Kirby: Canvas Curse is one of many sequels in the Kirby franchise. In this installment, Kirby and the inhabitants of Dream Land are all turned into paint by the witch Drawcia, with Kirby being stuck as a limbless ball. Players must guide Kirby through various stages via the DS touchpad.
In this run, GloriousLiar ( tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/G... ) exploits quirks in the way the game handles said touchpad, allowing him to launch Kirby at ludicrous speeds to beat this game in the blink of an eye. - เกม
First you draw a circle, then you draw two lines, then Kirby completes the course.
add details please
+@@Manueljlin What do you mean "Add Details"? those are the details
@@cocolover1237 I don't remember, this comment was made one year ago and the OP comment was edited.
Details are in the link in the description. Basically, he exploited the way the game handles Kirby being on two lines at once. The rest of the TAS is finding new and inventive ways to abuse this power. There's some RNG manipulation, but most of it was spent on the final boss.
LOL
Alright, let's see what a TAS from Canvas Curse looks like.
*5 seconds later*
WTF?
I can't imagine the touchscreen's state if you were to play like that for real x)
It would probably just start to burn!
You would probally need a screen protector. Or maybe two. Or maybe even three. Or even better, you shouldn't torture your console like that.
RTA runner here. From what I've come to understand of the glitch, it doesn't require THAT much more relative to the inputs you already have to make to do this game glitchlessly. It's much more the precision required that's the problem
Veiyr What about the screen after a Pokemon Ranger TAS?
Hmm A TAS for Kirby Canvas Curse
*Teleport to the end of the stage*
Understandable, have a nice day
"But Drawcia didn't account for you getting the Magical Paintbrush, which allowed you to move with infinite speed and travel through walls."
There are no walls in this game. Only very viscous fluids.
that's usually how it works
usually, the wall is just solid, i mean
I mean, it IS paint, so in a way you're kinda right.
Viscious MS Paint.
Yes, no "Walls".
I've heard of speed painting before but this is ridiculous!
**Sitcom Laugh Track**
"Hm, a TAS. I suppose this will just be really simple shortcuts and glitches?
**zooms halfway across the stage in one dash**
*"YOU BE JESTIN'"*
"Alright, Kirby let's see if you can beat me in a mine cart ra--"
*gets absolutely DeDeDestroyed*
*"SURELY YOU JESTIN"*
I love it when a TAS player has to wait for something, because then they get bored, and then they start to show off which is cool because they can do literally anything.
It's really surprising to see that it's actually faster to reset the game after every level rather than just go to the next level
Like a lot of Kirby games, there's a minigame at the end of each stage (it's skipped if you fight a boss). Because this mini-game is relatively long, the menuing in KCC is fairly quick, and the fact that the game saves the fact that you cleared a stage before it loads up the minigame, it's faster to soft-reset than play the minigame.
+Veiyr Oh yeahhhhhhh forgot about that, haven't played this game for years, thanks for the reminder
1:39 poor Kracko Jr he was not prepared for this!
:-[
Wow, AGDQ wasn't lying. This is insane.
I love how you can see that even these hardened speed runners still put personality into their runs, like when he stunned the Waddle Dees to the beat at 9:40 or that bee thing at 18:12.
It's not a speedruner doing it though
@@august2.016 Yes there is. S/he is just playing frame by frame.
Needlous is its name.
7:19 And this is why I love watching autoscrollers in TAS xD
Mario: Backwards Long Jumping makes me the fastest character ever!
Kirby: Hold my Pep Brew
Leave it to a Kirby game to have an overly cute theme, only to end with an epic battle with some sort of horrifying monstrosity, accompanied by awesome music. XD
I think we all share the surprised look on Waddle Dee's face when we watch this TAS.
"Oh, cool, Canvas Curse, i´ve never try or see this game before, it´s a great oportunity to take a look about this game´s mechanics"
...
...
...nevermind...
I was living in slight acceptance until that Kracko Jr. fight. I don't want to watch this anymore.
You know what a [TAS] is right?
child abuse
3:06 Never thought I'd see rubberbanded lava...
Have you ever headbutted someone so hard that their soul shattered?
"Hey, Kirby, a terrible curse ha-"
*Kirby has completed the stage. Moving on in 3...*
"Oh, alright. I guess we're doing that now, are we?"
