What an interesting RC vehicle! I don't know why there are not more vehicles of this type available. It is a pity that there aren't some further upgrade parts available.
That is the main downside of this model I suppose. The only upgrades available at launch were the oil-filled shocks and metal driveshafts. Whether more optional parts will be developed in the future I don't know. I hope so as this vehicle is unique and looks fantastic.
@veeravitRc I have been driving the SG-1205 on different types of terrain and made a short video. If you are interested, you can check it out at BlackSeaRC now.
The detailing on this model is first class. I really like the way they did the interior as well with space for a figure. The on/off button on the console is also a nice touch.
Thanks, it caught my attention because of the excellent scale realism. There are a lot of Chinese brands nowadays trying to establish themselves with higher grade products. I reckon if the suspension could be improved, this would be a nice vehicle.
Thank you very much, I'm glad you liked it. I'm currently putting together another video featuring this vehicle to show it in action on dusty tracks by the river. You should be able to see it in the next week or so.
Awesome review! Subbed! I may need to add one to the collection. Not many alternatives for this type of vehicle. Amber is quite scale, where did you get her? I'd love to see tear down and upgrade videos on this!
Thanks for watching the video and welcome to BlackSeaRC. I always try to include a good range of information in my reviews and like to cover interesting scale-realistic RC vehicles of all types. I also made this video of the SG-1205 in action if you haven't seen it: th-cam.com/video/XgohH1R5Dsc/w-d-xo.html This video used a different driver figure. She is also very realistic and the perfect size for this vehicle. You can see all the different action figures I have in this playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLNbtVgLA4Mp7l_KsVsQrwB8l0crpNUUVW.html Because the SG-1205 is fully licensed, it is very accurately scaled. Unusually, the interior also has good space for a driver and passenger. Sometimes the footwell area is not reproduced in full depth on RC vehicles but this one is realistic. I typically buy my action figures from AliExpress as there is a good choice at competitive prices there. With regard to this type of vehicle, as you say there is very limited choice and that is one of the main reasons why I bought it. I guess it is semi hobby grade because although it uses reasonable electronics, there is only a limited selection of spares and upgrade parts currently available. It feels and drives better than a toy grade product but won't match the performance of something like the Losi RZR Rey (although, the Losi product obviously costs substantially more so that is not unexpected).
@@BlackSeaRC Wow! Thank you so much for your extensive response! 🙏 And thank you for your comprehensive content here on TH-cam! I've seen your other video on the sg-1205. What price range are we talking about on the Aliexpress action figures? 20usd? And what should I search for? (all I seem to find are toyish action figures for kids, bigger than 1/10th scale...) Yeah, the Losi is awesome but way over my budget, so this one is all I could get... 😅
@@just.jose.youtube I bought my SG-1205 when it was still on pre-order and I noticed that after I got it, the price jumped up quite a bit which is a pity. Usually, AliExpress gives the cheapest price for me. If I am selecting a seller on there, I won't use one with a rating less than 90%. Finding a decent action figure can be quite a challenge. It is quite amusing to see a plastic wrestler or superhero with visible joints in a 500 USD crawler. I prefer scale realism and real fabric clothes if possible. You are going to need something 1:12 scale which is okay as it is a common size (6 inch / 15 cm). The better it articulates, the more likely it will be to fit. You would be surprised how hard it is sometimes to fit a figure in the seat of scale vehicles. Are you looking for a male or female figure? Prices can vary quite a bit depending on the level of realism. I think you might need to spend more than 20 USD as even the big brand high volume figures can cost more than that. The figures I use tend to be directed towards serious collectors. They are produced in much smaller numbers and will therefore cost a bit more. Brands to look out for are Phicen/TBLeague, Verycool, JoyToy, LimToys, DamToys, etc. I don't usually search within AliExpress itself as their search facility is not very good. I use Google and add AliExpress in the search to give references that you can go straight to. Search for 1:12 or 1/12 against the brands above as a starter. But beware, there are still a lot of soldier/fantasy figure characters as that is what sells best. If you want an average man/woman figure, you will have to search a bit more!

@@Fortes_RC_Adv Thanks for leaving your comment and especially for supporting my channel. I purchased this when it was on pre-order and already the prices are starting to come down. A lot depends upon your exact location with regard to the price. For me, there are lots of toy grade machines with far inferior performance, poor scale realism and bad build quality for a similar price. I suppose it depends upon your priorities. I loved the look of this vehicle and that was my main reason for buying it. However, the performance also turned out to be quite reasonable considering the cost.
@@Fortes_RC_Adv By the way, I initially ordered this from Banggood. I asked before I ordered whether they would ship it in a proper shipping box. They said it would be but when it arrived it was just in a plastic bag and the display packaging was totally destroyed. I rejected the product and got a full refund. I cannot recommend to buy from a company who thinks it is acceptable to ship an RC car to an international address in a plastic bag that offers no protection. There is a very high chance of product damage. There are other buying options such as AliExpress so if you are interested in buying, I suggest you contact the company to ask about the method of shipping beforehand.
I would ask if the diffs are greased? It sounded noisy. Over all a full on video of a great little toy, i'll have to look at adding this to my list of RCs to buy.
You make some good points. Often, adequate greasing is overlooked on RTR vehicles, even those products costing substantially more. This product doesn't come with any exploded diagrams so it is not immediately obvious what screws to remove to check the differentials. It is not the noisiest product I have though. Often, they quieten down after the initial running-in period. I did look at obtaining the optional metal oil-damped shock absorbers but there is something unusual about their design. Usually, the chamber is at the top but on the upgraded shocks, it is at the bottom. I will look to see if there is any way to modify the existing parts or perhaps find an aftermarket option with the correct dimensions.

The electronics are not officially waterproof. However, I did drive my SG-1205 through water and it has not caused any problems so far. The ESC is located under the bonnet so it is quite well protected from splashes but the battery compartment is low down so can easily get water in there. Therefore, use in water with caution. Do not drive in deep water and submerge the electronics. Beach driving should be great fun but is one of the worst environments for RC vehicles due to the salt. Most of the components are plastic but be sure to dry it and clean it as soon as possible to prevent corrosion of the metal bearings and fixings.
@dannyc50 I have been driving the SG-1205 on some dusty tracks to see how it would perform in these conditions. If you would like to see it in action, it would be great to see you again at BlackSeaRC.
I tried two different figures, the TBLeague one shown and also the Verycool Villa figure. Both are 1:12 scale 6 inch / 15 cm high figures. Because the seat is low in this vehicle, the knees have to bend and the thighs have to rise up in relation to the waist joint. If the legs of your figure only articulate to an angle of 90 degrees to the body, then it might not fit. Also, if there are any hard plastic accessories on the figure that affect the figure sitting it might be more difficult. I found it more convenient to bend the figure to the approximate sitting position and insert it through from the passenger side. The knees need to be spread apart rather than pushed together. The TBLeague figure has great articulation and soft touch body so works perfectly for this application. She fits in and out very easily. The Villa figure was slightly stiffer at the waist joint so sat up slightly from the seat base. If you think the figure looks low in the vehicle, this is normal if you see real people driving. The roof is much higher than the head position in these vehicles.
It is not especially powerful and fast so I expect it to last quite a while. It seems robust enough so far. This is a fully licensed 1:12 scale hard body with great realism and detailing. What Axial product would you suggest that you can buy for around 50 GBP (
