Before watching the show, I can see ZZH as WKX because their personality is similar, playful, fun, socialable. Now that I have watched him playing Ah Xu, I don't know. I think the cast director has made the right decision. Honestly, had ZZH played the part of WKX, they may have to find a prettier actor to play Ah Xu. I wanna know why he didn't get the part WKX though.
Scriptwriter did psychological profiles for each character and told director to look for actor that has angular face for Ah Xu and softer face for WKX. If you notice, ZZH has a jawline and his face is more angular whereas Gong Jun's face shape is smoother/softer.

The role of Zhou Zishu was supposed to go to Mao Ziju but because production delay due to Covid and lower pay, he chose a different project. Wen Kexing was supposed to go to Li Daikun but he thought it didn't suit him and gave it up. He now plays Prince Xie (Scorpion King).
Gosh the production team lucked out to have ZZH and GJ as the leads. Can't think of anyone else can be ZZS and WXK...I do like Mao Ziju but I think he could be a WKX, but not ZZS. Ironically he has a new BL series just released and doesn't registered with the audience. I think it's bad timing. People are focusing on SHL, nobody cares about other BL show now. They should have waited until SHL is finished. I will check out that show after SHL is done.
I like their dramas separately. Not sure yet about them together. But I like Simon Gong with Allen Fang in Uniquely Lady. Word of Honor is in my Chinese Drama Queue To watch. I am still giggling after watching LOVE UNEXPECTED. :D I'm not a fan of zombie theme since pandemic. LOL
Highly recommended. Probably one of the best costume dramas / C-Dramas in general from the past year. Great chemistry and fight choreography. Music is great too.
I miss them together i hope they're still friends caring each other.. i pray always for zzh that he can comeback to the limelight but if he doesn't i just wish him to have a normal life with full of love and peaceful surrounding.
