Finally someone actually adressing pedaling. I don't know why it's something so confidential among all the teachers on TH-cam. It's like everyone just ignores it for some reason. Thank you.
I remember hearing about over-pedaling in college. I recently had one of my students stop using the pedal altogether just to hear how much of a difference it makes. And I've also begun to use practically no pedal unless it's necessary like you said. thanks Shaun!
Good point.. definitely got to put a ‘damper’ on the over pedaling 😂 I once heard Emmet say the pedal can take you from the Vanguard to the Mall if you’re not careful lol 🎹🎶😊
Yep both need work from me, but particularly the pedal, on an electric piano it sounds just about ok, but on my “real” upright it’s a dogs dinner! I’ve been running through tunes not allowing myself to pedal as an exercise to see where it’s really needed!
Thank you, I love your videos. I am on the other side of the world so I cannot see how I can join you for lessons. One thing I would appreciate is what is the recording method that shows the different shades for where you are using the pedal. Thanks again.

You're very welcome!

Thank you and I wish you the best with your playing.
Wow! This was nothing but the truth! 💯
Thanks MRQ. I find that these simple but crucial issues don't get much conversation.

That's good Paul. Use it for what your fingers can't accomplish alone.