Oh god, I love this game x)
Something about that game's soundfont (and soundtrack, despite being like 99% remixes) just gets me everytime
☆go1☯ If you look for Ice Cream Island theme, you should find some
It's very 2005 but sometimes manages to be 2009-ish and it's impressive
7:15 one of my favorite things in TAS videos is when they just fuck around during auto scrolling sections like this
Ah yes my favorite game Kirby Canvas Clip
Kirby: Canvas “Cursed” with Awesome
This game was released 11 years ago... holy shit.
DawnofMeat 13 Years ago..
15 now
Yes, this is retro now...
22:14
D'Awwhh cute! You're helpin' her draw!
22:54
Okay now you're just tracing it...
23:17
Alright NOW we're back on track with the helpy thing.
...
26:56
"Nor did she anticipate you setting the _GODDAMM PAINTBRUSH ON FIRE WITH ALL THAT_ *_FURIOUS SQUIBBLING_*
rip the inputs for the credits minigame TAS

strap in folks
it's about to be a wild ride
I'm surprised how close the races with DDD are even in a TAS environment.
walls were meant to be tangible i guess
nah, they're just a suggestion
this has almost as few solid walls as DK64
Clem de la Clem Yes Like This!
Wall: *Exists*
Line: *I'm about to end this mans whole career*
Came here from AGDQ and I am not disappointed
I love the soundfont, and art style (specifically the BG and FG) of this game.
1:39 *how it feels to chew 5 gum*
1:40 That was technically a rape
this isn't a Speedrun, this is Proof that Ball Kirby is the Definition of Speed.
What is this madness? I thought it'd be interesting to see what a TAS could do with this kind of game, but I just assumed it'd be impossibly tiny lines or something. This speed boosting and wall clipping is crazy! Also, gotta love the return to the title screen being faster than the bonus game.
This has fewer walls than Skyrim.
Ah yes my favorite copy ability: Clip through reality and pretend collision was a figment of our imaginations.
Noclip Kirby
the fool thought they were limiting the power by turning him into a sphere
little did they know, they gave him power beyond mortal comprehension
I strongly suspect that the title screen transitions are just to hide the fact that Ball Kirby teleported to other games to speedrun them.
How to launch a kirby the game
entertaining to think that this entire game kirby is just being thrown around by a mystical force with no agency of their own
I feel like "YEET" is the only way to describe this
16:31 - While we're here, let's just appreciate the good ol remix of Butter Building while it plays
there was a lot of cool stuff, and there was some very funny showing off too
WHAAAAAAT?!??
*tas resets game*
ok this is gonna be so cool
Ah, dang. I guess this hyperspeed glitch means there's zero chance of ever seeing the game's powers in a TAS :(
But the autoscroll and enemy room bits are fun to watch. (I was just not quite as fond of "draw a squiggle then kirby warps to the door")
No hyperspeed glitch category. There.
I love how you can tell the Bot goes insane during the auto-scroll parts
It's a dude playing frame by frame.
Coming from AGDQ?
7:22
That synced up so well!
I can't stop playing it
Wow. Now that i think about it, "Kirby and the rainbow curse" is not that original after all.
I love this video so much. I wonder what happens if you build up speed for 12 hours.
You don't ever build up speed. All speed is given instantaneously.
@@gloriousliar8747
Then I wonder what happens if you're given 12 hours of speed instantly.
holy shit this tas
To this day the credits theme is still my go-to "It's over!" song.
21:29
They look so pissed
Now *this* is what I call speedpainting!
When I read 25 I was expecting 25 hours and was like "huh??"
Didn't tap the portraits in credits, oh well
7:16 Wut?
i like the gardevoir art at the beginning
Like the specific need to change the screens for Kirby dancing and other things.
hello everybody from agdq
sonic tas???
Please show this on next GDQ :D
Great!!
Why all the resets?
It’s faster than completing the hi-jump mini game after each level.
@@Zykrath Thanks, but doesn't the level progress only increment after clearing ?
i guess kirby might be sic after this
The walls are made out of not wall.
Call that noclip
just like how i first played it all those years ago ":)
(what the hell is happening)
esto si es un spedrun
Mmm... Si, es cierto.
