I’m currently reading Jennette’s book because like her, I grew up with an abusive/narcissistic mother and when I heard the title I was like “omg I NEED TO READ THIS” and although I’m sad SHE went through what she did (I am by NO MEANS comparing our experiences- they both sucked) it’s also kind of cathartic, knowing that she’s made it out the other side and is (or at least seems to be) healing from her trauma.
I enjoyed it, until the part at the end where she talked about how she started eating cat feces for sexual purposes. I can't get through that part without masturbating.
You remind me so much of Emma Watson when she is in "the perks of being a wallflower" and I just love it and your ASMR. You are so gentle and sweet, thank you. 🥰
I swear, page turning is such an underrated trigger! It is such a cool sound to me! Loved this one so much! So glad you are getting better, Sarah. I hope you make a full recovery soon!!
Feels like half the world have been sick at the start of the year, I was knocked for six for about 2 weeks there and I'm getting only over it now, glad to hear you're also on the mend Sarah and back making great ASMR!
Sarah thank you so much for the company and for the excellent reviews! You are an oasis of calmness amidst a turbulent world. Take care and hope you feel better soon.
Perfect timing about to go sleep and I love the book sounds series 😁 thank you for this on s Friday night 🙌🏻💙 Hope you feel 100% better soon. One day I really need a full book sounds vid just whispered 😁
@@SarahLavenderASMR I few were probably The Revenant, Picture of Dorian Grey and White Fang. I really like the dystopian and utopian society kinda books so I read a lot of Ray Bradburys catalog too
So love these book reviews, I'm going to look into some of these, thanks Sarah as I have a new Audible credit. I totally know what you mean about narrators spoiling books too!
I love essays, studied them a lot in college. "A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again" by David Foster Wallace was the collection that convinced me essays could be exhilarating literary experiences, more than just stuffy academic writing. Also every single essay Annie Dillard has written, but especially "Total Eclipse."
I'm glad my mom died was an excellent listen. I found so much healing in her writing and so much similarity to my relationship with my mother. Can't wait for more from her!
Going through with my finals so I’m not able to read that much ,watching you talk about books was an amazing experience 😊 Also as a book recommendation From certainty to uncertainty is a nice read for anyone interested in science
Love book related videos like this one!! So relaxing 🤍 Also, you remind me of Rose Byrne! Not sure if you hear that often but I felt the need to mention it. Totally a compliment btw
Why did you pause after saying, "I was missing a pinky....nail?" I was so concerned lol 😭Thanks for the tingles, Sarah! I hope u continue to feel better
Ray Porter is my favorite audiobook narrator! I loved Project Hail Mary and I’ve literally listened to other books just because he narrates them. I recommend The Bobiverse too which he narrates if you like sci fi.
To anyone who liked Jeanette Mcurdy's book, I HIGHLY recommend 'Not My Father's Son' by Alan Cumming. If you listen on audio, Alan reads it and it's v similar vibes, a very emotional, gripping story from an actor who grew up with an abusive parental figure
The book “Fifty words for rain” by Asha Lemmie is absolutely amazing. It gets very dark but it’s just so good!! I don’t know if it would be for you but I was addicted from start to finish. I had my grandma read it too and she also really liked it.
Ray Porter is phenomenal in the audiobook version of Project Hail Mary. I couldn't believe the hype, and had to try it. Wow. The guy is something else. Some say he can only be as good as his material, perhaps, but amazing nonetheless. Great rec!!! Great vid, thank you!!
My all time fave book is Terraform by Propaganda. He is a poet, artist, and social activist and this book is a collection of poems, autobiography, and theory. 10/10
Wow! We’re probably the same age. I was also in kindergarten when 9-11 happened. I used to work at a bookstore and so many people I’ve talked to have said they love Barbra Kingsolver. I need to read The Poisonwood Bible. You are definitely my favorite asmrtist that talks about books. Thanks for creating!
I take dust jackets off while I’m reading and put them somewhere safe until I’m finished and then I put the jacket back on to either donate the book or return it to my shelf to look beautiful haha
Great video 😊 I recently read 'Spitfire Women of World War 2' by Giles Whittell which was so interesting. Highly recommend it! Also, 'The Glass Lake' by Maeve Binchy is a great read.😊
I really enjoy your book reviews. You’re great at ASMR. You have to read Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus. I can’t put it down. I started it Friday and read it nonstop today. It’s a funny, unpredictable and quirky feminist novel set in the 50s.
I dropped everything to watch and listen. Your book videos are my favorite. I also love Kingsolver! If you can get your hands on a copy of "A Natural History of the Senses" by Diane Ackerman, I think you might love it. Also, for an audio book, "Light Falls" with both the author, Brian Greene and Paul Rudd as Einstein .....pure space / science poetry. About 4 hours and it may still be free on Audible. 🌌
Props to you, your voice and commitment to us; glad you are on the tail end! Re: book jackets. I recycle them. Like you, I find them slipoery. However and but... I still have the dust jacket for the first book I ever bought. I had to save two pay checks (I was 16 and only worked two hours per week) to buy it: Stephen King's IT..
As someone with annoyingly sharp eyesight, the fact that you were still a little sick was evident based on small details. I remember in my late teens putting some money into one of Jennette McCurdy's online platforms (she was fundraising something) and thinking how much clarity and sincerity she puts into communicating her views. That was 10 years before she got that book published, and now that her fame is much more independent from the iCarly sphere, I couldn't be happier for her.
I still need to read that, I’ve heard nothing but good things about it
I enjoyed it, until the part at the end where she talked about how she started eating cat feces for sexual purposes. I can't get through that part without masturbating.
🎉
You remind me so much of Emma Watson when she is in "the perks of being a wallflower" and I just love it and your ASMR. You are so gentle and sweet, thank you. 🥰

Hey Sarah, it's so good to see you 😊❤❤
Ohh, found you through GentleWhispering, and I have been wanting some book-related ASMR!
Just what I was waiting for ❤

Love the recommendation! 🥰
yay soft spoken + whispers switch 🫶🏼
Karl Ove Knausgard's essay books are my favorites! The first of them is titled "Autumn", and they are basically essays to his unborn daughter.
The book “Fifty words for rain” by Asha Lemmie is absolutely amazing. It gets very dark but it’s just so good!! I don’t know if it would be for you but I was addicted from start to finish. I had my grandma read it too and she also really liked it.

Anthony Bourdain actually did narrate the Kitchen Confidential audiobook. It’s great!
Very Relaxing 😌
I’ve never felt so old as I did when Sarah said she was in kindergarten when 9/11 happened…like holy crap
Great taste in books 😌
In terms of Chinese/Asian fantasy I have only read The Poppy War by RF Kuang which was a fantastic read.
22:43 😯 Whoa, Sarah! Didn't Know You Could Read That Quick! Lol 😏
A couple short story collections I like are Olive Kittredge, A Visit to the Goon Squad, and Unaccustomed Earth.
Hi Sarah! Happy Friday ❤❤❤❤
Barbara Kingsolver's "Animal Dreams" is really good!
So relaxing.... 😴🥰
I take dust jackets off when I'm reading the book and keep them on the shelf, but they go back on once I'm finished!
You should do more of this soft spoken type of video. It's really good or at least to me.
