Not a bad concept. Shame Grob got rid of the "bubble" canopy and returned to the 120A large arched version. Not good for lookout above and behind for pitching manoeuvres. Also why not paint it in a more conspicuous paint scheme like those Red Bull Carbon Fibre Composite airframes and F1 cars? Minute 8:00 demonstrates lack of head room when canopy opening and relatively high cockpit coaming ahead. How does it compare with updated SF260TP?
I am interested in buying 2 Grob 120TP for our flight school. We specialize in teaching high school students and veterans how to fly I am also interested in becoming a Grob dealer
It's high operating cost does not lend itself well to general aviation. With general aviation one can get by with a set of headphones and fuel. This however is not the case with a military trainer and requires a great deal more support equipment. Though the Grob 115E Tutor is popular with private pilots it still has a high operating cost.
cameron747100 That was kinda the point. It's "primary" role is as a military trainer and as such carries a higher maintenance cost. However you are wrong about it "only" being used as a military trainer. Several aviation schools and colleges around the world use the 115E as they can more easily absorb the costs. For instance in the UK the majority of 115E's are owned and operated by the private sector that the military use to train pilots. But the same planes are also used to train civilian pilots.
Great presentation!
