City of Heroes: Underground Trial Guide

  • Welcome to my second trial guide for City of Heroes. One thing I didn't include in the video is to ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOUR LEAGUE CHAT IS VISIBLE! This lets you see the orders from the league leader, which will make things go much more easily for everyone.
    A second thing to note is Desdemona Transfer Mechanics. Often times, Desdemona will end up on a player that really shouldn't have her, like the league tank or the bomb triggerer. Now, if Desdemona is on this crucial player that will be running ahead and drawing aggro, there are a couple of ways to "pass" her. The easiest is to just hit the self-destruct button, and she will automatically start heading for the nearest player they go boom. The best way, however, is to isolate the group except for the Des carrier and a player willing to take Des, and just teleport the Des carrier. Des will then go to the nearest player, and everyone can continue. However you shouldn't pass Des just because you have her and don't want her, since you could be passing to someone who does a worse job than you.
    Special notice goes to Dru OPH because.... he asked to be in the credits and I really don't have a credits list. Usually you can tell who helped me in the trial by looking at the league names on the left. However, for future reference, if anyone wants to be in a video or get special mention or ask where the video will be or how to find it, the worst time to talk about it is right smack dab in the middle of the video.. I"m kind of busy with, you know, the video.
    The underground trial is, in my opinion, the hardest trial in the game at the moment. This is due to the high precision needed to pull off several maneuvers, as well as the trial structure being vulnerably to idiocy and mistakes. It only takes one player being where they shouldn't be to kill half the league, or cap the Avatar's regen. Also, the trial either needs great coordination or several Clarion powers in order to make it past the final fight, since the confusion caused by the Avatar is nearly impossible to overcome without some countermeasure in place. I would've loved to get a badge run of this trial, however due to recording difficulties I have to go with whatever I can get.
    For this run I went with the first toon I ever made, a sonic resonance/archery defender named Zerenade. Her abilities are very plain and straightforward, however she is quite good at them, from nearly capping everyone's defenses by herself to unloading a nuke on every other enemy group. The main reason why I went with her is because she is really well suited for the trial:
    *Her resistance buffs can save players from Lethal Force Authorized
    *Her dispersion bubble gives ambient mezz protection to everyone near her.
    *Leadership toggles give confuse protection and resistance, as well as fear protection and resistance
    *She can make Desdemona nearly indestructible
    *Her resistance debuffs alone increase the team's damage output against the AVs by 48%.
    *Has tier 4 Clarion.
    All in all she is extremely well suited for the trial. It is unfortunate that more players do not play support sets, since support sets are so potent in this game.

    I was in this Trial as Steamwater Angel this brings me back to when I use to play this game oh how I miss City of Heroes.
