I’m giving candles to the neighbors and wanted to make candle mats. This video came at the perfect time. Never would have thought to do the turning your way. Thanks, that’s brilliant.
This was live, earlier. When you see this comment area it's because the live is over. Click on your choices right below the video and you can click "live chat" so you can see the chat from when it WAS live. Honestly, it's impossible for someone to do the tutorial as they do AND read the computer screen and interact, answer questions etc. all by themselves. When Jake would read to her so she could talk, answer questions and interact and would also help explain - people complained. Then they switched in Liz to do Jake's part - people complained. What it comes down to is someone is always going to be unhappy. Misty (and Jenny, Natalie, Jake, Liz and ALL of MSQC) thank you for sharing tutorials and information here however you choose FOR FREE for me to choose to watch or not. THANK YOU 😃
I know what you mean... it's just so sad to me that people feel the need to whine. When I take the time to watch tutorials on my computer, I watch what I want and feel so very thankful to the people who take the time, effort and money to do this for all of us. And for free! This was another of MSQC's fabulous (free for me) tutorial and Misty did exceptional work, as always. Blessings to you and yours, this Christmas season.
CUTE!! I really love to use my Pinking Shears trim around projects that need to be turned out. I find it makes the seams around the perimeter lay very flat and easy to iron, so that none of the backing fabric shows from the top side. For example, I recently made a quilt using the CIRCLE MAJIC TEMPLATE and found I didn't have to fight with the fabric to get it to lay smoothly and evenly. This is a quick and adorable project Misty, thanks for the tutorial! ~~Christy~~
Thanks for another great, free and fun tutorial, Misty! This project looks totally doable. I learn so much from you all at MSQ Co. Please ignore the negative comments. Thanks again!
Cute, quick and easy project. Misty I really like your idea and instructions of where to leave the seam open to turn 😊 I will do it that way when possible so the edges of my quilt don’t look uneven like they usually end up.
Thank you Misty! This is the perfect table topper for our new table my husband made. I love it and it’s so simple too. I love the idea of the mini table topper too. What a cute “mug rug” and place to put a pastry on a napkin too for a quick breakfast or snack. 🌸💖💖💖🌸
Thanks Misty. I’m putting this on my bucket list for next year. I think I can use this basic plan for a small Christmas tree skirt for my skinny tree. I appreciate all your tutorials very much.
We made a large one at a local Library and cut a hole in the center so it would be a tree skirt. We sewed the batting and the top together. Made 1 top and then dis another top for the backing. It came out pretty. Can decorate the top also
Very cute. I have almost every template but this one your using!! So I’ll make mine using my Dresden!! Hope it works lol 😂 Always fun watching your Tutorials
It's a 30 degree angle on the inside and 90 degree on the outside. That means the other two angles are 120 degrees. Yes, I'm one of those "geometry people" who doesn't need a template. I make my own...
Misty, thank you once again for such a fun, easy project. Please refresh my memory, however, on how to load the backing fabric. Is it right side down? Thank you.
I may be wrong it may be just a little small, but if you left one side open and had a little hole in the center, it would make a cute Christmas tree skirt.
If you want it to be curved, you have to add the equivalent of small darts to the seams along the outside edges. About 2 inches from the edge, gradually increase the seam allowance from 1/4 inch to maybe 3/4 of an inch. Try one first using a long stitch and test it out, and adjust it to how you like it to fit your bowl.
Hi Misty, this is so cute! And simple! And quick! One Q: when topstitching between the wedges, how close did you stitch? In the ditch? 1/4”? 1/8”? It’s hard to see in the video. Thx. 🌷
What would you get if you continued with the large periwinkle? I know a larger topper but..... I think it would look wonderful, too~ Your topper is so pretty!
Tuning in late. Question: Why have I had such a hard time finding a pattern fir a nativity quilt? I was sure I'd find one at MSQC in Oct but even they didn't have one. Somebody please make one that doesn't require a specialty ruler or curved seams.
I am not a fan of the shows where I would interact with the person presenting the tutorial. I personally like to watch the video at least once and then go back and sew along with her or him. I don’t like a lot of chit-chat. I do like where Misty and her mom get together to present tutorials. They are a lot of fun! Pat Berne
Very cute! BTW...I think you've changed your lighting the past few month and it is too harsh - the people are washed out and everything is too bright. You might want to take a look at that.
I miss the live shows where Misty interacted with the viewers. People are taking time out of their day to watch a live video only for it to be just like a recorded one. She doesn’t even look to see who’s on anymore.
You could do a better job of showing how the points all come together. Be more specific with the type of batting you use as there are so many different kinds and for anyone not familiar with batting if would help if you name the brand. Also, whatever camera you're using makes you look off to the side or something, not at the audience. Not a good way to do a video.

