Hi I just bought this mixer so this demo was useful. I'm fairly happy with it but (as you said) the flanger and Chorus effects do not work. Fortunately I doubt I would ever use these anyway but would like them working nevertheless. Someone said they DO work but are subtle. Well I tried every combination of settings on these and there is definitely no difference when you mute effects on and off. Have you looked further into this? Maybe we are both missing something! Other than those, the other effects are pretty nice. Oh, and I agree with other posters that the mains AC unit is pretty flimsy though.
Dear friend I have them open but the only problem I have is that i don't get reverb to monitor. i mean one active speaker connected to 1 MON (above of AUX SEND) How can I send reverb only there? (mixer's bulit in reverb)
If testing flanger and chorus effects you should use a clear continuous tone, as they are both effects which shift pitch over time and don't show up well on speech. That said, I would have expected to be able to detect something if you had the effect level turned up.
I'm surprised more people are not reviewing this mixer. I'm trying to get Alto techs to watch this video before I send it in for a replacement since don't want to spend money for shipping and be without the mixer just to get another unit that sounds the same. Could be that effect on all the units.
Hey David - do you use a ground loop isolator with that mixer. We have just bought one for video production at the office and are unable to eliminate a buzzing / hissing sound. We have tried various mic combinations but it only goes away when we bypass the mixer and route directly to the camcorder.
This man really does not understand how those special-effects work. You cannot get any chorus or flangereffect with one short word, they work mainly with instruments. Try to study more.

Your mixing settings are not set correct? my mixer had the same issue but after adjusting some of the settings i,e :Aux send and on the return on each line I got them to work, hope this helps anyone with the same issue. Cheers,

When in Flanger or Chorus mode have you tried each variation? Are you testing it connected like the picture with a Mic in the Low-Z XLR input, it's possible those effects only work on the Hi-Z connections, like for Instrument inputs not Vocal.I'm getting one of these soon and will test to make sure.
Looks like TH-cam (Google) finally fixed the bug preventing me from responding to posts. To Tim below, I have not used a ground loop isolator. I'd be great if you'd share more on that, or even do a short video of what's happening.
Was actually an experiment to upload the video, but any signal to my knowledge is good. There are multiple outputs so pick the one that you get a signal from. Test and have fun :)
Amz, I'm not getting a hum other than if I use my condenser mic it will create a hum if I have the monitors on so I use headphones to record and is fine. I got the mic and mixer to do voice-overs for solarfactory dotcom.

All of the effects do work, but you have a 'variation' knob that changes the amount/type of each effect including the flanger and chorus,etc. It might be that you got a dud however which I think is the case. Personally, I think if you plan on recording with the Alto Professional zmx 122 then you may run into problems with having a buzz/hum sound that occurs when using the 1/4 inch to 3.5mm adaptor. You send the mixer sound from the headphone out to your computer. The computer asks if you this is a 'line-in or a mic,etc' and you choose 'line-in'. You can reduce the buzz/hum sound but i'm not sure if changing the volumes on the mixer actually eliminates it. Another type of adaptor is a potential solution as well (1/4 inch to usb, which I will try soon). However, if you're just wanting live sound then it's a decent mixer. The variation feature will tweek such effects as stereo delay or reverb+chorus to the amount desired, but the problems experienced with home studio recording will probably make me return it to try the mackie profx 8. The price difference of 80 bucks for the mackie is the real issue and mackie seems to have a similar if not better product.
I'm using a PC, 3820 processor on a x79A-GD65 8D mobo with 32G ram and EVGA GTX670 4G card. The sound is THX TruStudio PRO on the mobo. System is built to learn & create film/video making for marketing. The mixer is very good other than the Flanger/Chorus effect that's probably bad. I contacted Alto but about it, then replied once, I replied, they never replied again and I'm so busy I've not complained more. If someone has one of these mixers and these two effects are working, post it.
The flanger does work! (And chorus) they just don’t pop out in the mix with vocals.

Also strange how the reverbs in this test are mono - shouldn't they be stereo? T
he only stereo effect in this demo was the stereo delay.

I saw this mixer at the Guitar Center for about $120. I might pick this up, so I can mixed down tracks during my lunch break.

I did verify, I could not hear the flanger or chorus on the XLR input. I could on the line/guitar input though, so you may be right.

I actually exchanged mine for the Behringer X1204USB and like it better.
