Dude I've been waiting just as long for mine. But it was supposed to get here January from optics planet I believe.
But my wife found 20 of them at First light optics. And she ordered that one instead and it got here today. She just placed the order a week ago. So we cancelled our other order and the mount is amazing! I won't get first light for a few more days though, as the mount is still a couple days out.

Thank you so much Wido's AstroForum, I have been tearing my hair out over no connection and the Baud missmatch issue. Everything else worked but there's been no ASCOM to computer connection. I tried everything to no avail until I searched for tutorials and you put me right at 2:20
It was a close call for a minute there, I had a hammer at the ready for a perminent fix!

True the Eqmode cable is way better than the ST4 cable.
Tracking is more accurate and eventually much better images results.

Especially since EQASCOM allows one to navigate by any suitable planetarium software, for instance Cartes du Ciel or Stellarium. Really like that possibility

Thanks for this clear video - I also purchased the EQ6-R pro mount and got linked to NINA and changed com port but wouldn't work. Through your youtube video I saw that I had overlooked something, The Baud rate was set at 9600 had this changed to 115200 and now it works fine with the USB cable. 👍

I was trying out GS Server and could not get my mount to connect to GS Server until I saw your tip about changing the baud rate. GS Server now works fine. Perhaps I'll stick to eqMod since I know where to find troubleshooting issues. Thanks for the helpful video.

Thanks for all the helpful videos. Is there a way to connect your laptop inside your house with the mount outside your house without using a usb cable (ie some sort of Wi-Fi setup)?
I have the EQ6Pro without the USB cable port on the mount like yours BUT, that same port for USB-A to USB-B IS on my Synscan controller. I'm guessing this is the correct place to connect the cable? My mount and controller were purchased in April 2019 - Appreciate any advice.
First thank you for taking the time to make a video about connecting the mount to the computer but WELL you gave no overview of all the software you just presented, sections, menus, parameters. you went from window to window with no detail explanation so we dont freak out 😂 Remember that many of your followers are students or apprentices or yours. keep it up! love your videos!

Does this work with celestron evolution goto mount to asiair pro?
Don't forget: you need to install the ASCOM Platform before EQMOD

Thanks. Do you just need the USB A to B cable. I thought you also needed a shoestring adapter or a shoestring EQ direct cable. Perhaps that was for older mounts
Hi Hugh, see my other response. I only use the USB cable, nothing else. Previous mounts did need an additional adapter, you're right, but the EQ6R-Pro doesn't.
Fantastic video , i was doing the steps as you were explaining ,so i could understand them and all worked fine , as a foot note , do you have any videos on troubleshooting with the zwo cameras , i seem to have trouble getting it to work ,the computer wont recognize the camera , thank you again ,im subscribed
Hi Nelson, Thanks! I don't have a video on zwo cameras. I guess you downloaded the regular drivers from the zwo website? If yes, maybe try another usb cable? You can also check your device manager in Windows (is you're using a laptop). Check if the cameras are visible in that menu.

Hi Edwin, thanks! Are you referring to the HEQ5 pro? This one? bit.ly/3aeKWap To the best of my knowledge, this HEQ5 pro can be connected via the synscan handcontroller using an RS232 to USB cable. I had a similar solution for my Celestron AVX mount, have some videos on that on my channel and it should also work with SkyWatcher mounts.
AstroForum cool, yes that is the mount and the reason I like it is because its $500 less than EQ6-R and I can use it towards a dedicated astro camera, I saw your vid. on AVX so basically you connect using hand controller vs directly to mount. From my scope to computer I’m using the cables are used for printing
And from guide camera the cables are use for Samsung phones .

So how do you star align for goto visual use with EQmod if you don’t have your EQ6-R Pro handset plugged in for 2 or 3 star alignment, and what about initializing your EQ6-R Pro every time you turn the mount on if you never want to use your hand controller .. is it possible to initialize an EQ6-R Pro with just EQmod and no hand controller? yes, you can use eqmod with the eq6-r pro without a hand controller, that's what I do. I'm using platesolving in sequence generator pro and also stellarium to position my mount. I have other videos on my channel that explain how to connect your scope to these software programs. Clear skies!

Interesting. What astrogear do you use? I have windows 10. For some of the older software, you could try to set the compatibility mode to windows 7.
Same issue here, Windows 10 sucks. I know they need more money every year, but win 10 is worse than win 7. I tried everything and the pc port with ascom does not see the port no matter which port I use, and yes I have the correct port number. Bummer !!!!
if you do not want to use the hand controller, can you use a FTDI go right to hand controller port? and do all same software?
Not sure what you mean. You can run a USB cable directly from the mount to your PC/Laptop and use ASCOM and EQMOD to control the mount.
Great vid! I'm having a bit of a hard time, though...when I download the eqmod from sourceforge and look at the file in the start menu, I don't see a whole list of files, I only see the controller and Uninstaller. I'm totally stuck there...

@@AstroForumSpace not quite yet. Gs Server does talk to my mount, but thinks home is 90°W which throws goto in APT 90° off, and Stellarium won't work with it at all...but holding out to figure out why EQMOD won't work. Thanks for the reply!
Would you say this is more accurate than the hand controller/2-step alignment? This HC set up just inexplicably stopped being accurate. Ive now wasted two imaging nights in a row...did EQMOD solve this problem for others? I'm for sure adding PlateSolve2 with AP Tool...

