    8:55 do you ever worry that media samples are honey barrels?

    I got my hands on a pga edition and it is delicious. Had some of my neighbors try it out and they loved it as well. Great video

    I was really impressed with AOverholt. Also you are the only TH-cam guy to pronounce it correctly. Appreciate the review

    Perfect timing. My bottle of EC SB is almost gone. And the idea of a darker more chocolatey EC sounds appealing. So I'll be looking for some of that EC PGA.

    Thanks for the notes - I have the A Overholt, and I would agree it's a great offering with a lot of complexity. Will keep an eye out out for the PGA one to give it a shot.

    Love your vids and palette. I align closely with your pallet. Just got your Dark Art pick. Can't wait to try.

    Nice review! I found an OO 10yr at a local store for 130.00 still thinking about it. That same store has an Elijah Craig small batch pick that’s 37.00 from the upper floors and it drinks at about 105 and it’s loaded with flavor. Needless to say I bought 4 bottles! Cheers!

    Good info on the Elijah PGA. Actually saw it this morning but wondered why I would pay $7-8 more than the reg small batch that sat next to it on the shelf for what looked like nothing more than a marketing trap.
    Did you ever do last years Elijah Toasted Ryder cup European oak variant? That at $100 was also a pass when it was available as Im not a fan of the standard Toasted EC.

      Yeah I don’t blame you for passing, but a nice surprise that it’s actually differentiated in a positive way. I didn’t try last year’s cause I’m not crazy about toasted stuff, and the markup on secondary seemed extreme.

    Jim Beam has been killing the Rye game recently. Absolutely cannot wait for OO11 Cask Strength. With how good OO10 was I'm sure it'll be killer

    Good lineup!! Agree on the high and wicked cask strength. I think the age is too young for the proof maybe. It's very tight and ethanol forward. Love the lower proof though as well as the Overholt rye!!

    The PGA EC is pulled from rickhouses P, 1G and A. So it will be slightly off profile. But yes really good.

    The Total Wine near me has discounted the High & Wicked from $79 down to $52. Think I'm going to roll the dice on it now.

    Randomly found the 4 year 114 pf old overholt as an Ohio OHLQ pick for $19. Crazy good value. Interested to try that A Overholt now.

    When you talked about leather on the High and Wicked... and the age... and it's sweet mash...
    Really makes me think it's Peerless distillate bro.

    • @DrumsAndDrams
      @DrumsAndDrams  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can’t imagine Peerless is distilling for others or selling barrels, but Wilderness Trail is also sweet mash and seems like volume-wise it might make more sense.

      @@DrumsAndDrams Maybe. I’m not really sure. Could be Castle and Key too. A lot of people were saying that with Frank august.

      I can’t verify, but heard this was New Riff sourced?

    Heard a podcast with Brandon the director barrel projects at High n Wicked.
    Bourbon has up to 7yr dist
    And chooses his blends to be 60% fruit forward.

    Yeah Total Wines are discounting the High 'N' Wicked bottles near me -- both the rye and the bourbon. The cask strength is, indeed, packed with flavor.
    The rye was listed as New Riff sourced, the bourbon isn't listed, but rumored to be Wilderness Trail.

    • @DrumsAndDrams
      @DrumsAndDrams  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting. I did see on the ryes that they were NR sourced, but I assumed since the bourbons didn’t say that they wouldn’t be the same. Sweet mash on the cask strength bourbon narrows it down, but then the lower proof (same mash) doesn’t say sweet mash. Maybe just an oversight on the label lol. Either way, WT seems the most likely, in which case I need to drink more WT lol

    • @eafarrar
      @eafarrar 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DrumsAndDrams It was a while ago, so don't quote me, but I think the original press release also included the type of still that was used on top of it being a sweet mash which all but confirmed WiTr. Also they somehow consistently put out 4-5 year old product that tastes markedly older, so it tracks.
