Hope to see Alys Rivers in HotD, and her potential relationship with Aemond, whether it be romantic or to perhaps teach Aemond some magic or something. Also, the fate of her and her child, whether it was Aemond's or Daemon's or some non-Targaryen man entirely
Their relationship was definitely romantic. There's no maybe about it. They certainly didn't have sex, marry and have a child platonically LOL nor do I think Aemond was platonic about her when he called her "my Alys".
The post Dance widows are so interesting! It reminds me of a book I read about powerful women of the 16th century that made the point that widowhood was really the time of a woman’s power. It’s certainly very true here. Also Johanna Lannister ridding into battle kinda reminded me of Kathrine of Aragon at the battle of Flodden! ❤❤❤
Depends on how the woman's life was when she was married Even in Westeros, it wasn't until Queen Alyssane made a law that a Widow would still receive the same accommodations/possessions they had when still married, so the heir couldn't abuse the situation or leave the widowed person adrift. So depending on the Monarchy system, some Queen's had great power even when their husband the King was still around. And yeah if he died then sure she'd have his spot for a time, but only if their heir wasn't of age. If he was then..
it's always been a bit of a stretch for me that one, however we don't nearly know enough about Alys or the kid to make any conclusions. I don't hate the idea in all honesty
I have said it many times, this channel is absolutely awesome. These character deep dive videos are absolutely amazing. You have a real skill at writing these and a perfect voice for narration. Well done as always.
Really appreciate it. i owe a lot to GRRM , fire and blood give such a great grounding to work from and without it making videos with the level of detail would not be possible.
I like the politically savvy women in the story. They're not Hollywood "strong female" characters. They know how to use their advantages like charm and the fact that the men were killed. Alys may not have been a witch, maybe she knew exactly how to seduce Aemond and how to mess with people by using her tricks and sexuality
You know that's one thing I love about George R. R. Martin's world! He has such a variety of female characters., from the badass warrior queens like Visenya and Nymeria to more conventional Ladies that still hold an important place on the game board like Alysanne and Sansa and everyone in between.
@@happycake2234 Exactly, even in a patriarchal society like Westeros, the women still hold power by playing the game with different kind of strength. "Poison is a woman's weapon" etc.
Well, that's one interpretation. The information in very scant and we don't know how their relationship started, And there is no evidence of her using her sexuality to mess with people.
What a very unique video end to quick can’t wait to hear the ending of this tale or if it was this leave questions if she telling the the truth about aemond son.
If I'm remembering correctly Fire and Blood ends at roughly this point. We don't know how this situation resolves yet. We will find out when Fire and Blood pt2 comes out
Right now George has left it on a but of a cliff hanger which will most likely get resolved in fire and blood part 2. I do think we will get part 2 a lot sooner than people think given all the spin offs, but we hopefully will get winds first
Wouldn't it be amazing if Carice van Houten, who played Melissandre in GOT to reprised her role as Alys Rivers the witch. She would have been 220 years old at the time of HOTD. She would manipulate Aemond like she did Stannis to further her fire god agenda. (She does love those young boys).
So the Stark children and robin arryn has targaryen blood (through House Whent) because their mothers Cat and Lysa Arryn are half Whent though their mother?
@@MajorBluesZ It's just a fan theory. But it could be true, who knows. I think it's true, personally. Fire & Blood gives such definitive ends to so many characters, yet for some reason when it comes to the question of what happened to Aemond's son by Alys it gets weirdly opaque and vague.
I'll be pissed if Rhaenys gets eaten instead of torched to death. Sara Hess already pissed me off with Ep 6 and 9 making Daemon and Rhaenys look worse. I guess if Rhaenys gets eaten, it makes Corlys' betrayal towards the Blacks more justifiable. Rhaenys is already a mass murderer and refused to torch Alicent's family which means she could've prevented her own self from death. So Vaemond doesn't get fed to Syrax and they'll save that for Rhaenys and Rhaenyra getting fed to dragons? F that!! I'm still waiting for that announcement for all the new actors being cast for Season 2. It's almost like Street Fighter II to me. By Champion Edition, we could play the bosses. By Super Street Fighter II, we got Cammy, Fei Long, Deejay, and T. Hawk. Give us our new characters!! Cregan Stark Daeron Targaryen Nettles Sara Snow Alys Rivers Jeyne Arryn Roderick Dustin & the Winter Wolves The Shepherd Cregan Stark is the big one. He's like Akuma in Super SFII Turbo. If I was the King, Kingsguard, Small council etc I’d be very worried about Alys rivers and the dragon.Since it is known that she was Aemond’s lover, and he was stationed at Harrenhal for a good amount of time, combined with the fact that dragons were still alive at the time of her reappearance, plus the fact that Harrenhal seemed to be crowded with armed men, suggests that yes Aemond’s son was indeed the child of Alys’s that was seen, since I highly doubt Aemond never had sex before he died with her plus moon tea is a choice which Alys and Aemond did not want.Dragon eggs were quite plentiful then, and were hatching even after the dance. So I don’t think it’s too much to say that a dragon had hatched in the child’s cradle, which had grown faster then normal due to strong magic present in Harrenhal and Alys’s magic at work plus not being poisoned by maesters or restrained in dragonpit. The men were flocking because he was Aemond’s son which would invalidate Aegon 3 as king since Aemond was Aegon 2’s heir if all his children died and he never actually agreed to have Aegon 3 as his heir, and because he had a dragon, which already had caused some to champion Rhaena as ruler instead of Aegon 3. Also since they had a godswood at Harrenhal, Alys was a follower of the old gods it seems, and Aemond was not a devout Seven follower, it could very well be he married her in the godswood, which would make it legally binding and it wouldn’t take much work to make a septon or someone officiate it. A trueborn male dragon riding/owning targaryen, son of prince Aemond rider of Vhagar and probably having Dark Sister retrieved from the Gods Eye, would definitely be enough to attract scores of men, a serious threat.
It's going to get a bit tricky once a get to the end of the regency as then i'll be using The World and Ice and Fire for most the info and it has a lot less detail that fire and blood. But even when i do get to the start of GoT i have a plan of how to carry on.
We should find out a lot more about her in fire and blood part 2 if we ever get it, i have a feeling she is going to be a bit of a throne in the side of Aegons rule for a bit.
Must really be a terrible time when women need to take the place of their lord hubands. Can't imagine donning mail and impressing themselves on others is thier idea of a good time.
I hope aemonds kid remarry into the Targaryen family to. Save the greens bloodline it's been a long time since I read fire and blood but hopefully we find out what happened to her in fire And blood part 2
