Love this video! Reminds me of the old 16mm instructional films from the 60's, which always did an excellent job of explaining things clearly, without a lot of fluff & glamor. Thank You!

Bought this type several months ago and need to know how to operate it. Tangled up the snake inside my drum drain cleaner yesterday. This is so much more portable. If you are an Arnold Swarzie, it is like picking up feathers...not for me. Lugging my 3/8" 50' pacific hydro star (PHS) is a workout in and of itself...if it were 5/8" and a 100', it would be unmovabe...I have a K-50 knock-off with 2 60' 5/8" cable section sets. Each set has 3 20' sections. Needed to clear several clogs for a client yesterday, but got my PHS kinked up in the drum during clog #2. The drum cannot be opened and it will take several hours with lots of cursing, to hopefully get it untangled and working again. The knock-off is very flexible and if there is a clog past 50', it can go to 100'. It will never get tangled up. It is worth the very-minor-pain-in-the-a$$ to lock and unlock the sections. My drum snake is a 1-trick / size pony. My knock-off has a canister with a smaller cable, which also allows for snaking much smaller drains. It is not practical to clean the cable of the PHS. The knock-off's cables can just be sprayed off with a hose while in the holder, and since everything is open, can dry and air out fairly quickly. So yes, the K-50 type snakes /drain cleaners are so worth it!

What application is this machine good in. seems more like a pain that you would have to keep joining sections together.

Seems like a lot of work to add cable and it sticks out the back about 12'. Seems messy and a more work than a drum.

@@hermanwulf6677 sticks out about 6ft… but it’s inside a sheath.
It spins at 400 rpm. Your drum machine is closer to 100 rpm. The open winding cable also will go places a drum machine only dreams of. It’s very easy to keep track of how far down the line you are because you can count sections. It also cleans urinal and greasy drains far better than a drum machine.
Sectionals are superior. They just aren’t as convenient as a drum machine and require a different technique as they has more rpm vs torque. They are also FAR FAR FAR safer. Drum machines have killed more people than you can even imagine
