This whole album is a masterpiece. Pan is monstrous. You should take a look at his compatriots as well, guys like David Maxim Micic and Jakub Zytecki are mind blowing as well. Rock on
This one, Pan and Pastures are up there in my top ten list of favorite songs of all time. The solo in Pastures is otherworldly, and amazing to take a walk to. In fact, taking a walk with Plini in your ears is a trip.
Wombat Astronaut is my favorite from Plini, mega underrated and he almost never plays it live for some reason. The solos in Opening from Sweet Nothings EP are sick as well
He has such a unique voice on the instrument. Tons of players use almost his exact signal chain, but nobody comes even close to sounding like him. I saw Plini and Intervals on tour a few years ago, easily one of the best I've ever seen. He basically just swapped rhythm/lead with Aaron Marshall between sets, and I think they each brought their own bass player. Unbelievable talent. I put it slightly below the time I saw Al Di Meola, Stanley Clarke, and Jean-Luc Ponte together, only because Al read down an intricate 12 minute chart, complete with page turns.
Hearing you wax eloquent (or as you say "be long winded") about Plini really makes my day. I've loved his music for ages now and, though I was only ever an amateur drummer at best, what you're saying is basically what I was never able to put into words as to why I think I like his music and other music like it. Never be afraid you're being long-winded, your insight is why we're here after all ^_^
The record rules. Really love "Perfume." Relatively simple, straightforward song, but I just think it has a really cool feel. And man the production on this record is _immaculate_ .
i feel fortunate to have a pretty solid taste in all sorts of music and a deep appreciation for music... that said, there's something about this song that never gets old for me. it's surely in my top 10 songs of all time. the album too.
AHHHHHHH the sounds is so big even my IEM which has okay-ish soundstage make me amaze while listening to this song, the instrument are superrrrr great.
I'm still here! Geebz, considering your love for the bass on so many of the tracks you give a listen, I'm truly shocked that you didn't mention it here. I feel like Plini's music always has great bass, but this is the absolute pinnacle to my ear. It's just *_SO_* deep and rich and powerful. Simon is a true master of his craft as both a bassist and a mixer.
Wow, thanks for reaction, I very love Plini and that "happy atmosphere" in his songs almost make me cry, I hope you'll react on PAPER MOON by Plini, best his song imo
If you like Plini you should really check out Glass Ocean, another australian prog band. I discovered them both years and years ago when they released their first EPs and I've never stopped listening to them. VERY underrated and with beautiful sonority overall (no harsh vocals, some polyrythmic sections and much more...). I advise you to listen one of the tracks from the first EP like Light of the Moon if you wanna check them out. Keep up the amazing work! :)
As a young guy (25), and someone who has only heard music from the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's, as opposed to living through it (and the music scene at the time,) this sounds like something that Robin Trower or Steve Vai would play if they started their career now. This has very big Trower vibes for me, just melodic, and the guitar taking the forward front, and the technical skill with all of it involved holds a candle to any of the greats back then. Awesome, awesome stuff here, thanks man! It actually got me thinking when you first mentioned them, but for some reason hearing of an artist like this reminded me of an artist that I heard of a few years ago, called Amarante. I only listened to a few of their tracks, but their song _The Manic_ is one that I think about a lot. You should check it out sometime! Thanks for the vid, Geebz, and keep on rocking!
Plini is one of my fave new age of guitarist who play Dhent/prog/ fusion/ jazz style.. love his layering and build up of Sounscapes. He is just incredible. Another guitarist to check out is Andy James. (A mix of Petrucci abs Satriani. Just wow(. Thanks Geebz. Keep it up. Love the channel.
Geebz! I am still here! I have seen Plini live when I flew to see A perfect circle in a festival. One of the best experiences I had! BTW you should check out one of Plinis friends which is David Maxim Micic, another amazing guitarist
Don’t worry, we’ll still watch even if you’ve heard the songs. Maybe call them an “analysis” then. I watch music analysis to exercise my brain and reactions to exercise my heart. 🤙🏻
Plini is really a true modern Jeff Beck style player. He knows intuitively where to put things that both amaze and please the ears. Both Plini and Jeff Beck put in the time and use their creativity to show us amazing artistry.