I LOVE the sound scissors ✂️ make when cutting fabric! Thanks for using them and not fast forwarding that part!
Hello from a rainy San Francisco area! Finally a little rain!
We are so thankful for the rain in Modesto, CA!
Us too in So. California, finally! Although we don't like to get it all in one day and get flooded out. Stay safe everyone. ☔
You did a very good job showing each step without rushing through it, and it came out beautifully! You are an excellent teacher. 👏

I try to do a different seasonal fabric on the back of my runners or toppers. Then flip to the backside for the next season
Patricia, that’s exactly what I like to do too.

Sadly, people are always going to find something to complain about instead of just being grateful.

Great tutorial. Wonderful idea about the opening!
Cute, quick and easy project. Misty I really like your idea and instructions of where to leave the seam open to turn 😊

Really cute.
Good tip about putting the turning hole where you did!
So many fun things!!! Thank you Misty!
Wonderful pattern and thank you for your great quilt teaching
Cute and Fast. Just ordered the pattern for next year's add in gifts. Thank you, Misty,!
Pretty table topper! Thank you for the tutorial! Happy Holidays ☃️
Lovely projects, and you’ve made good us of the fabrics. 😊🎄
Misty I made this yesterday. I love it thank you so much.
Love how you made the table topper. Thank you.
Fabulous idea and you make it look easy. It’s a new must for me thank you.
Thank you so much. You are so easy to fallow. Can’t wait to make this.
I love a good bowl cozy. They are so handy.
How do you make a bowl cozy with theses templates
Hello from Davenport FL
Love this!
I actually made a 4th of July themed table topper. So cute.
Very cute and seemed quite easy!
Love it. Great job
I love this idea! Thank you!!!
I’ve made numerous of the 5in ones but never thought about the 10in I’m going to try it.
❤️👍
Wonderful tutorial! Thank you for sharing your expertise. Blessings to all of y'all. Merry Christmas, everyone.
Awesome Christy thank you😇😍

@@redhen689 do you know how long the 90 degree sides are? 5 inches?
@@redhen689 well your very lucky then! I don’t need a recipe and I can cook Gourmet Meal, so we all have our highs
@@carolrepyneck7300 are you wanting to make the big one or the small one?
@@carolrepyneck7300 Just eyeballing it it looks closer to 6 inches. I can try to do the math later.
Hello from NH
Good job
Great tutorial-I’m curious how to do bowl cozy? I ordered the templates, excited to make these!
Misty, thank you once again for such a fun, easy project. Please refresh my memory, however, on how to load the backing fabric. Is it right side down? Thank you.
Could you make this into a tree skirt??
Love the Christmas colors!!
I may be wrong it may be just a little small, but if you left one side open and had a little hole in the center, it would make a cute Christmas tree skirt.
How do you make a bowl cozie out of the smaller template????
It may lay flat, but you should be able to curve it around a hot bowl with your hands.

Thx. 🌷
Mine reminds me of a square package with a 4 point bow!
I love this and I’ve made it multiple times I just tried the small one and I can’t get it to lay flat what am I doing wrong
I just realized you only do six I did eight I can fix it now
What would you get if you continued with the large periwinkle? I know a larger topper but..... I think it would look wonderful, too~ Your topper is so pretty!
I’d love to have a pin cushion like yours. Will that come back in stock?
Misty, you’ve said the small periwinkle could be a bowl cozy. Would you stitch the corners together to make a bowl-like shape?
Very nice video- what size is it?
Misty, what is the finished size of the table topper?
The Table topper is 12" x 12"
I thought this was live. I CAN'T BELIEVE PEOPLE COMPLAINED! I miss the overhead shots. I miss the live interaction. Oh well.
I find it easier to sew 3 wedges to make each half. Then sew across the halves together..... leaving that opening.
How do I order the template rulers ? I love this
How big does the one made with the Stretched Periwinkle Template end up being?
Where can I purchase the template Misty used to make this table topper?
Tuning in late. Question: Why have I had such a hard time finding a pattern fir a nativity quilt? I was sure I'd find one at MSQC in Oct but even they didn't have one. Somebody please make one that doesn't require a specialty ruler or curved seams.
You could start with a nativity panel and add borders to make it larger.
Can you make this bigger by adding more than 8 pieces for example 10 pieces to each side thanks
How can I turn this into a hot pad?
What is the size of this project?
What are the measurements of the ruler please.
👍❤️😊
What does that measure when done?
I’d say about 18” in diameter since they were cut from 10” squares, minus seam allowances. 2 x 10”= 20” minus 2- 1/4” seam allowances= 1/2” each
The template is about 11” long, so twice that (width of two point to point pieces) minus seam allowances. About 21”?
The lightning needs to be adjusted. The last several tutorials have been too light across the top portion and is hard to see.
I am not a fan of the shows where I would interact with the person presenting the tutorial. I personally like to watch the video at least once and then go back and sew along with her or him. i miss the Live shows. Don't understand the long intro wait for a video. They don't do that for Jenny's tutorials
Very cute! BTW...I think you've changed your lighting the past few month and it is too harsh - the people are washed out and everything is too bright. You might want to take a look at that.
Thank you!! I keep saying something but no one is paying attention. It’s way to bright.
I got a new phone and thought it was me. It is too bright! no depth.
