In one of the documentaries they talked about how hard it was to put together a tour because almost no one had range and vocal ability enough to cover Freddie. Then they saw Adam on American Idol and it became possible.

I attended this concert in 2019 and saw them in 2023 live as well. Both Brian and Roger say how fortunate they are to have Adam Lambert…..that absolutely no one else could do justice to Queen’s music…….and he has the vocal range to sing all of it. Their live performances are absolutely outstanding and they are able to perform live some of the last songs they recorded with Freddie that had never before been performed live. An outstanding show!

I've had the privilege of seeing Queen + Adam Lambert four times over the years. They are awesome. They put out an album awhile ago of their concert performances that is monumentally excellent. I miss Freddie so much and I am grateful that these fellows found each other and brought us the music again.

I saw Queen + Adam Lambert last year over in USA, im from UK, their show is just phenomenal and yes I am old enough that I started listening to Queen in 1974 with the infamous Freddie Mercury and Adam was a fan of his, he is not trying to copy him he does his own thing but it keeps Queen's music alive and out to younger ears ❤❤

2:55 - There will *_NEVER_* be another Brian May and his infamous guitar!! Brian will be 77 on 19July2024; Roger Taylor will be 75 on 26July2024. Adam of course is the puppy of the group, at age 42 -- he said he wanted to emulate Freddie, and not *_be_* Freddie. Adam knew that was an impossible dream.

This guy really surprised me the first time i saw him performing live with queen. I instantly fell in love with the way he performs these songs in his own way and style. Not trying to immitate but just beeing himself.

Awesome! Without a doubt, Adam fits Queen (alongside everything else he takes up) like a glove! I love that Roger Taylor and Dr. Sir Brian May are still as sharp and phenomenal as ever and that they absolutely adore him. Sometimes they even call him their brother, you can't beat that! Their chemistry, camaraderie and dynamic are so strong and natural, you can taste it! I saw them in person last November and they were a divine, astronomical, out of body experience! In case you haven't seen it yet, the documentary "The show must go on: the queen Adam Lambert story" is highly recommended. I love that It's mind-boggling that Adam can hit these insane high, long notes and Dr. Sir Brian and Roger (seasoned legends) have these priceless looks on their faces of such pride and surprise amazement thinking things like "what did he just do?"

  • @ellenw391
    @ellenw391 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

I have many thoughts. Yes, I saw them live in Boston in October. One of the best concerts I have seen in my life, and I've seen many. By FAR the highest production value. My only regret was not going to both shows, although it likely would have killed me (my first major event after a very major surgery that left me with mobility issues....I was in bed for a couple weeks, but I danced & sang though most of it). I adored Freddie. Actually had him blaring in the car all day today. But Adam is amazing in his own right. And the talent in that band has always been silly. Both Sir Dr. Bri & Roger could have later did front their own bands and perform as singles. But the magic of them combined is unequaled IMHO. That fact that got that lightening in the bottle twice was, as both those guys have said (when talking about Adam) "a gift from G-d."
Now, I did the same double take when I saw The Red Special. I don't believe that is the original. The woodwork is more distinctive & the color off. BUT it is well known (and Brian's guitar tech did a video on them) that he had several dupes. He has to, in case there is a string break or malfunction. He most often, to this day, plays the one he and his Dad made. But I don't think that was it. And he could play anything and it would be amazing!!!! The bass player is now Neil Fairclough. He first worked with Brian, and then joined Queen. There's a great interview w/him in a bakery telling how it all came to be. He and the percussionist who rounds out that section, Tyler Warren, both not only have great vocals too, but blend fabulously with the others. And we can't leave out the keyboard player and band leader Spike Edney. Poor guy has been with Queen since Freddie, and still doesn't get a spotlight LOLOL BTW in the fall Rhapsody tour Neil did get the light on him & in some towns do a solo on bass!! Sadly not the night I saw them, but something blew up top of stage (I jumped a foot, most folks didn't notice lol), the show was a bit delayed, and it was cut. I hope & pray the guys stay well & touring & I would kill to see them again!

