Yes each regiment has its own uniform, since this was a rehearsal, except a few, none of them were in the uniform they would actually be wearing on the day. The men in black are from NSG, these are soldiers from the Indian army that come on deputation into NSG, many of them are from PARA SF, and other SF units of the navy, airforce or regular infantry who can clear the selection, they focus mainly on CT, hostage rescue, anti hijack etc since they are drawn from various backgrounds, there's a lot of diversity in specialisation. They get trained in bio and chemical warfare hence he was in a hazmat suit 😂, and the ones in brown pants were police. The ones in black with swords were the navy and the ones in blue with numbering on them were from airforce. Those are just random numbers to help the drill instructors to organise them.

In Indian armed forced, the sword were hold or carried with the right hand where the arms are in L form and also the weapon were hold and carried by holding the pistol grip or the butt stock by putting it on your shoulder ( if weapon like m16,SLR and if the weapon short like the British standard issue rifle like LA85A2, the carrying style is like the Queen Guards do by carrying it on your shoulder). As the former British colony, the Indian armed force march and drill style were according to British military. Not only that, the entire Commonwealth country force is adopting the British military drills style like stomping the right foot to halt and so other movement. The Commonwealth country like Canada, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, New Zealand, Kenya and so on are also adopting this style of British military drills or marching style. As long as you are Commonwealth member, well the marching is still the same only the language of commands are difference. Well, check other video like Malaysia trooping the colour. Its completely the same.

They are wearing ceremonial uniforms! And there are alot of them!
The ones with the fancy blue hat were of the Delhi police,
The ones on the camel are supposed to be BSF (Border Security Force)however they were not wearing the ceremonial uniform for some reason, rest assured they would during the parade. If im not wrong it is the only camel mounted unit in the world.
The horses are part of the presidential guard and accompany the Indian President, they are also one of the last mounted units, im not sure but i think they operate tanks in the field.
There are alot of ceremonial uniforms used by different regiments of the Indian Army, most are related to the cultural wear with a western look to it. Typically a different hats.
Further, the NSG is a CT unit not under the Army or MOD but Ministry of Home Affairs.

I was attended this rehearsal in 1989 when I was a cadet in NCC (National Cadet Corps). These rehearsals are not in the night, it normally starts early morning 5am. Its in January, so obviously the mist will cover the area. Before Jan 26th the republic day, on Jan 23rd or 24th, there will be a full dress rehearsal and this is one of kind of that. The moment we give a salute to the president of India is one of the most glorious moment of any person who march there. I still keep that glory in my mind after 32 years. The NSG or Paras jog or run at that pace for two kilometers and that's something extraordinary with awesome physical skills. By overall, this is one of a fantastic opportunity to meet the people from all over the states in india and that's really something we never forget :) I love you India, Jai Hind :)

Republic Day rehearsal is the most toughest job. They don't stop at any cost until perfection. If you do a single mistake in the parade, you will get some sort of punishment. I remember, my brother calling mom and crying and he wanted to quit the parade. The units shown here are mixed of everything. Army, airforce, navy, commandos, NCC etc ...

In British marching or drilling system and style or tradition as you can say, swinging arms by 90 degrees frontward is to maintain your distance from your partner at the frontside and 40 or also 90 degrees backward. Thats is the concept but only during slow march does not required to swinging your arms

The gun is INSAS short for INDIAN SMALL ARMS SYSTEM. It is a gas operated three round burst, single round and safety type gun and it fires 5.56×45mm NATO type bullets. Has a capacity of firing 600 rounds per minute and has a muzzle velocity of 900m/second. Is also in service from 1998 to present. Reliable arm but ofc not as good as its russian counterpart AK-47 which is also a gas operated but has a victory point over the insas as it can shoot more rounds and has an automatic mode in it as compared to insas that doesnt.

The British, who used bagpipes in their army bands, introduced the instrument to India in the 19th century. The Indian military style of bagpipe-playing, which is sonorous and set to Scottish tunes, draws directly from this tradition
Even though it is likely a Scottish introduction.. as with Scottish Canadian units and many other nationalities.. I believe that the Indians had a similur instrument back in their history....

Dear sir I can understand your confusion about the uniform 's it is because Unlike the USA Indian Army follows its Imperial Royal history with the British and India is a land which have such a diverse cultural religious and linguistic barriers within its boundaries because of that each and every single Regiment of Indian Army carries the very same colour code for the uniform but depending where they are coming the regimental Insignia Durbin which side they use their aligners such things well change. and the video with your reacting now is our Republic Day parade rehearsal on the parade there is not only e the army part is waiting Indian Airforce Indian Navy 7 other Paramilitary forces and a number of Federal police conditions was also participating in on it.
