So true, a lot of people approach self defense too timidly, worried about hurting the person who is not worried about severely hurting you or fearing what authorities will say. Wake up ! Every attack is life or death (and for women) or worse, it's up to you how far you want to take it but remember if your attacker can get up afterwards he'll try again with someone else. Do you really want that on your conscious, I'm not saying kill the person but make sure when they wake up the first thing they do is seek medical attention. And don't wait around for the cops, just leave.

Make no mistake, that or worse can happen to men too. I heard of a guy who was buggared after a beating. A few weeks later, he committed suicide. Springfield Massachusetts, 1988.

If I did what I had to do by truly DEFENDING myself or others, I'm not fleeing the scene. My Pops said that "if you do what you have to do out of DEFENDING not aggressing, Call the cops & tell them to bring an ambulance and ziplock

    • @gaaberu5728
      @gaaberu5728 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@ishmaelwilson6702 that's a mistake. Thought patern based on an erroneous assumption: the police is primarily here to serve and protect the people... it is not. It's all about "the system" (/law /justice... etc)
Establishing legitimate self defense from a legal perspective is always hairy business IRL situations.
I say go for the existential approach, do what you gotta do, and if circumstances allow it: just go on with your life, let the "authorities" take care of things without getting furthermore involved.
Don't forget : good deeds hardly go unpunished.

If I should point something out in Master Wong´s views, then it should be that what he calls aggression I think should be called intelligent constant initiative. I think this is also what Master Wong has in mind, but people in general has a tendency to think that aggression is to spas out. When I talk of intelligent constant initiative I think it means to be in a position where you constantly cause new problems for your opponent to react to until he gives up. That´s also what they do in chess. Cause complications/problems for the opponent until he can´t fight no more.

But about the hook argument, "martial arts need to be ugly"... Plain violence is ugly, not necessarily is what martial arts mean, there is the "art" word.
The essence of a martial art is solve the same problem what plain violence can solve, at more intelligent (not cosmetic or beautiful: smart) ways.
I see so many people answering the question "how I can defend myself?" with "you need to be faster/stronger/more violent than your opponent". Damn, if the defender can do this, there is no need to a martial art.

@@masterchiefthunder1504 Every Martial Arts is essentially mixed. Only their sport versions arent. I don't know how much Master Wong represents JKD, I just don't see a clean JKD technique but yeah, the principles must be in there.

@@Isaac_Shamir thats what i meant. The truth is everything i kung-fu and pangration there were the first martial arts of the world. And when i say kung-fu i mean now the hindi kung-fu before comes to shaolin monks, but with shaolin became more complete and has the spiritual part now and the art of war.So everything is out there is taken from there, ancient kung-fu and pangration from Greece. The only that makes the difference theses days is the approach strategy.Strategies can be infinite i believe but maybe no,at least there can be many of them.one of the best strategy in the world of martial arts is JKD,byt needs speed and intelligence and awareness, without those you cant use JKD and you ll get beaten at the end, thats why only a few people use it.It seems simple but is really hard to applyin counters, exept if you attack first fast without the opponent make it to react..im sending a video of my JKD compilation,im practicing a long time th-cam.com/video/-fHwghfW6Io/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/WqdRn7RlHUs/w-d-xo.html

That master spends half the time whining about internet haters. Weird. And what's that circle-jerk on self-defense anyway? No one fights irl, especially not those Kung Fu dorks. Stop fantasizing about killing a mugger (that can't be healthy) and sign into a friendly club where you can live train (boxing, muay thai, judo, bjj, etc.). It's the only way of getting a feel of what combat is like.

I don't mean to a negative nacy but the first combo didn't look much like a real life self defense. Little punches to inside of thigh wouldn't work that easily.
And timing of the jab with elbow strike is black belt borderline movie script move. Just saying

I disagree. Martial arts should be pretty. Martial arts should be, art. When an individual trains to a level of competency beyond that of their attackers, the reaction, fluid motion, conservation of motion, conservation of energy, the skills show through and it is anything but ugly. Just a different perspective.