Hi, again ,so i finally got my camera working but there seems to be a problem , i was out tonight trying to image but all the exposure kept coming back blank at first i thought it was the gain so i lowered it but nothing happened , i was using the asiair app , no computer , but i was watching this video , and i was wondering can you make a video or do you have a video going to the process ,connecting the cables and where everything goes ,thank you , you can tell im a total rookie , could it be out of focus? anyways thank you again
Hi. Nelson, your camera was probably out of focus. It may help to focus on a bright star or the moon. Good luck!
I use a skywatcher Eq 8 and the sequence generator pro. I got the eqmod cable (PegasusAstro EQDir USB stick for Skywatcher mounts with RJ45) so that I can control the objects with platesove2 .. now I have downloaded all updates and installed them. but none works. Can you help me please? what steps I have to take

I'm having a terrible time getting mine to work, it communicates but the goto is all wrong, even though it polar aligns and plate solves..

I’m desperate for help. I have a eq6 pro, is it same setup for it? But I have usb/serial cable going through Synscan handset, so do I also need Synscan drivers?
You can use direct accom on the mount. You don't need to connect the controller
@@AstroForumSpace well,update. I’m not having any luck. The eq6 pro had a burned motherboard so took it back to seller. I then bought a brand new eq6-r pro mount and it had problems with buzzing sound so that has been sent back to skywatcher for a replacement coming soon hopefully
Do you need Eqmod to control the EQ6R-PRO within APT?
I'm not using APT, but it is the way to go as it connects your EQ6R Pro to an ASCOM standard - that is generally used to connect your gear to various astrophotography software tools.
Once you are connected, how do you do an alignment or is that not necessary as long as you are Polar Aligned?
Lately, I'm just making sure that I'm polar aligned within 1 arc minute using sharpcap and skip the star alignment. Clear skies!

Hey, just got a SW eq5 pro where i connection usb to handcontroller, but it works fine at 9600b, Strange, but which protocol dose you use to guide in phd2?
This is the eq6r pro, not a 5. I used to control it with eqmod and sgpro. Lately, I've also used ab asiair. There are many different options.
@@AstroForumSpace Thx, yes i know, but iam sure the firmware is the same that control the Mount ofc not the gear ratio, but the rest is proberly very same, the only thing i wonder is which protokol to ise in phd2 in ordre to use pulse in-sted of st4 🙂

No, that's not necessary anymore. You can connect to the usb output on the mount. Cheers!

Hey, i have a HEQ5 v.5, and i have a usb B in my SynScan controler, but is didn't work connect with this usb B to A any advice for it?

If you use the controller, you don't use the eqmod driver. You'll need to use the synscan driver.

@@visandaniel175 Not sure- I would make sure you have the correct tool to flash the controller and see in your windows device manager if the hand controller shows up as a device.
I never connected a skywatcher mount via the handcontroller. I had some trouble connecting my celestron mount via the handcontroller. In the end it turned out to be a bad cable. @Dennis is right about the driver, you'll need the synscan driver.
@@AstroForumSpace @dennis ruzeski I am currently attempting to do the same thing, connect my EQ5 to my computer via the USB B to A cable that connects from the Synscan Controller to the laptop, just as you have done in the video (expect directly on the EQ6) All I would need to get this going is the synscan driver instead of EQmod correct? So the software I would want to be using is the ASCOM diver and Synscan Driver to have my eq5 mount connect to my laptop via the synscan controller?

Beste ik heb een vraagje ik weet niet van welk merk het filterwiel is maar wat mij is opgevallen is dat uw camera niet rechtstreeks hierop is aangesloten het zal wel geen afbreuk doen op de kwaliteit van de opnamen maar in geval dit een filterwiel zou zijn van ZWO wordt er toch aangeraden om de camera rechtstreeks op het filterwiel te monteren en begrijp me niet verkeerd dit is niet negatief bedoeld; en eigenlijk heb ik ook nieuws te melden heb ook een ZWO 1600 mono pro aangekocht en stort ik mij in een nieuw avontuur dus het kan zijn dat ik ook al eens raad van U vraag.
Bedankt voor de tip! Ik gebruik het extra verloopstuk omdat ik dan de camera in de rotatie stand kan draaien dit ik het mooist vind voor het object. Als ik direct de camera vastschroef dan moet ik het filterwiel draaien (kan ook) maar dan komt het soms gevaarlijk dicht bij mijn driepoot als ik iets hoog in het Zenith fotografeer. Verder zit nu mijn field flattener met het verloopstuk op precies de goede afstand. Maar ik hoor graag hoe het beter kan hoor en ik verneem graag jouw avonturen met de zwo1600. Groeten! Wido.

Hi, I have EQ35M-PRO and no matter what I do, I cannot make this working. I have connection through Hand controller with USB A-B cable. I got error messages either port not found whne I use binocular button, or if I set it manually to port 3, which I can see in device manager, it says Connection timeut. I tried it with my mini PC (Intel NUC) and also with my laptop. Same results. Tried also different USB ports. Any idea what could bea problem?

@@AstroForumSpace Hi, if you mean firmware, then yes, I did. A year ago, I had successful connection but then I abandonded astro stuff due to lack of time, and now after return to it, update of firmware was the firts thing I did. I don't remember exactly how I did it last year, but I had the same equipment, including the cable. But I think the method was slightly different. A year ago it was Win7, now it is Win10...so maybe something related to windows...
Update - finally I got it working. But I hadto set Baud rate in Ascom toolbox to 9600. In device manager it works with both 9600 and 115000 and I think also with other rates. But in Ascom it needsto be 9600. I will test it more and see.
Where is the driver link for this mount as I don't see it

This can't be done with wifi?
Nope, but there are many devices like the asiair plus that can control your mount over WiFi.
I have always used 9600 Baud rate same as 100 other people I know. 115200 does not work for me.
