After watching 2 of your videos I've got to say that Your Work is positively impressive.I've been making holsters and magazine pouches for a while and I know what it takes tobe good. In fact I'm pretty good because I'm always learning and you will be high on the list of teachers. Thanks for the great videos of tasteful leather work. Thanks for sharing your great talent.
You can also use a kydex press to shape the leather thats what I do to save all the work also molds with good detailed results but I know everyone has there own ways . Great work !!
WOW! Brilliant! A piece of art! I realize that your video was posted many years ago, but would you be able to reproduce this and perhaps make a custom pouch for me?
John great video and you are a craftsman for sure. Totally enjoyed this video and I'm in the process of making a similar pouch for a friend of mine. I am going to use a vacuum system to mold mine as my hand's can't handle the pressure of pushing on the leather that much. Wish me luck....
Beautiful pouch, very relaxing calm video that's been a pleasure to watch. I'm in the middle of doing something similar but I haven't used a wooden frame, (tut ! ) I need to take some very minor creases out from the bottom edges, do I need to re wet all the leather to do that or would it be ok to just wet the bottom part, I'd like to keep the leather quite light in colour and was worried it might look water marked when it's dried out if I only do the bottom bit, I hope you can give me some advice. Thankyou so much for sharing your inspirational video. 😊🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
If I was you I would wet all the leather you can get stains in the leather from just water so wet it all and you should be ok, thanks for the comment, atb John.
Beautiful. The music though....lol. I'm trying to learn and was wondering what the different solutions you were putting on it. Such as on the inside after you dyed it. Otherwise I'm assuming just water to shape/soften, dye and mink oil. Is the other solution to stiffen it inside?
The inside is coated with " Fiebings Tan-Kote " I use this a lot on the back of the leather, to shape the leather just water for the finishing I start with Neatsfoot oil very good for dry leather too then I use Effax Leder-Balsam for my leather work that's used outside then finally polish it Carnauba Creme, hope this helps, stay safe, atb John.
