    Hello everyone,
I see you are soldering each solar cell, to the next one, using 3 (three) independed nickel strips from the one (negative) tab of the cell A to the positive tab of the opposite cell B. I would like to ask what would happen if instead of using the independed stripes, someone will use the provided dogbone which interconnects all three tabs of the one cell as it has a vertical stripe in the middle. What are the advantages and disadvantages of using each approach? Thank you.

Doesn't the dogbone help to dissipate the heat better? 5.5amp going through the connections might overheat them and cause damage to cell? I'm just guessing. I did the same thing like yours, but now im wondering if using dogbone was better idea, even though i went through lots of trouble trying to even connect one cell to a dogbone. Not enough space between short circuit connections.

There are so many things wrong with this video. Firstly, laying out the cells and eye-balling the spacing. Secondly, Not using proper "dogbone" wires. Thirdly, the worst soldering iron one could possibly choose, way to much wattage, not properly grounded or temperature controlled. Fourthly, where is the solder? Heating up the tinning is unacceptable. This is amateur hour! Anyone watching this should not use this as a "how to" reference.

Grzeorz Hallo. Prečo spajaš segmenty iba zozadu? Niekto spaja predu aj zozdu. Akože plus zhora vpredu a minus zospodu alebo vuadu.

Hello, great video. ji see that you handle cells with care. Are those cells flexible, are they c60 model?
I want to use them to make a portable 120 W panel. just like small 20w from anger just bigger.

You need to make some changes. Check Avasva Solutions if you want to make it right.

I wanted to use solder on the tabs as I tried the pen but couldn't get it to work, however the solder wants to attach in big clumps on the small terminal patches. Is it possible to put too much solder on and short out the negative and positive? Are you able to post a new vid/picture showing a detailed or zoomed in description detailing the fine cuicuits running around the terminals? Thanks

Three questions. Why did you space the cells so far apart in both directions, why not just minimize the gap? Why didn't you just use Busbar Dogbone Tabbing Strips ($8 for 50 shipped) and why are you using the wrong type of soldering iron? Proper dogbones and a smaller iron would greatly help reduce solder breaks and prevent cell overheating damage.

+Radiation Network Hello. The reason is that glass and frames where from different project so i used materials i have had in hand, glass is bigger so i space the cells out and could not use fish bone strips because of this.
But what happen the panels are not overheating - silicone is a superior heat conductor so power i am getting in full sun in not any smaller than in usual panel configuration (overheating panels) so overall it was a good move. In addition lower temperatures means that panel will work longer (live spam).
      Regards
      Greg

    Thx for the video :)
I see there is special tabbing wire for the Sunpower cells, named "Dogbone" but it's very expensive(more than the solar cell), do you think it can do a difference with the normal tabbing wire ?

    Hi,
Thanks for posting your videos. I have learned a lot by watching them.
14:05 into the video you wrote that you connected the cells in serial to achieve a voltage over 18V. I wonder what is special about 18V?
    BR,
    Dino

+Dino Juricic Well, im guessing the panel will output 18v open circuit and about 14v under load.. wich is perfect for charging 12v batteries

sir i want to make solar panel without frame i want mount on my car can u please help me and what are the materials do i require to buy??? actually i want to make low weight solar panel like flexible solar panel i want to produce around 120watts

ohh i see now , they make a dogbone connector too for them, much more pricey than the 90pcs of 6x6 i just bought for $125, i like how many less you need though

most cells you buy are polarity different front to back not side to side, what ones are those?

Toward the end of the video, when you placed that metal weight across the ends of the electrodes to hold them down, you essentially shorted the solar panel :) The cells were facing up. Well, you weren't outside so no sparks or burnt bus bar ends!

Do you think dogbones bussbar are better than usual tabbing wires?

    • @grzegorzmucha8005
      @grzegorzmucha8005  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hello. Yes i think so, fish bone wires allow for thermal expansion without breaking the connection. I could not use it because i use bigger glass than i should, those were left overs from other project so i space out the cells, but i gain much better cooling because silicone is superior heat conductor so i reduced overheating and expansion problem. And in addition light is transmitted from between the cells due to semi crystal silicone structure (like a lens).
