    Hey Ian. Great content as always. I appreciate the fact Woody is casting a wide net for GM and HC, but I feel like we have the #1 overall pick right now. If Woody likes a specific GM or HC or pairing, he needs to pull the trigger before some other enticing team does. Why would he let Vrabel go knowing NE was going to come calling? What happen if Vrabel, Rex, and Carroll sign elsewhere within a week, then what? He needs to chose ASAP and pay whoever he wants before other teams start plucking...

    Shouldn’t the Jets choose the GM first instead of looking for HC candidates simultaneously?
    Looking for a Head Coach before finding a General Manager to find his own HC suggests Jets insanity all over again … Just my take JC.

    Something else to consider. The Jets a have got a BIG Head Start in this process with a number of HC Candidates already being interviewed once. Opinions are being formed even ikf the Jets are bringing them back in for a second round of interviews. Will this poison the atmosphere for some GM Candidates ?

  • @christopherphillips520

      I hear ya but we also can use another LB since Mosley won’t be back, a CB since Reed is gone, 2 DT b/c Kinlaw & Clemons were terrible..and hopefully a coach who holds his players accountable.. and who has some experience at HC is a must!!

  • @MrBrunoGI

    Its possible that the jets cast a wide net and it coming out empty. They already interviewed quality gm candidates, they need to make their decision. I would go experience and young up and coming candidates. I would hire Dimitrioff as gm and pair him with someone like Louis Reddick as assistant gm. Have them involved with tannananbuam and spielman in the head coach search.

    There is an obvious advantage to this pairing, that they know each other, presumably share the same philosophy. I have no problem with Borgonzi , he has been there a while, has done scouting and is not a cap guy primarily (after Douglas and Idzik, no more cap guys, please. We already have president who is a lawyer and beancounter, it hurts the team). Nagy on the other hand is no go for me, he is another "offensive genius' supposedly, and we don't need another of those, we need someone who will be a head coach. Nagy would be the equivalent of Saleh, where their whole effort is scheming their side of the ball. Under Nagy, the defense at Chicago declined, and they had problems with player accountability and lack of effort and some players were in revolt when he was coach.
    And working as OC under Reid means he is a clipboard guy to Reid.

    I would actually be excited about this pairing. I live in Illinois and listen to Chicago radio often and Nagy actually got a lot of blame for lack of talent and never had a viable qb. Trubisky, Fields. Granted we are in need of a qb ourselves, but he is a legit coaching candidate. Go Jets

      I don't understand the love for Coen as HC. Yes, Tampa Bay is in the playoffs and Mayfield is playing his b*** off, but cmon. Coen may be an offensive genius, but we aren't hiring an OC, it is a head coach. We don't need an offensive version of Saleh, who sits with the Xs and 0's of the offense and ignores all else. We had that with Gase as well. We need a head coach who is a head coach, not a coordinator+. Coen has 2 years of NFL coaching experience, that is it, and you think he can handle the culture issue with the Jets, or deal with the media and fans? Again no disrespect for Coen as an offensive guy, but we need a real HC.

    • @HappyEddyMcGuire
      @HappyEddyMcGuire วันที่ผ่านมา

      To compare to Gase... you're smarter than that. Every candidate works one side of the ball. It's an offensive league. He is that next guy. Look at what Dave Canales is doing in Carolina. Coen took that same O in Tampa and made it wayyyyyy better in one year.

    • @njlauren
      @njlauren วันที่ผ่านมา

      @HappyEddyMcGuire
      Yeah but we are hiring a head coach, not an offensive coordinator. Coen has almost no experience as an NFL coach, you think he is adept at managing players, the media, and yes the owner?
      We hired Saleh for his D capability and that is what we got. We hired bowles for that, same problem. Gase was like that, though worse. Herm had some of the same problems, though he was a better coach than any of them.
      We can't have a geek obsessing about X's abd 0 s. Herm said that talking to Asman recently, he said a couple of things. That a head coach had to be in charge of everything and that few coaches can effectively HC and play call. The other thing he said was that with offense you need an oc who not only can scheme, but can adjust his game to the QB he has. Coen is an unknown , Mayfield and Stafford were both experienced QBs with him.
      Again we need a head coach, not an offensive whiz. I don't have a problem with a O coach who helps develop the scheme and who helps coach up a QB; but I dont want them focusing only on the offense and I don't want them calling the offense.

    • @HappyEddyMcGuire
      @HappyEddyMcGuire วันที่ผ่านมา

      @njlauren I understand your point. And I agree. We need a HC, a ceo type. Which is exactly what Saleh was. That said there is no HC on this list other than Vrabel who is gone and Gruden who woke Hymie wouldn't interview... they are all one side of ball coaches who will also be coordinating their side. Look at the playoffs. Mostly O coaches and O coaches will win this wknd. They have a massive advantage. I bet Denver beats Buffalo. O advantage. I respect your opinion. Who do you want?

      I don't have a problem with Borgonzi. But Nagy? He is another of these "offensive geniuses' that scare me. Reids OC? He holds the clipboard, Reid calls the offense. Head Coach? At Chicago, they had some of the same problems we see with the Jets, sloppy play, lack of accountability.
      I understand why people want an offensive HC, that the D head coaches we have had focus on the defense and ignore the offense, we want a modern offense after the Rodgers/Hackett nightmare. We need a HC who is a head coach, who is reponsible for it all, not an X's and O offensive guy so busy scheming he ignores the rest.

    Hadn't really considered Nagy since I pictured the Bears as being a pretty mid to bottom team the last 20-30 years, except for a few exceptions. But Nagy actually didn't do that badly. In the 3 yrs prior under Fox, the Bears won 6, 3, & 5 games. In Nagy's first yr, the Bears won 12, and then 8, 8, & 6 with QBs such as Trubisky and a rookie Fields. Made the playoffs 2x. Coming from the Andy Reid coaching tree, I'd certainly take Nagy over Rex.

    • @njlauren

      No, there is no reason to. First of all, taking a coach coming off being fired is not a good idea, they don't have perspective. Secondly, Peterson in Jacksonville didn't improve anything, and Lawrence hasn't shown any improvement. I really wonder if in Philly he got lucky, that Wentz and Folces fit his scheme.

      He was fired for a reason, and it wasn't just the QB. Chicago under him had problems with accountability, the defense fell off during his time there, and he was known for focusing on the offense and letting everything else go. They should've change the coach second year and half, offer Saleh a DC job because he in his time he was learning to become a coach and need a lot of work in the offense side. Should've then hire a coach and new OC. Only could've been fixed quickly. Still a lot of talent in the roaster it can fixedquickly just need a Good Manager and a Good Coach and OC.

None of the recent trades and draftees have really stood out besides mcdufee. As for their OC we know a good QB can make an average to below average offense look good, take Mahones away from that offense and they’re the least talented group in the league.