Been listening to you for a hot minute now Geebz! Really enjoy your channel. Music has always been a HUGE part of my life. I truly like “MOST” music, lol. I played Bach and Vivaldi on the violin by ear by early middle school. The one thing that trips me up is the count... in a song like this, would you break down the count because it makes my brain glitch, lol. That would be awesome! Keep on keepin on! 🤙✌️💨
Still here. Scrolled through the comments and no mention of the bassist. I'll have to change that... Not only is Simon a crazy sick bassist, but he's also a phenomenal producer and mixer.
I don't understand people who jump past any part of a first-time listen reaction video. The jawing at the beginning of the video helps add context to the reaction. Nothing in music exists in a vacuum and knowing how the reactee is feeling is important
I'm heading to shoot (photograph) PLINI supporting NORTHLANE alongside SLEEP TOKEN in Sydney very soon... I'll also be editing the live concert film of NORTHLANE for Moshcam which is being shot in Melbourne next week. Keep an eye out for it in the coming months... I'd be stoked if you do a reaction 🤘🤘
I was just listening to this today, yeah buddy! I think he actually just put something out like within the week too, like I just saw it. I think every piece matters is my favorite plini track. Or flanuer. Or kind. Or pan. Hard to decide
Good stuff. Would love to see you react to Russian Circle or Strawberry Girls with are both really unique instrumental bands. My favorite instrumental band ever , Bolt, were around in the early 00s out of South Carolina. They aren't on Spotify but I could burn you a copy of their cd or stick it in a Google Drive link for you if you're interested. They have math rock vibes but aren't as extreme as say Fall of Troy.
The first time Plini raised my eyebrows was with Halcyon, the "Pastures" album, from 2011. I hope you've listened to it already, if not, it's a must! :)
Just saw him in LA- FAR surpassed my expectations - everything sounded better than the recordings. Also, the whole band’s joy of playing shines through.
You definitely should give Stephen Taranto a try, his masterpiece "Quantum Leap" in particular. The intricacy, virtuosity and beauty of this track are just insane.
Still here. Glad to see you still digging into prog gems! Plini is incredible live, too. Hope to catch him/them on their next tour back through the states.
Thanks for doing these! And please check out Owane and Jack Gardiner. Absolute incredible fusion of nuclear proportions. 🤘🏻🙌🏼 appreciate you and stay long winded!!! 🖤
Still here!! Go long, it's your channel, haha! If you react to Pan by Plini, I recommend the studio version and not the visual playthrough. It's superior in my opinion. Anyone else agree?
im still here but i want you to check out Pan from Plini... the glass bead game.. oh man, so many songs... impulse voices... please, i never asked you before and never lied this way too...
ah yes! heard some songs from him and he really has his own thing going for sure! he must be inspired by Joe Satriani somewhere in there! great sound! crazy technique! good vid! still here! aaawright!
I'm still here! The whole album is amazing, my favorite release of 2020. Every song is perfect in its own way. Fantastic work by all musicians, and as a drummer I love how much of a factor Chris (the drummer) plays in the overall sound.
I've been calling him Plini as well. Didn't realize it was in fact Plini, not Plini.
How did you not know it was Plini and not Plini?!?! It’s clearly spelled Plini!! *loud angry noises
This actually makes sense. Plini, not Plini.
@@kingbassk83 Still not right. Listen to me say it.....Plini. You're saying Plini.
Actually it’s Plini, so
@@JimVincent insert Brooklyn 99 "I feel like I'm saying it" back and forth. "Nikolaj."
This whole album is a masterpiece. Pan is monstrous.
You should take a look at his compatriots as well, guys like David Maxim Micic and Jakub Zytecki are mind blowing as well.
Rock on
Sunflower (Jakub) is so sick…
Exactly! Let's keep pushing for more Jakub Zytecki, David Maxim Micic and (Jack &) Owane :)
+1 for both of these. David Maxim Micic - Who Bit the Moon would be an amazing song for a reaction
And sithu aye, hey hey hey
Evan Brewer
This album is so well mixed and produced it’s incredible
simon grove slowly spreading his greatness everywhere and i'm all for it
This one, Pan and Pastures are up there in my top ten list of favorite songs of all time. The solo in Pastures is otherworldly, and amazing to take a walk to. In fact, taking a walk with Plini in your ears is a trip.
I was glad he brought back that song from the halcyon days
PAPER MOON
Pastures solo is GOATed
Oh man I was on that Pan track for weeks. Blew my mind