I was there that night. Spur of the moment decision THAT DAY to get tickets (crappy seats, but still was there). Everyone was of course leery of Adam....but he won the crowd over pretty quickly. I'm so glad I went, and got to see a 4th of my top 5 guitarists live...Brian May. Stevie Ray Vaughn, Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton checked....only missing David Gilmour....I have to fix this! Roger Taylor, Brian, and Adam did a great performance! Was also fun having the Dallas Cheerleaders come out!

I love this video reaction! You noticed the chemistry between Queen and Adam Lambert this is true! We had the opportunity to see them in concert last November in Los Angeles, just to see Brian May and Roger Taylor do their best. My husband and I went in blind so to speak, we had no further knowledge of him, only that he was in that American Idol show. That's it! We never watched the show when he was in it, so we didn't know much about him. We were surprised and pleased at the same time when it came to Adam's performance with Queen. When he sings, he has range, and a genuine rapport with the audience, very good stage presence too. He does not try to be like Freddie at all, Adam adds his own flair to the concert, in fact he verbally pays homage to Freddie when he speaks to the audience, and they appreciate him for that! Adam did surprise us, he is amazing! Peace! ☮

Did anyone else catch what Adam Lambert says after he sings the line that goes something like this: ‘Ain’t no beauty queens in this locality’? He takes a look at the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders who are closest to him and says “well, actually…..”. I think Adam might like what he was seeing which is crazy when you consider he is gay. I don’t know, maybe he might play for both teams or something. Anyway, I thought it was a very funny line to throw in there.
I think Adam got to sing with Queen the first time on the finale night of American Idol 15 years ago in 2009. I guess both liked the chemistry. Seems like he also got to sing with KISS that night also. I don’t know if the finale artists get to request whom they would like to sing with if they make the finale or if the Idol producers invite bands that they think the finale artists would likely love to sing with if they made the finale.

Buncha stuff to explain first. 1980's "mockumentary" movie called "This Is Spinal Tap" about a made up aging British rock group on an American tour. But the musicians in the movie are played by actors who are both very very funny and very very talented musicians in their own right. Their songs in the movie are kind of stupid on the surface, but insanely clever. ---whew---- All that said, check out Spinal Tap's song Big Bottoms. The clip from the movie is the best version.

I'm not sure if that's Brian's original guitar. He travels with it and does play it, but not as often as he used to in order to preserve it. He does have the BMG guitar line that was based on his "Red Special" he and his dad made. Neil Farrant is the bass player and Tyler Warren plays percussion. Spike Edney plays the keys and has been with Queen since 1984. All 3 of them sing backing vocals as well which further enhance Queen's vocals. They sound fantastic together and are so amazing live.

Love me some Adam, and some Brian and Roger (and I have seen them live). I didn't like the decision to bring the Cheerleaders out. I grew up in rock and roll (my brother was a lead guitar player and at one point his band had a woman as lead singer) and the song was originally written to show the misogyny in rock n roll including the business part of it, the performance part of it and the fan part of ("groupies" as most of us were called). This song spoke to us all, supporting women who were not "traditionally' beautiful" as portrayed through the male gaze. Having the Cheerleaders come out to embody it, so to speak, upends that concept. Just wrong. Gorgeously performed, but not what it was meant to be. You might look for a version of this song that doesn't include them.

PS in case that wasn't long enough. React to what you want, but if you enjoy them, you should at least watch the version of "Is this The World We Created" with Adam & Bri on the 2023 Rhapsody tour. Beyond the brilliant song & vocals, the last tree on earth is on the screen and REAL leaves are falling on the stage. Beyond magical, amazing, and sadly poignant for these times. After I replay this, I think I'll go watch that.

