A rare instance of a Japanese-made NES game based on a U.S.-originated comic book (en.wikipedia.or..., Bucky O'Hare (1992) provides a player with a good combination of platforming action similar to Mega Man, an interesting plot, and convincing production values. You can play as one of the five unique characters, which you are free to select at any time, after saving them from the clutches of the Toad Empire. Each character has special abilities required to take advantage of in order to pass through the game's numerous variably designed stages, ranging from single-screen puzzle rooms to autoscrolling shoot-'em-ups.
Interesting fact about this game is that Konami used to implement unconventional ways of piracy protection, in this particular case by making each hit or an otherwise harmful collision in the game result in an instant death if you play it illegitimately. Apparently, this was how a large amount of people were used to playing it in pre-emulation era, without ever finding out Konami's little sabotage.
This movie by AnS is set up in a fashion that imitates this handicap by playing the game in hard mode (accessing it through a password), where every hit results in death. Other than that, it also improves the previous movie by 2 minutes 48.7 seconds, using several major glitches and a lot of small tricks explained in great detail in the author's comments (tasvideos.org/1....

This game is like a combination of Battle Toads, Mega man and the game the first TMNT should have been.

This game is literally my childhood from 20 years ago,i enjoy watching and playing it to this day

Bucky headbanging to the awesome boss music on the first level was a nice touch.

Anyone consider it creepy how the toads aren't trying to stop you after your blow the tanker, they're all going "TAKE ME WITH YOU, PLEASE!"
This game is incredibly hard. Even on easy. When I was 10 I played this game until my eyes and hands bled. I never beat it but came close. I tried it again 20 years later and can't get past the fifth level. Damn what happened to me 😭😭. Great TAS

The game is played and recorded with a tool that slows down the game, enables quick-save / quick-load and other stuff.
So the stuff you see here is impossible for a Human with a "normal" NES.
TAS = the answer to the "what if everything went perfect".

I never knew this was a long game. I never get past the 1st stage. Awesome music.
So, my 5th grade teacher kept me in class as punishment. I found a copy of this game under his shittty 1991 pc. This is a true test of old school gamers. Sure, i was in the wrong but i became amazing at NES games as a result.
One of my favorite NES games! And I grew up in the 16- and 32-bit era.
This game has fantastic varied gameplay and amazing music that still never gets good recognition!

I loved this game. I hope it gets a remake or remaster with Bruiser added. Or atleast it gets added to the NES Switch app

I know this was a loong time ago but I (On my new account now c:) was just asking how do you fire so fast, since i was TASing myself back then, and I could not fire that fast.
This is a program actually playing the game, there are segments and things that's not humanly possible to do in this run.

I usually beat the stages in the following order: Green Planet, Blue Planet, Yellow Planet and Red Planet last. Jenny and Willies are my favorite characters besides Bucky O'Hare; Blinky and Deadeye have this advantages as well :)

It's a TAS. Tool-assisted speedrun. Every controller input was carefully placed (by a human) for frame-precise actions, removing any human error from the final product.

It does; you have to enter a password, which is "HARD!".

Я проходил такую в детстве. Жесть конечно. И смерть с касания это не конец игры. Три жизни же есть. Уровень с начала начинается и ещё две попытки есть. А так любой урон и сразу минус жизнь

Have to say, the style and rhythm that went into this run was beautiful.
The idling moments in the auto scrollers going to the beat of the BGM made me smile.

Sure, the characters aren't as well known as the ninja turtles or other late 80's early 90's TV show characters, but this game kicks butt. If you haven't played it, it is in many ways similar to the classic Mega Man series.
