The winter is when you should be useing them the most . Have a good steal shod sled then you could use them for hauling wood & maple sap . .

They look like highland cattle. Are they highland cattle.
What country do you live in, state or region?

You really need to enslave these awesome animals today? Very pitiful sight. People back then did it because there was no other power available. Today just unnecessary and injuring caprice..

You've never met a working dog, or a working horse, have you?
If you don't harm the animal, a lot of them actually ENJOY working.

Putting animals to work is tollerable, if there is no better way to do the job or if it doesn't go against their nature and they obviously enjoy it. (Like dogs protecting and herding sheep, searching for various stuff, horses getting logs from places inaccessible for machines - that's animal labour that is welcome or at least tollerable.
But this massive wooden yoke, that's the finest example and paragon of enslavement. You have simply broken their oxen spirit, already when they were very young and made them into pulling zombies. In no animal's nature is pulling. Too dull and monotonous.

@@ruznaupozornenihave you ever seen the joy in an ox when he really can put a use to his strength? You cannot give him big enough stems and piles of dirt or hay to work on all the time. They really DO enjoy working. That of course excludes abusing them with going over their strength and against their character. So if a steer shows you, that he doesn’t like that kind of work, you do not continue putting your own time and sweat into it by nature.

Thank you for your concern for our animals. These oxen have a very good life. Considering their fate if we didn't take them I would say this is close to heaven on earth for any cow. They roam freely in a very large pasture and get all kinds of treats. They are actually pets. When they get yoked up (which isn't very often) they get very excited. Oxen love to pull and actually it's an action of pushing with their foreheads, the way a yoke works, which is something they naturally do when they spar with another animal. They are never given a load that is too heavy and they usually drag their feet when they have to head home after working. They truly love to work and are showered with lots if love.
