance.

I think if you go into the schemes menu and scroll over through all the player type preferences and switch DEs to 3-4 run stopper/versatile and OLBs to 3-4 pass rusher their overalls will go up

You really should have kept McLaughlan and just drafted the TE Bequette. Greenberry already underperforms, and I hope that doesn't suffer further now that the O-Line is crippled further. And WRs are not that hard to pick up for the sake of depth.
You make the mistake every year in not scouting talent later in the rounds on the defensive side of the ball. You need a backup QB, K and P and honestly, I'd see what kind of ends are available after the drop in overall to your DT's, but stopping the run was a problem last year and all three D-Line men can do that if not much else. Looking at Garrett and Hayden to produce as pass rushers at OLB and Garrett seems to be the only one who would be able to do that. I really think you have to look at Pugh and Howard to see who deserves the job at FS, maybe alternate them to start one and backup the next in the preseason to get a look at how they perform. You need another competent MLB in case of disaster injuries at the position and maybe at WR and CB too. Greenberry is probably at the last chance saloon this year, he should produce with the talent around him. Can't see Ace doing different at HB for us this year and although I agree Parker Shaw was very replaceable, he was a very good option in the pass game for Greenberry. I think talent wise this team should go 11-5 but with the way this series has gone, a 9-7 season is probably the best you can hope for right now.

When you trade for a player, the signing bonus doesn't carryover so you get a bit of a discount on the payments. You probably should have traded for Foreman.
Juan Rodriguez There’s not much to do on defense. The guys just need to develop. Plus there’s never really any big defensive names in free agency. The only real one was Deion Jones and he signed him
Walls not defensively. The overalls on defense are not very high. He has a few like Jones and garret other than that I'm mot surprised this defense is ranked 32nd. Should've made some trades for defensive help.
He switched schemes in the offseason so his scouting was done with a 4-3 in mind and all his personnel is geared towards running a 3-4 which is why the overalls are wonky. It will take a full year of scouting and a full offseason to get his defense back where it should and will be.
You know what I would have done? I would have taken Dallas' deal (the offer they made for deion Jones) and then take the 2nd and 7th pick and add Njoku and get another first round pick. I would also have looked into a new outside linebacker. Also Telvin Smith from Jacksonville is pretty easy to get and he is a very high rated player once put to safety.
Overall a lateral move in my opinion, if nothing else you got younger and that's cool but I think you're still a year or two away from actually contending for anything (barring production from Pickberry)

Honestly, the way this series has been going he'll miraculously have a top 5 defense this year but his offense will suddenly suck and be dead last.

Instead of taking flyers on unscouted players, you should spend a few points on kickers. You can get a great one in the 6th or 7th round.

Walls not defensively. The overalls on defense are not very high. He has a few like Jones and garret other than that I'm mot surprised this defense is ranked 32nd. Should've made some trades for defensive help.
I think he should have tried harder to keep the ends and d-tackles he’s let go.
He has so much cap room, I expect next offseason to be much more fruitful.
He switched schemes in the offseason so his scouting was done with a 4-3 in mind and all his personnel is geared towards running a 3-4 which is why the overalls are wonky. It will take a full year of scouting and a full offseason to get his defense back where it should and will be.
It’d be cool if you’d get a response for a trade that they like it before you can actually trade so it doesn’t just auto trade.

Don’t think you should play Garrett full time at outside linebacker. He could prolly succeed at 3-4 DE just as well. Time will tell I guess

You know what I would have done? I would have taken Dallas' deal (the offer they made for deion Jones) and then take the 2nd and 7th pick and add Njoku and get another first round pick. I would also have looked into a new outside linebacker. Also Telvin Smith from Jacksonville is pretty easy to get and he is a very high rated player once put to safety.
Why so many wideouts every year?
Either go back to the spread or switch to the west coast playbook, cuts down on INTs a bunch.
If you want your d-line men overalls to go up, change the DT, RE and LE schemes.
I don’t think you’re spending your coach xp. That helps a ton with extra draft points, and extra player progressions.
Overall a lateral move in my opinion, if nothing else you got younger and that's cool but I think you're still a year or two away from actually contending for anything (barring production from Pickberry)
Also pretty sure your DEs overalls got tanked because it's still registering you as a 4-3. Could be wrong but it said 4-3 next to Matt Hedrick.
