A real question what do you think how much money would i earn if I start being a pro in England in my first two years.
I have little to no amateur background with 3 fights (3 wins)
27 years old born and raised in Germany (half African) so probably no fans rooting or coming to see me in England.
I really want to come over to the UK to start a career since i need a good gym and a lot of different Sparring partners to get the experience in.
Let's say I'm a talented boxer without experience how much can i expect and how to find the right Promoter?

    • @justsomerandomguy9547
      @justsomerandomguy9547 2 ปีที่แล้ว

B A A guy i know got paid around 20€ in his first few fights, he was a foreigner in france but locally was a good amateur with around 120 fights, no international acomplishments though.
But it should get better as you go up in the rankings, but there's a huge risk you'd be used as a sacrificial lamb for some prospects.
Best thing you could is atleast win the nationals, there you'd atleast get some experience and maybe get reconized by some promoter, or even better get the chance to get into international fights and maybe become the next great thing.
      Best of luck.

Just stumbled across your channel, great stuff Tony.
    Here's my old-fashioned view:
I've never illegally streamed a fight in my life. I moan about having to pay, but I pay for 24-hour fight passes, I subscribe to DAZN, I'll pay for every pay-per-view fight in the UK and some from abroad. I love my boxing.
I want every penny I pay to go to the fighters (even though I know it doesn't.) And when I met someone at my work who told me he did exactly the same thing, that he never illegally streamed fights, I knew the man was a solid upstanding citizen. And I've been proved right ever since.
But the best bit of this video is your story about investing in property. You look great, you look happy and you have looked after your finances.
    Great stuff.

*It should be noted that, I remember, you also had a good amateur (Olympic) career?* Hence, if you went professional from Day 1 - and didn’t have an Olympic career, then I don’t think you would get close to $12,000 for a first fight unless you’ve got some social following and can bring tickets (e.g. a TH-camr or “celebrity” etc).
*Boxers and MMA fighters should be getting paid more as a sport!* NOT only by the companies and promoters, but in general as a sport. Basketball, etc get paid so much more. Plus, fighters pay for their own recovery etc, whereas sports teams usually have free physio etc for their players.

That's really interesting, thanks. Seems you can earn what amounts to a decent professional wage BUT of course you have to work very hard, be very talented and lucky to reach the top AND even then an injury or losing your way mentally can end it all very quickly. And going into it you know you're only going to have a short career to earn in.

Although it's not a huge amount of money compared to the millions made by some boxers, you did alright out of it from a cash in-cash out net gain perspective, but the key point is obviously how you wisely spent / invested that money. Well done. Some guys who earn 100x what you made end up with nothing after 10+ years of boxing because they choose to spend their cash on cars, jewellery, partying, women, gambling etc etc. From down here in Australia, I can say that unless you're a world champion boxer or an ex-rugby league player-turned boxer (i.e. Paul Gallen or Sonny Bill Williams) , you're not making much money at all. Good on you Tony, keep posting great content.

You deserved a lot more. Sucks that you never got the full signing on bonus. Is it normal for a trainer to ask for 10% of sponsorship money? I get 10% of the fight purse but a training asking for 10% of sponsorship money sounds unfair.
Really interesting video though, Tony. It's a good salary for a normal job but not so good when you consider you're putting your life at risk, racking up injuries, putting yourself through the stress of fighting in front of thousands of people.

I agre Tony, you definitely got paid too little, nevertheless you earned very decent money (I know fighters with similar backgrounds in other countries that got paid far less) and you were cleaver to invest it wisely... now look at you, combining passion, experience and entrepreneurial spirit…I admire you mate, thanks for the enthusiasm and the good content you provide to the boxing community, cheers and keep it up 🥊

I'm from a small island in the middle of nowhere where we have our own boxing commission who sanctions fights under our country's laws but there are currently no active promoters licensed. Wanna know of you have ever considered getting into the promotion business. Perhaps you could do a video on the promotion business and what it was like interacting with them as a fighter. Were there lawyers involved etc. great channel bro

Clearly for the amount of work and danger is involved I’d say it might be not as much as people wish for - but it’s definitely much better than what you can earn in many other countries (even in Europe), the amount you said was very surprising to me (expected it much lower)

Glad you invested wisely and unlike most boxers didn't end up skint being an Olympic medalist meant you earned decent money where most pros without great amateur careers earn peanuts .boxing is a very precarious sport earnings wise only a tiny percentage make decent money. That Jeffrey's got out with his faculty's and some good investments is quite rare but good luck to him.

I was curious about purses and extras. Thanks for sharing.
I think you got paid too little. The effort to not only get in that kind of shape, let alone honing your skill set must have to be factored in. Also the sad fact that anything can happen inside a ring must be considered. Glad you used the cash wisely!
