- John Mellencamp performs "Minutes to Memories" live at the Farm Aid concert in Mansfield, Massachusetts on September 20, 2008. Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers. Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's board of directors in 2001.

What a great album this song came from I never understood why this the best song hands down from that album never got the airplay it deserves one of my favorite songs ever

Me too Dave. When it first came out it the lyrics hit me upside the head like a 2x4. Like John said in this video, now that Im older too, it has even more meaning.
John has a way with his songs. Stories to mean a lot.

I love his "'old"'voice ,im old ! Lol ! Roger Daltrey and John have been my constant's since i was a kid ,they can sing nursery rhymes and it hits me !

Umm ... where are all the cool guitar parts? Different key than original, too. Guess this is what he wrote, then they spruced it up.
Either that or it was just stripped down to be played alone here?
