That tower in Chester is the 'shot' tower. It was used for making lead shot, by dropping molten lead from the top into cold water, where it solidified into round lead shot.

Thank you for the info! I went up a shot tower in West London a couple of years ago.

Do you know if they have any steam locomotives at this miniature railway?
BTW - The Northern Class 150 with a blunt end is a Class 150/1 and the Transport for Wales Class 150 with corridor connection is a Class 150/2.
Kind regards, Peter Skuce. St Albans. Hertfordshire.

They did last time I visited so the steam loco could have possibly been in the shed.

@@HenrysAdventures Hi, former GPMR staff member here! Last steam engine to run at the line (In passenger service) was 2013. There was 2 steam locos, Brenda Isabella - A Romulus loco and Stevie B, a Thomas II. Brenda Isabella was taken out of service many years ago for a boiler replacement which never happened. Stevie B moved to Poplar Miniature Railway where it was renamed Poppy. the fleet comprises 2 petrol hydrostatic locos and a petrol hydraulic which is Mighty Max. Their other main loco is one of Mighty max's sisters, the Union pacific 6602 GP40. They also have a class 47 numbered 47170 in some suedo-BR Blue livery which never works anymore. Spend £5,200 on its refurbishment and it and it hasn't been running since I left the railway in 2018.
