@@jenniferk6632 you too. By the way 2 weeks ago London hosted the Great River Race, for the 35th time, where 300 rowing boats competed from Canary Wharf to Richmond. Notting Hill good choice. Bit pricey, but near to many of the sights and has many locals living there. Pop into the V&A (fashion) or Natural History museum if you have time. Both are free. Very walkable, car not needed.

You were wrong about your pictures not doing justice to your trip, they were absolutely wonderful! I’m so glad to see you went to the Jewel Tower, it’s a jewel in itself and although I watch a lot of tourist videos of London I don’t think I’ve ever seen it featured before. I must admit that I’m often sceptical about watching short trips to London because so much is crammed in and I feel the atmosphere is lost but not this time! Your enthusiasm was wonderful to experience. I was born and bred in London and worked in different parts for many years and still love visiting, which I do often. Looking forward to seeing more from you.
Oh, this is such a beautiful feedback to my video, thank you so much Ron, it really warms my heart that you enjoyed it... Well, since I suffer from a fatigue condition after a burnout 4 years ago, I always have to make sure not to cramp too much into a day in order to be able to enjoy it... Actually, I thought that most people would not like my London video because of that so it is a delightful surprise to me that they and you do... Thank you so much for writing me and have lovely day ❤️
That was lovely Jennifer.😊 your video gave some beautiful juxtapositions of buildings and views, and your delight really showed in your smile. Thank you for taking us along with you.

Aww, thank you for telling me. I still can feel this feeling in my tummy that I had standing inbetween these monuments of history... I will go and stay 2 nights in Notting Hill this Saturday... cannot wait 😀 Thank you for coming along and lots of greetings to far away Australia ❤️
Oh Thank you... well, I just mispronounced the name of Leigh-on-Sea in my latest video a couple of times, but as long as you can understand me and are not upset with me, I am happy. Love the English language as much as your country ❤️ Have a beautiful day
Jennifer is a wonderful example of how having even a little understanding of history brings such emotion when you visit historical places. It is a physical connection to those long-dead souls we have 'met' through the books we have read. Without that knowledge of the people of the past, a visit to a place like London would be little more than 'Oh, another old building - yawn'. This video shows the power of history in education in bringing joy and nourishment to our lives. (It also helps that Jennifer is such a kind and thankful person :-)
Oh, you could see me blush now if I pointed the camera towards me while reading your comment... Thank you ❤️ And indeed... knowing of the souls that ones were at a historic place makes it even more magical...
Nice video and I love your enthusiasm. I think everyone should try and visit London once in their lives. In my opinion it is the most interesting city in the world.
As an ex British soldier who spent 7 wonderful years posted in a variety of garrison towns throughout NW Germany and the holidays I took from those town to the likes of the Moselle valley, Bodensee, Schwarzwald. I was based briefly in Munster and will one day go back, and later as a tourist with my wife to the likes of Meissen, Goerlitz, Dresden, Potsdam, Spreewald and a return to a now united Berlin where I was based for 2 years bevor die Mauer niedergerissen wurde - and with more trips to come. I grew to like the Germans and their attitude toward work and play. It makes me smile to see you enjoy our capital as much as I enjoyed your country through the '60's and 70's - now go and take a look at the rest of the country, I suspect there will be a great many surprises in store for you. Wilkomen!
What a wonderful comment you have written to me... Thank you ❤️ I always enjoy it to get some information of the lifes of my subscribers and it makes me happy to hear that Germany is liked as well. I have seen a little of England's south and am eager to go on a long roadtrip next summer, working my way all the way up to the north. Have a beautiful day ❤️
@@jenniferk6632 If you visit Clydesdale Road in Notting Hill you will notice only one of the original buildings is still standing, number 6 where Tom Jone's lived when he first came to London on his route to stardom (& where I lived a little later). Why they left that one and knocked down the others I don't know. On the other side of the road is a remembrance garden where there use to be houses, they were flattened during the war by either V1 or V2 rockets, I didn't know that when I lived there only finding out later when researching the area and asking why there were no houses in this otherwise crowded area.

We Londoners love to welcome lovely visitors such as yourself Jenny. May I recommend that you might book a visit to explore the inside of the Palace of Westminster ( the Houses of Parliament ) sometime. Westminster hall has the worlds oldest hammerbeam roof which is nearly one thousand years old and is magnificent, also the House of Commons and lords, an unforgettable experience even if it is expensive. Loved your video I have never visited the jewel tower.

So glad you enjoyed your visit Jennifer. Next time in the City I would really recommend seeing a play at Shakespeare’s Globe if you can. I took an old friend of mine who has been teaching about Shakespeare’s plays for over 60 years, and she came out saying - she had finally understood.
Oh wow... what an experience this must be... yes, hopefully if I get to do a housesit next spring I will take this opportunity... Thank you for sharing that. Lot's of love to you 😀
As a former schoolteacher in my younger days (also English literature and language) I feel reasonably qualified to suggest that your students surely treasure you. If not (which I doubt), they should!
I loved teaching and even now, 4 years after an unexpected burnout which lead me into early pension and travelling, I am still in touch with some and call them my friends ( They were adults learning to become preschool teachers and educators since I was teaching at a vocational school). Des Copeland, the musician whose music I have used for this video is one of them. Thank you for your lovely comment. May I ask in which country you have been teaching? England?
The 'safety' guy on the boat was very funny. If you get to the Tower of London the guides are the world famous Beefeaters who guard the Tower and Kings Crown Jewels, and live in the Tower itself and even have their own pub in true British style. They are even more hilarious when giving their tours, and were all former members of the British Armed Forces.
I messed up the names of Big Ben ( Elizabeth tower) and the parliament though... Thank you for not mentioning it 😀 I am happy you enjoyed it ❤️ Have a lovely evening and greetings from Germany
Really lucky to have seen the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben looking cleanest they've been since they were first built. The scaffolding was up a long time to get all the grime off. I remember when the stonework looked black from the accumulated grime of so many years.
If possible when visiting London please take a Black Cab if you need a taxi … instead of calling a Uber … Because Black Cab taxi drivers have to pass an exam called the Knowledge … this means that they know London city centre streets like the back of their hands … Uber drivers usually don’t have a clue about where they are going ….
Ahhh, good advice. Usually I am using public transport but in case I have to use a cab, I will remember this. Thanks a lot and have a wonderful weekend 😀