Plintervals was a treat that I hope we get again one day.
Pan is singlehandedly the best track on that album. Absolutely phenomenal. 11/10.
Perfume is also good
Hearing you wax eloquent (or as you say "be long winded") about Plini really makes my day.
I've loved his music for ages now and, though I was only ever an amateur drummer at best, what you're saying is basically what I was never able to put into words as to why I think I like his music and other music like it.
Never be afraid you're being long-winded, your insight is why we're here after all ^_^
Helix Nebula reeeaally deserves some space here
Still here! Love every second of musicians talking about Plini
I love Plini! Thanks for decomposing!
I love Plini
Still here!
Love this song. Just a masterpiece with the melodic and rhythmic intricacies. Thanks as always!
Okay I've never noticed the Stan Getz vibe on Plini 🤯
The record rules. Really love "Perfume." Relatively simple, straightforward song, but I just think it has a really cool feel.
And man the production on this record is _immaculate_ .
Love his stuff.
Yes! More Plini, he's great, one of our best musicians down under.
I'm still here! I love Plini, probably my favorite instrumental music.
Plini is my favorite artist, love this song and love this reaction!! Keep it up my friend
i feel fortunate to have a pretty solid taste in all sorts of music and a deep appreciation for music... that said, there's something about this song that never gets old for me. it's surely in my top 10 songs of all time. the album too.
I've heard you talk about your audience opening you up to new stuff that you really love... well this one did that for me. Thanks Geebz!
I just found this guy a month ago and wasn't disappointed at all!
AHHHHHHH the sounds is so big even my IEM which has okay-ish soundstage make me amaze while listening to this song, the instrument are superrrrr great.
Still here bloke. Great song and reaction! ❤️
I have the numbered vinyl boxset for his first 3 EPs, and get this, I got 420/1000 😂🤘🏻
That's got to worth twice it's face value. I'm sure you'll never sell it though, or swap it for a pound of ****** 😁
Thank you Geebz
One month later……. I’m still here! 😊
Love your work Geebz 😎🤙🏾
I'm still here....always to the end!
I've been seeing the name PLINI lately and was thinking I needed to look into him, so your timing with this video is perfect!
Please react to Color Wheel by Arch Echo!!
As a long time Plini fan, I discovered these guys and fell in love instantly
Saw him live backing Caligula’s Horse (more C-Horse PLEASE!), and the whole band was so tight, just amazing to watch, incredible musicians!
I would actually love to watch you interview Plini
Plini's songs always give me goosebumps.
Thank you!!! You're the best dude!
I'm still here!
Geebz, considering your love for the bass on so many of the tracks you give a listen, I'm truly shocked that you didn't mention it here. There's a brazillian musician that brings me that ambience feel, you should check out
NiAn - Anchora
Plini took Fusion to a whole new level
Still here, love the content as always!
This song is so good. Favorite part is that section that starts about halfway through.
Sup sup Geebz. Oh man this is so 😎
Howzit Adam!!
Wow, thanks for reaction, I very love Plini and that "happy atmosphere" in his songs almost make me cry, I hope you'll react on PAPER MOON by Plini, best his song imo
Paper Moon is mighty fine, but for me nothing beats Selenium Forest live with Troy Wright lighting off an absolute monster drum solo to finish up.
If you like Plini you should really check out Glass Ocean, another australian prog band.
I discovered them both years and years ago when they released their first EPs and I've never stopped listening to them. VERY underrated and with beautiful sonority overall (no harsh vocals, some polyrythmic sections and much more...).

