I have never received a speeding ticket, don't use drugs or alcohol, do not smoke and am physically healthy. I went to sign up like 5 years ago but I was told no then called again and asked if I was still interested. I already graduated from college also. Maybe in the future if they DESPERATELY need me as an alternative I may join. :D I like how straight to the point they are and how they whip out the hesitation in people and the individuality so things get done right as a team. I always loved that because at school and work people always hesitate when working together and in the army they force you to hurry up and be efficient as a team. If there was an evacuation in the civilian world people would take their time and have no plan of action unless there was a military person or police officer conducting the evacuation. Maybe some confident people that can take leadership but still. My brain already functions in a save time ,act quick, be efficient and tactful type of way.

i hated 30th ag at benning with a passion. Also why is it that every army video has some nice lady talking in the background it's just reception but once you go on to training it's no walk in the park at all.
I unfortunately got rushed through my fitment for my uniform so my boots were not properly fitted i had to put socks in the back of my boots to keep my heels from getting obliterated
I hated the shorts at first they were too small lol,but when I got the right clothes it was cool,they added something toy food on Paris island and down here I had a blood disorder,you gotta have the right boots,mine were to small at first....

Man the really revamped that reception area. I went in 2012 and we were using porta johns that were cleaned probably once a weak. Like there was so much piss in there it was flooding up the urinal and was like inches away from your ass if you for what ever reason were brave enough to take a shit in there.

New kids coming in to active duty are hard to deal with. No motivation from any of them, or straight up lazy soldiers stuck playing on their phones. Some of them get easily offended when they are told to get back to work, one cried racism. One guy who I was told to watch over was late for formations 3 times a week. He would rather talk on his cell phone all day, than turn wrenches as he was told to do. One cried in my car and threatened to go awol because we keep yelling at him for not doing his job and being late. The military downsized for a reason and it was to weed out these folks I mentioned.
Dam the army has this problem to I'm studying for the asvab test to join the Navy and I hear the same story from a navy diver if the Navy doesn't work out for me I'll join the army but you won't catch me with my phone out I'll just ask hey can I have a few moments to call my mom to tell her how I'm doing then hang up but im pissed about these kids and electronics I do own a tablet and a phone but barely use it
ahh, wish i had OCPs issued to me during basic. but my cycle was the last cycle to use ACUs at my basic. fort leonardwood (sept-nov 2015). had to buy my own when i was at AIT.

Question for all my vets. Do you have to setup a bank account right then and there? Can I just get paid directly to my current bank account? I'm 100% ready to join but my wife will need access to my bank account for help with bills and rent while I'm gone. Don't need her hanging out to dry

I went in 20 years ago, but even then you had your choice of your personal bank or the banks within the base. Mine was Ft. Jackson Credit for most of my career. Just have your routing and acct numbers handy.

Of course we'd buy things. Then they'd do another shake down and take our expensive stuff we'd just buy and never give them back. You know darn well it was a scam setup and they would keep these things for themselves.

The worst part of reception is that there's no real limit on how long they can keep you there, and it doesn't count toward anything.

Fort Sill fits you for ASU's at reception? It was way different on Leonardwood, we didn't do it till Blue phase
They had us stay up for close to 38 hours tops and made us stand in formation in a hallway from 0230am till breakfast