Welcome, Jennifer! Please come back, stay for a couple of weeks, and see some more of the UK - the cities of York, Bath, Winchester, Oxford; Warwick Castle; Portsmouth Dockyard (tour HMS Victory, Nelson's flagship); the Peak District; the Lake District; Edinburgh; the mountains of Snowdonia; the Highlands and Western Isles of Scotland (avoid the midge season!); Belfast and the Giants Causeway; the coasts of Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Yorkshire; Stratford-upon-Avon; Windsor Castle; I could go on. What a beautiful lady and a wonderful video, full of positivity and smiles, glad you enjoyed our capital, and you are welcome back any time,.
Wonderful, thank you so much... it always amazes me how the British people make me feel so welcome ❤️

@JohnBeck-u3w aww Thank you, John. It was lovely meeting you, yesterday. Thanks again for the hot chocolate and cuddles to Maggie ❤️
I'm 65 and have lived in London all my life. Today I found out more about the little Jewel Tower than ever. Thanks for that unlikely visit.
Oh wonderful. This makes me happy. Thank you for coming along and letting me know ❤️
Just seen this for the first time Jennifer - love it, I will no subscribe! Best wishes from West Sussex
@junecaffyn357 oh, wonderful 😀 I am happy you enjoyed it... Have a lovely day ❤️
I loved that boat tour guy, he has great patter! 😂❤
Indeed 😀 Thank you for coming along ❤️
Thank you for coming along and writing me, Tim. I am happy you enjoyed it. Have a good night ❤️

@@jenniferk6632you’re English and accent is excellent! Beautiful lady and Thank you for sharing your experience ❤
@gmdhargreaves aww, thanks, again ❤️
Oh, I agree... I know I only had a little glimpse, so I surely will come back in the future... Thank you for watching and writing to me ❤️
As an ex British soldier who spent 7 wonderful years posted in a variety of garrison towns throughout NW Germany and the holidays I took from those town to the likes of the Moselle valley, Bodensee, Schwarzwald.

Fab video Jenny. London is just a wonderful melting pot of history & culture. So pleased you managed to see a snapshot of what it has to offer. 😃
Yes and I will spend 2 nights in a hotel in Notting Hill before going to Winchester... so excited... Lots of love, Jason, see you next tuesday
@shamteal8614 oh, how interesting... I will safe this information for my next visit for, even though the video of Notting Hill comes out tomorrow, I have already travelled further and am now in Winchester. It always takes me a couple of days to edit the videos... But I make Screenshots of all the information my viewers are giving me so kindly, so that I have it ready for my next visit... you sure lived in a wonderful area... 😀
@@jenniferk6632 I've just finished watching the video from your visit to Southend, one up on me I've never been there. Be sure to see the Round Table in Winchester, a little walk up the hill and of course the Cathedral. It pays to have a guide to show you round the church, so much history.
I wanted to do the table so badly but didn't manage after a brilliant but (for me ) exhausting tour of Winchester College... it was amazing, as well as the cathedral... unfortunately it seems that I always have to leave something out... tomorrow, I will be off to Brighton. Do you happen to have any recommendation for it? I will stay 5 days and thus may find actually time to do it 🙂
What an absolutely lovely, lovely video xx. Such a great antidote to a visit to a monster city to go into the Jewel Tower to visit a small attraction. Great idea.

Oh wow... how amazing is that?? Thank you so much for telling me... Thank you also for watching. Have a beautiful evening ❤️

Really lucky to have seen the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben looking cleanest they've been since they were first built. The scaffolding was up a long time to get all the grime off. I remember when the stonework looked black from the accumulated grime of so many years.

The unusual geology of the UK means that there is huge variety of landscape, and that landscape has impacted on the culture and buildings of the locals.
What a beautiful and inspiring comment, thank you for that 😀 I am currently in Winchester and will head for Brighton, tomorrow. I am also planning to spend the whole next summer here in my microcamper going north all the way up to Scottland... and hopefully, I will manage to get a longer housesit in London next spring... Really looking forward to all of it. Much love to you and enjoy your evening ❤️
So much joy in your heart about the city I was born in.
I've lived away from London since I was 11 years old and come back 1 or 2 times per year.
I have been guilty of taking London almost for granted; but your fresh eye and enthusiasm has made me appreciate this great city even more.
Thank you very much :-)
Aww, wonderful that I could give you a fresh perspective... I cannot wait to explore your birthtown more ❤️ Have a lovely day, Dave 😀