If you like Plini….. Intervals - Epiphany
Literally wearing my Plini shirt today! 🤘🏻 Cascade is still my personal favorite song from them
As a young guy (25), and someone who has only heard music from the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's, as opposed to living through it (and the music scene at the time,) this sounds like something that Robin Trower or Steve Vai would play if they started their career now.

My worlds keep colliding.
Paper Moon is his best song! Also you should listen to Leonessa by Arch Echo. Fantastic composition

Saw Plini with Animals as Leaders and Intervals and it was hands down the best show i've been to. It's just as good live
The thing about this music is, it incorporates elements of the Windham Hill new age music with modern heavy djent music. An interesting blend.
i would never skip anything in your videos!
Plini's melodic choices are just perfection. No current guitarist/composer hits me in the feels as hard as he does.
Don’t worry, we’ll still watch even if you’ve heard the songs. Maybe call them an “analysis” then. I watch music analysis to exercise my brain and reactions to exercise my heart. 🤙🏻

The one thing that trips me up is the count... in a song like this, would you break down the count because it makes my brain glitch, lol.

I'm still here. Plini is the greatest guitar composer of this generation. Fight me if you think otherwise.
I'm still here! :)
I was just listening to this today, yeah buddy! I think he actually just put something out like within the week too, like I just saw it. I think every piece matters is my favorite plini track. Or flanuer. Or kind. Or pan. Hard to decide
This song brings up bitter/sweet feelings. Absolutely love it, but found it when I was at a really dark time in life.
I know a Nate Johnson!
@@xXRyRyXx7 Haha, that's awesome! :D I actually know another one besides me as well. Small, private school, and he was one grade under me.
Glad you made it big dawg.
I've always said that Plini is like this generations Joe Satriani.
Good stuff. Would love to see you react to Russian Circle or Strawberry Girls with are both really unique instrumental bands. Russian circles is a great band. Love their stuff
Spanish Bay ftw
I bought a Strandberg because of Plini. Hasn’t made me play like him though!
The first time Plini raised my eyebrows was with Halcyon, the "Pastures" album, from 2011. I hope you've listened to it already, if not, it's a must! :)

Please do Archspire - Involuntary Doppelganger!!!
Love this reaction though, Plini is amazing!
It’s got a Satriani vibe to it. 👍 I’ll bet Plini got his inspiration from him.

Hah! You mentioned Plini in a Polyphia video and I've been mispronouncing his name the same way as you ever since.
Did you say he played percussion or guitar? And what genre would you classify this in, Rock, Jazz fusion?
im still here but i want you to check out Pan from Plini... the glass bead game.. oh man, so many songs... impulse voices... please, i never asked you before and never lied this way too...
I always spelled him Plee-nee, but know I know better, thank you - music is sensational good!
The Dead South - In Hell I'll Be In Good Company
Pan deserves a reaction
Anyone else think the left side of geebz hat looks like the Ibanez logo? Lol
Still here. Plini's contact info should be on his TH-cam channel, I should think.
ah yes! heard some songs from him and he really has his own thing going for sure! he must be inspired by Joe Satriani somewhere in there! great sound! crazy technique! good vid! still here! aaawright!
Def hearing Satriani influence.
You should checkout the song "sega sunset" and also "negative jumpsuit" by the arist lorn.
A rare shaven Geeb appears!
I'd like to request Owane & Jack Gardner - "Swedish Coffee"
Wow sounds like a mellow KXM song. Ala George lynch. Don’t know why you haven’t listened to that band yet Geebes.
You might like listening to Modern Day Babylon 🤔😎👍🏻
