It really resonated with me about the 2nd November being about memories of those who have gone before us. I keep coming across old black and white photos of my Mum. It does take you back to happier times when I could sit down and have a cup of tea with her. Anyway, you definitely don't need a test run with your expertise, Anita. You were lucky the beetroot didn't stain the floor. You have such a great creative mind, too. It was certainly a beautiful result. I bet it tasted wonderful, too. Hello there Donna, on this sunny but crisp Tuesday. Oh girl, that beetroot was everywhere. I love my beetroot. I purposefully looked for the beetroot recipe as I prefer that to artificial colouring. I'll bake that cake for my daughter in law when I am in New Zealand next- now she could only see it and not taste it LOL. I so get the weary eyes thing Donna. I didn't have time to cook anything Halloweeny. I was too busy carving turnips. I do have a LOT of mashed turnip however. It's an old tradition here to carve turnips, not pumpkins. I try to keep the old traditions going. (You may know turnips as Swedes, Swedish turnips or Rutabagas.) I have a much faster way to deal with beetroot. Take it out of the cupboard and throw it in the bin. (Guess who doesn't like beetroot?) Oh look. It seems your subconscious mind thinks the same way I do. 😂 On the other hand, my sister adores beetroot. Did I mention that my sister is strange? 🤣 It's lucky you had too much beetroot. That would be the 'something else' you were saving it for. (Subconscious mind again). Was that really beetroot juice on the floor or were you having a murder mystery party too? 🕵️♀️ There's an old saying I use a lot. 'A crash and a bang and it's done. Either that or it's all over the floor'. I have no idea how much anything rises, even though I've used the recipe before. The other day I made some apple pies with puff pastry and they rose! My puff pastry always comes out like shortcrust pastry. It NEVER rises!! Happy Birthday Kylie!! 🥳🎉🥳🍰🍰🎂🎂 Your cakes do look very, very nice. I could eat 20kg of liquorice in one go. Hello there Donna, on this sunny but crisp Tuesday. Oh girl, that beetroot was everywhere. I love my beetroot. I purposefully looked for the beetroot recipe as I prefer that to artificial colouring. I'll bake that cake for my daughter in law when I am in New Zealand next- now she could only see it and not taste it LOL. I so get the weary eyes thing Donna. We used to have a Mass on the 2nd to remember our loved and lost relatives and friends. Oh yes the beetroot spill. Man that was messy. The wee pumpkins were prettier than I thought they would be. I didn't have time to cook anything Halloweeny. I was too busy carving turnips. I do have a LOT of mashed turnip however. It's an old tradition here to carve turnips, not pumpkins. I try to keep the old traditions going. (You may know turnips as Swedes, Swedish turnips or Rutabagas.)
I have a much faster way to deal with beetroot. Take it out of the cupboard and throw it in the bin. (Guess who doesn't like beetroot?) Oh look. It seems your subconscious mind thinks the same way I do. 😂 On the other hand, my sister adores beetroot. Did I mention that my sister is strange? 🤣
It's lucky you had too much beetroot. That would be the 'something else' you were saving it for. (Subconscious mind again). Was that really beetroot juice on the floor or were you having a murder mystery party too? 🕵️♀️
There's an old saying I use a lot. 'A crash and a bang and it's done. Either that or it's all over the floor'.
I have no idea how much anything rises, even though I've used the recipe before. The other day I made some apple pies with puff pastry and they rose! My puff pastry always comes out like shortcrust pastry. It NEVER rises!!