He has a couple of replicas that he had made and he uses them now and then when they're playing outdoors in inclement weather, but he prefers the original and uses it about 90% of the time. Under Pressure, Radio Gaga, Hammer to Fall, I Want It All and more. Honestly, loved it every time. In 2017 I had what would have been a ringside seat for the Sharks, and was the far right stage. As someone who spent my entire life worshipping Freddie, I don't believe I have any bias against 'those' people, but there's something about Adam Lambert which just disturbs me on a subconscious level. Maybe it feels like he's posing / deliberately dialing it up to 11 as opposed to Freddie, who just was what he was?
Either way, Lambert has a great voice and he killed it as a touring singer. I never went to see any of the replacement lineups - either Lambert or Paul Rogers - but I'm happy that they managed to keep spreading the love for so many more years. Just a pity that they couldn't persuade John Deacon back into that world, but you have to respect his decision.

Never needed cheerleaders when Freddie was on stage! Queen never needed anything but the incomparable Freddie and the combined talents of Brian, Roger and John to put on a show, and their shows were undeniably iconic.

@@Canucklehead557 Perhaps Kathy might mean that of his 4 albums of original music he has released, he has co-written songs on each of them.
      1. For Your Entertainment Tour Edition (Debut Album) - co-wrote 6 of 18 songs
      2. Trespassing Deluxe Version - co-wrote 14 of the 17 songs.
      3. The Original High Deluxe Version - co-wrote 8 of the 14 songs
      4. Velvet - co-wrote all 13 songs.
He has also co-written 3 other songs of his - 1 released as a single, and 2 songs recently released from his upcoming EP.
The other song that I know he also co-wrote is Lay me Down by Avicii
These are the ones that I know about.

I don't expect you will read all of my reply, it's just a feeling I have.
Yes he does - his voice (or where you not aware that the Human Voice is considered an instrument) in terms of what you mean - as far as I'm aware, no he doesn't, at least not on stage, he did take piano lessons as a child, either way it does not matter - you are aware are you not that not all vocalists play an instrument (the type that you mean). Adam is certainly not the first and won't be the last.
Yes they have performed some of Adam's music at Q+AL shows in the past, but I'm assuming you mean original songs with Brian & Roger - do you not think that Brian & Roger have some say in that? As per Brian, they have been in the studio with Adam. I would be shocked, however, if anything is released, as, in my opinion, Brian & Roger are very wary about releasing original music with Adam after the failure of the Album of original music released with Paul Rogers.
"All I've ever seen him do is be applauded for doing karaoke" - I'm not even going to address this statement because you have clearly demonstrated that you know nothing about him. I get the feeling that you thought that between tours with Brian & Roger he did nothing but sit around waiting for their next tour.
He does have hits, his biggest solo hit to date was one of his songs that he co-wrote of his third album. If that is his last and biggest hit, so what. Are you aware of how many recording artists are out there who have NEVER had a hit, or even had a top ten charting song or album for that matter?
Billboard 200 chart data Peak Position - For Your Entertainment - No 3, Trespassing - No 1 (first openly gay artist to debut at No 1 on the Billboard 200), The Original High - No 3 , Velvet - No 89 (on the Billboard top album sales chart The Original High - No 2, and Velvet - No 8).
Classics? Anthems? - he has been in the business for a mere 15 years, history will determine that, but again how many thousands of recording artists have there been that have not had/do not have "classics" or "Anthems" Is that honestly the way you decide whether you are going to listen to an artists music or not - how may hits/classics or anthems they have?
There is an element of luck with anybody who has achieved any measure of success with their art/talent. There are millions of people out there who never gain any form of recognition or get any traction with their art/talent.
As for your last word - you are disgusting. Someones weight, as far as I'm concerned, whether they be an ordinary person or a Public Figure, is no-ones business but theirs and their health professionals, wherever they sit weight wise. You have no idea what variables are contributing to their weight, medical or otherwise.

An half decent Karaoke singer, at best. Nothing special, let alone exceptional. Yes, he hits a few 80/90’s guns and roses shrieks, I’ll give him that. George Michael had an amazing voice and did brilliantly when fronting Queen but Freddie did it better and this guy isn’t even close to George Michael, let alone Freddie. Freddie couldn’t do George Michael, either but they both would have done a better job than this guy.
