Mad respect to not only Frank, but the whole rest of the band and crew for being able to slide right into place and play such a ridiculously great show. Hope everybody is back to full health and back at it!
Tank the tech uploaded a cideo today, saying that after this gig, he played two more and at the end he basically hit all of the small things David would. With only a few small things he didnt. That tells you how great of a drummer he is.
I'm from Germany and never heard of this band till yesterday. Then watched the "Rock im Park" gig from 2024. This morning I watched the YT vid about the drummer problem of EC and that Frank from Sum 41 solved it. Hell, that's music business at its best. Congrats to Frank and his skill. Thanx for sharing this historical music video. Greetings to "Down Under" from Germany.
we are witnessing someone just drumeo a live performance performed it and perfected it on the go.. what a legend FRANK.. Get well soon deryck and david..

Crazy comment. I'm chronically ill and I didn't go to shows for 10 years. Totally just realized I didn't go for all that time because i'm chronically ill, i've been going since COVID ended and it's been a blast. I'm surprised at how updated i stayed in the '10s thanks to youtube. As someone who did it a lot, then nothing, then is doing it again; trust me, the right youtube recording gets pretty freaking close! I'd say it's 70% there if you watch it fullscreen, for real. This upload is definitely one of those. ..and that's if you actually go into the pit, if you don't, it's basically the same thing if you're actually there for the music.
Yeah it’s awesome for this and phone mics now have decent mixes and it’s not so blown out you can hear the music better than if you were there in person without earplugs.

this makes my heart happy!! i would have been gutted if they had to pass up the chance of a headline slot! They have worked so hard for it! and at least the Sum41 fans were treated to a fun show even if it wasnt what they wanted to start with, what an absolute diamond of a man Frank is for cancelling his clinics to help them out at the other gigs too !! thanks for the video x
As a drummer myself, I can hear how Frank is struggling with some of the cues, and I can just imagine the adrenaline rush he must have had the entire time :D But still, he gets along just fine most of the time. And that after just 5 hours in the hotel lap drumming! This guy drumeo'ed a whole concert, what a machine!
the other show as per tank, zummo perfected everything. his preparation for this one is only 5hrs. with just live performances recordings doesnt even have a drum set to practice it
Fantastic time, and Zummo killed it. I was on the other side and it went off the entire time. People in full costume, several mosh pits breaking out, the wall of death, non-stop dancing and singing. It was brutal with the heat but people didn't stop going wild the entire set
never listened to them before, was off on the left side sitting down just watching the big screen and i was like damn these guys are actually so good, now a fan 🫡
@@emilyhullt3521 they are all awesomely talented musicians, sadly the drummer David couldn’t be here but check out their other stuff online -hours of great music and entertainment.

Frank was great. If I didn’t know the songs so well I would have never known that he was back there. I actually like some of the differences I heard. Even if he was bit different he was able to play the songs very well.
Was having a few beers in NZ a month ago and said where are they playing? Next minute, trip booked and saw them in Sydney. Amazing set and well done Aussie for putting together a great festival, you do it right!!
I do hear that it sounds different, but holy moly its impressive that Frank managed to pull this off SO WELL. Huge respect that he helped out another Band, no hesitation. What a guy
absolutely, i watched EC now multiple times live and you can hear the difference and every difference if u hear the songs daily but the Felling was still there and they just fucking delivered.
That high quality sound was thanks to the talented sound engineer, FOH manager Bollo. EC is not only talented and professional as a band but their crew also. Check out the band Vlogs to see more of the crew too
Tale after tale of professional musicians pulling off miracles like this and we still have the audacity to shit on them every day. Like they aren't all professionals with thousands and thousands of hours of passion poured. Even musicians playing the simplest of music doesn't mean that's their limit. That doesn't define their style. That isn't who they are. The Sum 41 drummer just did this. How many Meshuggah elitists would just write it off like it's not worth their time and he's just another poppy drummer doing something their drummer could obviously do? Remember shit like this when you're considering other musicians and the work they put in, regardless of whether you like their music or not.
I saw them in Melbourne, and have been listening to them all week! Thanks for recording the show. Edit: Did Sum 41 play in Sydney? They didn’t down here due to illness:(
@DJ_ODSY lol same here, i was just chilling what I thought was kinda far back and then all of a sudden I'm thrown in a huge circle pit. Good times though
Um it was 31 degrees C (88 F) and 97% humidity. You can see poor Nico dripping wet by the end. I was at home in front of the fan dying in the Sydney summer heat thinking of the people and bands at this festival. I would be lying down in front of the barrier personally. So well done for the fans remaining standing.
@ yes, it was the humidity that was awful. I was there and whilst I stayed mid far from the stage and people were really relaxed there I was absolutely drenched in sweat I felt for EC, professionals as always but doing this highly energetic set with pyro and those costumes (bomber jacket and disco ball helmet for Ratatata!) in that weather..o m g.
This was an open air festival, 30C heat with 94% humidity. I was there and the crowd was very pumped and active - the set was 1hr long because that is what the festival schedule allowed
I've never heard of this band, but saw the Tank video and decided to look them up because so many people were singing Frank's praise. To be honest, I would have been *shocked* if he wasn't able to pull this off. I'm halfway through their set and not only doesn't every song sound pretty much the same, minus tempo changes, but they also sound like every song on Beat Saber
Mad respect to not only Frank, but the whole rest of the band and crew for being able to slide right into place and play such a ridiculously great show. Hope everybody is back to full health and back at it!
