  • I have way too many agate, jasper, and other hard to tumble rocks in addition to tons of other rocks. Since high quality tumblers are hard to find, I made my own.

    This is awesome! Well done! I'm in the process of building a similar one, but my motor is only 1/4hp. And it just has one layer so far. But I think we used the same pillow block bearings 🤣

    Very nice! I just built (2) 6/7lb tumblers; realizing I should have just made one double stack tumbler.

    Really neat tumbler Leo. Planning to also build one. What is the length of your rods?

    Thanks for replying back to me. Sorry it was such a pain to get the video back & on for comments...This is a great build and set up! I forgot most of my questions, but have a few. First what lengh are your bars? Thinking around 36 inches? Are the belts and pulleys V belts & pulleys or flat. Do you have plans for this. If not no worries. I believe I can figure it out. I'm wanting to build this soon. Very excited!
    I'm thinking on getting a 1/4 hp 1725 hp split motor. Thinking this might be best. More cost efficient, Less Electricity used? I do have other questions but will get back to you on it.

      The rod are from Amazon. 36 inch 5/8 diameter. No plans on the build. I did it on the fly. The boards on this are 33 inches but I should have made is with 31 inch long boards. Home Depot has 1"x12"x12' boards. I had them cut them to save time. I used 2"x2" for the vertical pieces. Since it's bolted to the bottom board, I also have "feet" to accommodate the bolts. The rods have 1" dishwasher hose from HD. The inner diameter is 5/8 so it fits perfectly. I have the shaft collars to keep the hose from moving but probably not needed. Most importantly is the size of the pulleys and belts. There is a website that help with the belt sizes. Just look up pulley size calculator bit the site is called Bricklayer. If you need help with that, let me know. The pulley to rod to barrel size also need to be calculated. I created an excel spreadsheet to make the multiple calculations easier. Well, like I said, I am willing to help if you have more questions.

      @leocasanas4eer Hi Leo, Thanks for the reply and lengthy description of what you used. Much appreciated! Ya, the pulley to belt lenght is what I'm thinking to be tricky. Have to give that some thought... I guess the length of separation from 3 lb barrels & 12 lb barrels are different size lengths for the belts, correct? Finding the correct belt length to run the pulleys has me stumped. Mainly because not knowing what separation distance I want to make the shelves at. Want to make it like yours, but your bottom shelf looks like it needs a bit more height? Maybe not? Might just be a bad angle of your video...
      I want to run a 12 pound barrel along with a few 3 lb barrels Also, was it difficult to slide on the tubing to the bars? Any bad friction/ restriction? Grip from the heater hose to the barrels ok? Any slippage? I was thinking on getting surgical or silicon tubing. But hard to find in black. So I'm going to go your way with the heater hose.
      Oh, are your bars stainless steel? Sorry for all the questions! I'm a bit long-winded. But I have always been a person with many questions. Love to learn lots of things. Lol

      @dreamlookautodetailingauto3353 If you want, give me the diameters of the barrels you will use and I can tell you what distance the bars, pulley and belt sizes, and the RPM the barrels will pin at. The rods are stainless. I runned a little dish soap on the rods and the hose just slid in.

      @leocasanas4eer thanks, I appreciate that!
      I'll be running 3 lb barrels, it's 5 1/2 x 4 1/2... The 12 lb barrel is 8 1/4 × 7 3/4 inches. I'll be buying stainless steel bars as well. I believe this is better than cheaper black bars/rods.
      Also, I believe I heard a clicking sound in your video when you turned your motor on and off . Is this a switch you added, or did it come with the motor? If so, where do I get that switch from? If easier, I can also send you an email address for us to communicate if you want. Thanks again!

    No way those rods are 5/16"... You must have mispoken, right? They look more like 1/2".
